  1. I ended up getting the Omni for my stay (Nov. 6th-9th) through PRICELINE EXPRESS deals. I paid $282/nt. I know that's not a great deal, but I went ahead anyway. First, I've always wanted to stay at the Omni and never have been able to. Secondly, I needed two double beds and the PRICELINE EXPRESS deal had the "bed choices available" for this one, so I knew I was getting a double/double. I didn't include my win earlier as this is a Hot.wire forum and I booked through Price.line.
  2. Thanks so much for your insight. Please close this thread. I did not book through Hotwire.
  3. So, I'm looking on Hotwire for a hotel in the San Francisco, South of Market zone. This is more of a general question regarding how Hotwire works. The specifics of the hotel and/date are probably not that important. On the "Secret Rate" tab, it shows a 4 star hotel for $184/nt. I have narrowed it down to one of these four: W Westin Hotel Zetta Palace Hotel Now, when I go to the "Standard Rate" tab, I see all four of these hotels for various prices. When I click on the Hotel Zetta link, its page has the notice "Same star rating nearby for way less" and shows the $184/nt rate seen on the "Secret" page. When I click on the Westin page, I see the same notice. When I click on the "W" page, I see the same $184/nt nearby banner. However, when I click on the link for the Palace Hotel, there is no mention of a lower price nearby. Is it safe to assume that the $184/nt rate is for the Palace? Does the fact that there's no banner advertising a lower "Secret" rate mean that the "Secret" hotel is this one? I would be more than happy to stay at the Palace. Much more so than the others.
  4. Never did find out what this was. Bids were rejected.
  5. I'm curious about this hotel as well. clicking through to show all amenities shows only those listed above.
  6. Hi, I'm looking on Priceline and in the "Del Mar - Rancho Santa Fe" area of San Diego, there is an option to bid on a 5* property. I don't see any 5* hotel in the PL list. Does anyone have any idea what hotel this is? My guess would be The Lodge at Torrey Pines, but I'm not sure if that's technically in Del Mar. Thanks.
  7. First bid was $105 and I nabbed it. Might have bid high, but it's hard to play the PL game in LA - Too many 4 star properties. Anyhow, I think this is a great price for a nice place on a Friday night. And yes, I used the PRICELINE link.
  8. After a couple of days of poking around, I finally decided I wanted to stay at the Rio. I like the off-strip location and the proximity of the Palms. The only known 4* Near Strip West is the Rio, so it was easy to keep at it until I landed it. I ended up paying a little more than I wanted, but it's still more than half off their rack rates. Breeders Cup weekend, so hopefully, there will be some horseplayers in town. Used the BB PRICELINE link and got it for $120/nt. 11/4 through 11/7.
  9. The wife and I were planning a last-minute trip to DC and our travel agent was offering fleabags in our price range. I don't mind staying in a fleabag when I'm by myself, but with family, we usually like to stay in nicer places. Anyway, I decided to give Priceline a try. I didn't want to spend days bidding and trying different zones/star levels, so perhaps I started my bidding too high. I went with a 4 star in Capitol Hill at $140 and *BOOM* it was accepted. Much to my surprise, I landed at The George, the #3 hotel in DC per TripAdvisor. We're more than happy. EDIT: I don't see how to edit the Topic, but there's a typo. My winning bid was $140, not $148.
