  1. I started all biddings at $80 in Midtown East for 5*, 4*, and 3*.

When I finally came to reality that I had to drop down to a 2.5*, I chose Downtown first because if there was going to be low bid accepted, it would have been in this zone and I didn't want to risk overbidding (in Downtown) by starting out in another zone and ending in Downtown, since there wasn't any free re-bidding zones left. The only reason why I was able to counter Priceline's counteroffer was that I used a zone that I preferred to stay in, which was Midtown East.

  2. City: New York City

Zone: Downtown - SoHo - Financial District

    Checkin: 4/8

    Checkout: 4/9

    Rooms needed: 1

    Star Rating: 2.5*

I originally bidded $80 and Priceline asked me to raise my bid by $22. I added another zone and raised to $85, then added another zone and raised to $90.

On a side note: I was unsuccessful in bidding in increments for 3*, 4*, and 5* with a maximum bid of $130 on each. My logic for the low bids was that I could have booked a cancelable Ramada Inn on Lexington at $131.
