  1. Amenities: Fitness Center Pool(s) Restaurant(s) Business Center High-Speed Internet Access Golf Nearby Accessible for the blind Accessible for the deaf Accessible path of travel In-room accessibility Accessible bathroom Handicapped parking *Special Notes from when I was booking: Before I booked, I narrowed the property down to Hilton Hawaiian Village and Hilton Waikiki Beach based on this feature set an 85% hotwire recommendation. I know it used to have a different list of amenities, but this was the exact one for both of them. It changed one day after I was looking at it for a few days. Only 1 would show up though when I searched using the dates I was searching. How did I know it was 2 different properties? Because 1 had 200+ reviews while the other had 30+ only. 200+ should be Hilton Waikiki Beach and it has a 4 rating for location. 30+ is Hilton Hawaiian Village (the one I wanted) and has a location rating 4.5. So don't get tricked by the identical amenities list and 85% rating, make sure to look at reviews and the actual ratings. Another note is that I noticed that I would get a different price by clicking on those "1 day Private sale" emails that you get from Hotwire. For example, if the email contained a "book now" button for a 2.5*, 3*, 3.5* and 4* hotel, clicking on each one gives me a different price for some of the hotels. In my case, I was looking for 4* hotels, so every time I click on a lower * book now, I noticed that the one I was watching started to go down in price. So I literally saw prices for $165, 160, 155, 154 and 153 for the "same" 4* listing. I use "same" loosely because I also noticed it changing reviews/ratings (dates were kept exactly the same) as I discussed above, but hey, I got the hotel I was targeting and it happened to be the cheapest too. This trick works even if it gives you the "sorry, deal is gone" message. And I went in reverse order so the bottom rated booking link was last and worked the best for me. Anyways, hope this helps future Better Bidders.
  2. Priceline Express had this hotel for $196, so I used a bid of 170, 180 and 190 (using 2 rebid zone strategy). Not much of a savings, but the reason why I went as high as 190 was because the this hotel for the 19th-22nd disappeared (on PE) the night I finally decided to bid (196 was still valid for 19-21nd) so I didn't feel like nickle and diming it in the $185sh range in case it really wasn't available to check out on the 22nd. Used PRICELINE links on this forum. Cheers.
  3. I knew Priceline Express had this hotel for $176 ($203 on Hotwire), so I bid 150 originally, and then used rebid zone(s) for 160 and then 165 And the reason why I was confident that it was the Westin in both Priceline Express and Hotwire was the free parking and specifically Pet Friendly which is what seperates the Westin from Hyatt and Sheraton (other 4* in the same area). Used PRICELINE link from this forum. Cheers.
  4. thanks for all your help, but apparently the deal wasn't much of a deal. It dropped down to 165/night on both HOTWIRE and PRICELINE EXPRESS only a few hours after I "won" Next time I'm going to book refundable named hotel early, and then just wait as late as possible on HW and PL. lesson learned.
  5. So a couple of days ago I decided to bid 4* in the following zones on Priceline: MTE, MTW, TS, CSP, ESB Did the whole rebidding strategy from 125 all the way up to 210. Literally wasted about an hour of my time to do this Then yesterday, I noticed that the 4* MTE lowered its price on both Hotwire and Priceline Express to $209 from a previous $225ish. Based on previous history, I think everyone here knew it was the Roosevelt. The reviews weren't favourable so I decided to hold off. After searching far and wide, I noticed that even 3* cost more than 209 during this time in the same zones. So this morning, knowing that I would at the very least get the Roosevelt for 209, I decided to try the same zones and bid the following: 170, 175, 180, 185, 190, 195 and then finally 199. It accepted it at $199. I guess it came down to price since it would be at least $100 cheaper over a 5 day period versus other 3* hotels. Btw, on TA, a staff member of Roosevelt actually admitted that their hotel is actually a 3* hotel and not a 4* hotel. But I already knew this when bidding on this and didn't want to risk including 3*'s in my bids.
  6. Thanks for the response and sorry for the delay. I saw that 4* in ESB but I don't believe it to be the Kitano. The reason is because Kitano is showing 4 out 5 while this is still showing 4.5/5. Could it be the Affinia Shelburne instead? The rate, location and TA rating seems to match, but I haven't seen it won previously before. I guess no one has rolled the dice on it yet. I just might, but I think I'm going to try to PRICELINE it using using a rebidding strategy first. And I missed that price on St.Giles Court when I checked Expedia the next day after your response :( As usual, I will continue to use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links here.
  7. Hello all, I was hopping if you gusy can help by recommending a place. I'm looking to spend around $250/night, so I found the following on hotwire that interested me: 4-star Hotel in Midtown East for $230/night Fitness Center, Restaurant(s), Business Center, High-Speed Internet Access, Accessible for the blind, Accessible for the deaf, Accessible path of travel, In-room accessibility, Accessible bathroom and Roll-in Shower. 90% recommended in HW reviews At first I thoght it might be the Intercontinental, but the lack of "Tennis" threw me off. Anyways, since it's me and my gf's first trip to the big apple, we're not particularly picky on area, as long as it's close to a subway and are within walking distance to some of the place that most tourists and firs timers go. anyone have any ideas? we are open to HW, priceline or even just booking hotels outright. Again, looking for 4* for $250/night or less.
  8. Amenities: Pool(s) not very happy as priceline lists this hotel as 2.5* and the hotwire price is the exact same price as the current price according to priceline
  9. just booked at Venetian for 225/night. due to the mayweather fight, prices for this weekend is very high. so i basically paid the same amount as most if not all 4* hotels are currently charging for this weekend. i originally booked at Planet Hollywood for 200/night on normal priceline (which i will now cancel) , but decided to take a shot at bidding 225 for a 5* (orginally tried 175,200,205,210 for South Strip) PH was actually one of the cheapest 4* for those nights, believe it or not. I will actually be staying at Wynn/core for May 2-4 for a much less 118/night booked through their site (promo SPRNG6) and then transferring to the Venetian for the weekend and yes i booked through the PRICELINE links thru this site cheers [EDIT] also want to note that when I put in a bid of 210 on a new request (only strip north), when rejected priceline "recommended" that I should up by bid by $41 to 251 and that they will immediately resubmit the request as a "one time opportunity". Good thing I didn't, I declined it, then I just upped my bid to 225 and included Strip South Vicinity in addition to North and then won
  10. i know it's not cheap, but they were asking for $$129 at the time on PRICELINE and a few hotels/motels I drove to there wanted $110-134.99/night because there was a big college football game that weekend. Most of the places only had a few rooms left. I just happend to be passing by on my roadtrip and luckilly a McDonald's there offered free wifi so I could jump on HOTWIRE. Amenities Complimentary Breakfast Fitness Center Pool(s) High-speed Internet Access
  11. Amenities Fitness Center, Pool(s), Restaurant(s), Business Center, Laundry Facilities, High-speed Internet Access Thanks for the list.
