  1. Hello BetterBidding! I was hoping you can help in identifying a hotel in Puerto Rico on Hotwire. It is a 4.5* hotel in the Rio Grande-Humacao area. The amenities listed on the website include: Resort, near beach, fitness center, pools, restaurants, business centers, high speed internet access, golf and tennis nearby, spa services, and childrens activity program. Hotwire still says they are gathering reviews for this hotel so I have nothing to report for this. Dates I am looking at are for 12/5-12/7 and the current price is $233 per night. As always, I will use the HOTWIRE links found on this website to book/search for my hotel. I appreciate your help. Regards - El Georgino
  2. I don't know what I was thinking but I wanted to book a hotel for 5/31/11-6/1/11 and not 5/24/11-5/25/11. Regardless, I used the HOTWIRE link on this page and was able to get the Hyatt Regency which was a 4* hotel on Hotwire for $78!!! Keep in mind that I rented 3 rooms. Thanks for all the help! First timers in Chicago so if you have any hidden gems for restaurants/breakfast places around this area, please let me know. Thanks again! The amenities included: Smoke Free Rooms Fitness Center Restaurant(s) Business Center Laundry Facilities (self-service) High-Speed Internet Access Spa Services
  3. Yes, I decided against The Loop. After reading through your suggestions I did a bit more research and NMA or Mag Mile is where we would like to stay. I've decided to look into Hotwire also, since Priceline is tough right now even though I will probably try increasing my bid on Priceline later. The Hotwire hotels you mention do entice me a lot. This is interesting though...on Hotwire if I say I want 3 rooms, 6 adults and 0 children I get a $94 quote for NMA-Water Tower-Gold Coast and $101 quote for Mag Mile-Streeterville. But if I say 3 rooms, 6 adults, and 2 children (we do have 2 children in the party) the Mag Mile quote stays the same but the NMA quote increases to $205! From that interesting fact, can you tell which hotel the Mag Mile is? Or trim it down some more? Also, does it matter if I put the number of children? I know this is a lot of questions but after this post, I will book the trip and post my results here and use both the HOTWIRE link and PRICELINE link provided. Thanks!
  4. I used Priceline and tried a 4* hotel in the NMA area with bids of $65, $75, $80, $85, and $95 but were not accepted. My re-bid zones with no 4* hotels were Frankling Park, Hyde Park, Lincoln Park, and Midway Airport North. I see that Midway Airport Area and Skokie have 3.5* hotels but did not try them as re-bid zones since I am scared, for some reason, that Priceline will accept my bid in those areas even though they list not having 4* hotels. Is that a concern? Because I ran out of re-bid zones without 4* hotels. Never have tried Hotwire so I am unsure if I will try it. From y'alls experience, Hotwire works just as well or better than Priceline? Thanks for all the help. I used the PRICELINE link given and will continue to do so in the future.
  5. I've looked over some posts and people have been able to get a winning bid for around these dates for no more than $125. If that is doable, then I'd love a 4* hotel in main Downtown and the Loop like you stated for no more than $125. If I need to bid more, I can go up to $150, i f needed. I will definitely use the links for PRICELINE provided to do my search and booking. Thanks!
  6. Thanks - I apologize, I thought I had updated my last post a few months ago. Thanks for the heads up. Just updated it stating what we ended up doing for out NYC trip. Love this website and want to use it for the future. Thanks again.
  7. I tried and tried booking a 4* hotel in NYC for the first weekend in December but my bids were rejected. I did not bid more than $225 for a room and as said previously, it is a very busy weekend in NYC the first weekend in December. So we expanded our options out to New Jersey and was able to win a bid for the W in Hoboken for $200 total per night! The going rate on their website was $250 before taxes for the same weekend so we ended up getting a very good deal! The W in Hoboken is literally a 3-5 minute walk from the Subway that takes you into the heart of NYC. Even though I didn't win any bids on NYC, the winning bid for the W in Hoboken felt like a winner since it was a nice place to stay. Thanks for the help and strategies on betterbidding since they do indeed work.
  8. Hi - I need help with a bidding strategy for a 4* in Chicago on 5/24-5/25. We prefer the Milleniem Park/Loop/Grant or North Michigan areas but Greater Chicago would be great too. First time in Chicago so I don't know what price to start off. We are actually trying to book 3 rooms, would that be a problem? I appreciate your help and will definitely use the PRICELINE website found on your site to book. Many thanks!
  9. Thank you for replying. I did $165, $180, $200, $205, and then $225 for areas MDT-West, Central Park South, and MDT-East for a 4* hotel. After each rejection I would proceed to add a zone without a 4* but came short each time. I may be hoping for too much by bidding low but I figured wat do I have to lose. I was really trying to stay under $225 per night if I could for those areas. Maybe I need to look at other areas? Thanks!
  10. I am looking for a bidding strategy that would work for the areas mentioned. Can anyone please help? I'm not sure how this works so any advice is helpful. I will use the PRICELINE link from this website to book my trip. Thanks! Regards - Jorge
  11. Hello - i am a new member to this site. I have heard about this site before but never used it since I have never used Priceline before. So I am a newbee in both areas. I need some advice on how to obtain the hotel we prefer in NYC. We are travelling to NYC on 12/03-12/06 and I have searched Priceline for a 4* hotel in areas MDT-West, Central Park South, and MDT-East but have come up short. My max bid for these three areas was $225 per room. Also, I am looking for 2 rooms. I have read the advice on how to keep on searching on Priceling by adding zones that do not contain 4* hotels and it was working fine last night but when I tried again this morning I kept receiving a duplicate request notice. Is that normal if I am rebidding the correct way? Please advise. If more information is needed, please let me know and I will provide. Thanks for all the help in advance. I have read a lot of topics on this site and am grateful for the tons of information out there. Regards - El Georgino
