  1. Have stayed 3 times and loved it. Drawback is the $15 resort fee per night they charge. Last year it was only $10 a night. Awesome location, lots of foot traffic and go to Coyote Ugly while there. Enjoy!!
  2. Great rate, I won on priceline for the last week of June at the same rate. Palms is a great hotel, rooms are nice and the casino is not so large and has a terrific vibe to it. The staff are really great there too. Enjoy!
  3. Looking to go in October/early November to catch a Bruins game. Summer, the hotels are just out of my budget.
  4. Pushing Chicago to the fall. Hotels will be a bit cheaper and so will the airfare.
  5. Off Strip is good if it is Rio who does not charge a resort fee per night, Palms who charges a $1 a night resort fee, Gold Coast who charges a $3 a night resort fee and The Orleans who charges a $6 a night resort fee. Any MGM Resorts property charges you a resort fee between $12-$25 a night. Wynn, Encore, Venetian and Palazzo I believe are $20-$30 resort fees per night and Treasure Island charges $20 resort fee per night. Caesars Entertainment properties (Harrahs, Flamingo, Imperial Palace, Bill's Gambling Hall, Bally's, Paris, Planet Haollywood and Rio all do not charge any resort fees. So whatever your winning bid, take that into consideration as this resort fee is not included in the nightly rate.
  6. Congrats on the win. I want to stay at the Riv on one of my next stays. It has character and history. You know you are in a legendary place when you walk in. Only drawback is that beyond the Riv going north there is not much at all. But you have Encore and Wynn right there one block south. You will enjoy it there. Hilton is a short walk out the back entrance of the Riv as well.
  7. You have direct access to the Miracle Mile Shops I believe from the Westgate Towers and then a short walk you are in the casino. I wouldn't worry about staying in the hotel part, the Westgate Towers are new and pretty nice. Good rate you got for it too.
  8. First time using Priceline. I was offered $50 a night with my Players Card from the Palms, decided to try Priceline and go for either the Palms or Rio. Stayed at the Palms 2 weeks ago and twice two years ago. Love the place. Typo Sun June 26th to Fri July 1st Started bid at $30--declined $33--declined $35--declined $38--declined $40--ACCEPTED Thanks guys, this board is so helpful.
  9. The airfare is always the tricky part. When the seat sales come around by the end of April/beginning of May I will play around with dates to see what is best. I would prefer to be in Chicago for the weekend being I am going solo, instead of during the week. I'll do a 2* or 3* for the stay. 4* is a bit out of my budget range.
  10. I know that fri and Sat nights will be high, so I would say $125 would be my max.
  11. I changed dates from March to July due to the airfare costs. The WWE is having thier July Pay Per View in Chicago so I am looking at that weekend, Sunday July 17th. I figure I will stay downtown from Thu-Sun and then stay up at O'Hare for Sun night seen as the event is at the Allstate Arena and makes it easier to just go to the airport and fly home to Toronto on Monday. I was possibly looking at Sunday July 17th-Thu July 21st as an alternative time frame IF the accomodations are quite high staying downtown for the weekend. Thanks guys for the advice.
  12. The seat sales were not too good for March it seemed with Air Canada and Porter Airlines. Return was $450-$500. Kept waiting for better ones but when the better seat sale was available with Porter Airlines, they have a new 21 day booking policy in place. It was 14 days til the trip date. So I changed dates and decided I will go to chicago for the WWE July Pay Per View on Sunday July 17th. Gives me sufficient time to book the flight when the summer seat sales come out in April/May.
  13. I will be looking to stay downtown for the first 3 nights and then up at O'Hare the 4th night. How much on average would a 3* hotel be downtown at that time Thu-Sun? What is the advice anyone could give? Just curious as to what might be the average rate each night.
  14. Thanks all for the advice. The tickets go on sale Sat Feb 5th, the seat sales should be close to then and then I can see what the cost will be. I may fly out of Buffalo if the difference in airfare is big. I will check back with more info when the sales happen. As for staying out near O Hare, if I fly Air Canada that is where they fly into, Porter Airlines flies into Midway and if I fly out of Buffalo, Southwest does as well. I would check out the city on Sunday so taking the subway would be fine for me to go downtown for the day. Thanks guys.
  15. I had to cancel the Boston trip that I was going to go on this month due to a death in the family. I am planning on Chicago for either March 27th-29th or July 17th-19th. I will know over the next week if there are any seat sales with Porter Airlines here in Toronto. So I just wanted to find out about the hotel in advance. They had a seatsale on last week, but the WWE event was not announced until yesterday. So Porter should have another round of seat sales in another week.
  16. I had to cancel all plans to go to Boston due to a family sickness and death. Going to go in the summer for 2-3 days.
  17. Looking to possibly go to Chicago Sunday March 27th-Tuesday March 29th, 2 nights. All depends if I can get a good seat sale. The WWE Monday Night Raw event is happening Monday March 28th and I might like to attend, it is at the Allstate Arena. Where would be best to stay is what I am wondering seen as I have not been there before. Looking at about $100 a night at the most. If possible.
  18. Doesn't look like there is good transit access to the Garden from the Harbor Front zone. I think I will stick with Copley Square and Financial District.
  19. Planning on heading to Boston in the middle of January to take in a Celtics and Bruins games doubleheader at the Garden. Have never used Hotwire nor Priceline. Need some help. Weekend is Saturday January 15th-Tuesday January 18th. Would like to stay somewhere that is convenient to get to the Garden, I will not be driving so public transit would be a plus, subway for sure would be excellent, or a short cab ride to the Garden. Say 3*/3.5* in the Faneuil Hill-Financial District, Copley Square or Boston Harbor areas? My budget would be up to $150 a night. Do not want to break the bank so less than that would be great. If I have to I will go 2 nights instead, Sun-Tue if the rates are too high at that time being the MLK long weekend. Thanks guys in advance.
  20. I looked at the zones and the Quincy Market-Faneuil Hall-Financial zone is good as well as Copley Square and Boston Harbor zones. As long as there are some places to eat, areas are safe to walk, and access to the subway then it is fine.
  21. Seen as I am not too experienced on areas in Boston, I would like to stay somewhat of an easy subway ride or walk to the TD Garden. I am looking at the least expensive 3* or better.
  22. I was thinking of a 3 star. Being that I am going to Boston to take in a Celtics and Bruins games I am not wanting to break the bank and stay at a 5 star. So 3 star or 3.5 star is quite fine
  23. I am planning on going to Boston to take in two Bruins games, Sat January 15th & Mon January 17th, and a Celtics game Mon January 17th. Being I am going solo I would like to keep the costs reasonable, say $150 maximum a night. Would like to stay close to the TD Garden. Would $150 be too low of a maximum bid being it is a long weekend and three games on that weekend? Being it is winter I don't want to be having to travel far from the hotel to the Garden. I have never used PRICELINE nor HOTWIRE before. Thanks
