I hate when that happens because I always feel that I could've gone lower. I checked HOTWIRE and their 3.5* hotel (Hotel Indigo; matching criteria to the forum) was going for $83/night, which was $673 total. In doing the math with PRICELINE fees, it calculated to where my top bid was $82. I had bidded up $82 for a 4* and 3.5* hotels on PRICELINE without success. I checked the forum and saw $41 for April, but I also saw $40+ for 4*, as well. Thinking that January was peak season, my plan for bidding on a 3* Scottsdale hotel would be a 2-day process, incrementing by $2, with a maximum bid of $82. In doing a rate check at the Hyatt website, the AAA rate was a total of $1280.
