  1. Bid on Monday 10/6/14 for trip 10/9-10/12. Figured the Hotel would be the Holiday Inn on Dixie. Got the same one last year. Stayed there several times. Recently updated, very nice. Has a bar in the hotel, which is nice for a cocktail without having to drive anywhere. Used to have a hot tub in the pool area, but sadly that was removed - still, it's my preferred hotel in this area. I recommend it to anyone. Bid on it at lunch time, got it for $57, looked at it now and it's down to $56. Unfair I say! I want a dollar per night returned to me! However, I guess that's better than being sold out and ending up at a crummy motel instead. Amenities listed: Free Parking Free Internet Pet friendly Indoor pool(s) Airport Shuttle Fitness Center Pool(s) Restaurant(s) Business Center
  2. Review - I was very pleased with the quality of this hotel, and even more pleased at value per dollar at $53/night. This an older Holiday Inn with all the old style amenities - indoor pool, large exercise room, bar and restaurant, and a few conference rooms. The rooms are all modern and up to date. Flat screen TV's, newer carpeting and furniture. Staff was professional, polite and amiable. Last time I stayed there was about 10 years ago, before the renovations, and it was still decent then. However, I remember them having a hot tub, which is no longer there. No points deducted for that. Having a bar in the hotel is a nice addition for those who enjoy a drink or two in the evening but don't want to chance the local corner bar. I don't think they have a free continental breakfast. I was up and moving early each morning, so it may have started after I left. Doesn't matter since I would hit the Waffle House every day anyway. Free breakfast has become the standard, so if that's an issue to you, please check before booking. Location is good. Easy access to I-264. Parking lot seemed secure enough. I wasn't concerned that anything might happen to the car while there. I would recommend this hotel to anyone - business or pleasure. I stayed there alone, but I would have no qualms about taking my family there. Further, I plan on staying here again on my next trip to Louisville.
  3. Used the PRICELINE link here, did the "express deal." Few dollars cheaper than on hotwire, and the fees were less. Saved $11 over the hotwire price, for what is most likely the same hotel. Holiday Inn Louisville-Southwest Fair & Expo Center 4110 Dixie Highway Amenities: Free Internet in room Indoor Swimming Pool Free Parking Pets Allowed Restaurant Business Center Fitness Center I stayed at this hotel a few years ago. Looks like the outside has been renovated since then. Hoping its still nice.
  4. Used the link and got the best western for $55/ night. 10/11/12 through 10/14/12 A little further north than I would have liked, but it looks like a nice area. Parking lot security is important to me and my vehicle, so I hope I'll be ok here. Amenities: Airport Shuttle Fitness Center Pool(s)Restaurant(s)Laundry Facilities (self-service) Accessible for the blind Free Parking Free Breakfast Free Internet Accessible path of travel In-room accessibility Wheelchair accessible Handicapped parking Will post a review after the weekend, if I remember! v
  5. You are absolutely correct. The place looks like it's been totally renovated. Rooms are modern - flat screen TV's, nice furniture and decorations. The bar in the hotel was packed and hopping for a Tuesday night. There's another restaurant (Bogie's Ale House) within walking distance that had good food at reasonable prices. I think there was a wendy's or some fast food across the street and a shopping mall a block or 2 away. They are adding an indoor swimming pool to the place, but it looks like it may be a while before it's open. There was still signs of construction on the back side of the building (porta-johns, equipment, etc), but nothing that disturbed my visit. I'm going back to Chicago next week and I would stay there again. vince
  6. This was a Hotwire deal. Amenities Listed Fitness Center Restaurant(s) Business Center Laundry Facilities (Self-service) High Speed Internet Access Golf Nearby I don't know if it makes a difference, but I booked 3 rooms on this deal. Vince
  7. Did this one at the last minute after getting rejected on the Priceline NYOP for Northbrook and Deerfield areas. Got the Holiday Inn Mt. Prospect. A little further from Northbrook than I would have liked, but the price was right. Will try to remember to post some info on the hotel after the stay. Looks like an older property. Vince
  8. $65 offer was turned down for Deerfield area (was hoping to check out the Hyatt). $65 was accepted for Northshore, using the BB PRICELINE link. I stayed at this hotel last time I was in town. Nice amenities, what you'd expect for a 4 star joint. Easy access from the highway in Northbrook. They were having free food and drinks for happy hour when I got there last time, which was nice. Also took the rental car offer from priceline of $28 for a compact.
  9. Sorry for the delay in posting the update, but here's the rundown. To me, it was worth the $43, but I was traveling alone and I'm not hard to please. If I was there with my wife, she wouldn't have liked it. The hotel is dated. It used to be a Holiday Inn, but I guess they lost their franchise when they opened a Holiday Inn Express across the road. The room had a slight musty smell, but not terrible. The carpets were clean enough, but not new. Some of the trim pieces, woodwork, etc was kind of beat up. The back doors that open to the parking lot were not locked. the walls could use a coat of paint. Now for the good: Indoor pool, indoor hot tub, and a lot of recreation stuff for the kids - game room, pinball table, etc. Pool closes at 10 on weekdays, 11 on weekends, and you have to get a wristband (no charge) from the front desk to swim. I guess that's to deter outsiders. Many of the rooms have indoor balconies that open to the pool area. Nice if you have kids, but if you want a quiet room, that's not the side you want! They have high speed internet, but it's wired, not wireless. No big deal for me, it worked fine. I kept the "do not disturb" up for 2 days and on the second day they left a bag of clean towels outside the door. They have a hotel bar which was open on friday night, but not saturday. They also have a full service restaurant for b'fast (and possibly lunch and dinner) which I passed on in favor of the Waffle House next door. Also, no problems with the room - the TV worked, the internet worked, the heat worked, the shower and toilet worked, and the bed worked - that's all I really need! I would recommend this hotel to anyone who is not very picky, or who has kids and needs someplace where they can run wild...and it seems like a lot of kids stay here. there was a birthday party, a soccer team, and other groups with kids staying there. If you can get past that, it's a deal for the money! other people I talked to who booked directly paid $75-$85 per night...and of course I had to brag that i was getting the same room for $43. Vince
  10. 2.5* in the Louisville Expo Center/Airport area for $43 per night. 3 night total $153.73 w/ tax. Was expecting the Jameson again, got the Fern Valley Hotel & Conference Center. This used to be a Holiday Inn. I stayed there a few years ago when it was that and it was decent. It was showing its age then, but it had an indoor pool and Holidome, so that was cool. Will try to remember to post an update after I get there. v
