1. Used the PRICELINE link. Wanted anything along the river, Magnificent Mile, or the Loop. Started at $90, but easy to add more bids since lots of zones did not have 4* hotels. This hotel gets great reviews on TripAdvisor, so very happy!
2. I used the PRICELINE link and started with $80 for 4 stars. Went all the way to $130 and still didn't get a win. Went down to 3.5 stars and started bidding at $80 and still didn't get anything up to $110. Opened a new browser to start over for 3.5 at $115. Was offered a hotel if I raised it to $146. Declined that and kept bidding, until I got this hotel for $122. The same hotel was available as a PRICELINE EXPRESS Deal at $126. BTW, Pasadena is listed in Priceline under the Central L.A. region and not the San Fernando region.
3. I used the Priceline link, and wanted a hotel in the Loop. Starting at $65, and adding a few more zones, I got this boutique hotel (it's a Marriott brand, so that's a good sign). I notice it's not listed in the BetterBidding hotel lists. It's a 4-star on Priceline, and usually goes for $229 for the same dates on Hotwire. However, it's not quite "in the Loop" but within the little section that goes above Wacker over the river. But still, a great location for getting onto the L. Thanks! Diana
4. Have always wanted to stay at the Fairmont, and not finally got a winning bid for it. Too bad the reservation is for someone else. But thanks for the tip here. Saw someone else here had won the Fairmont for this weekend for $88, so I knew I'd be close. I used the PRICELINE link too.
5. I used the Priceline link and got this after a couple days of bidding. I was surprised that I couldn't get the Marriott, which I usually win for a much lower bid. Seems that Marriott is going for much more these days now. Hotel DeAnza was beautiful and the Hedley Lounge is great for food and music, but the hotel does not give 4 star service, in my opinion, just fyi.
6. Third time I've won the Marriott in downtown San Jose. Always a great deal!
7. Started with $60. Invited to rebid at $89 for guaranteed booking. Declined and added $5 increments while adding zones without 4* hotels. This is a really nice hotel in the heart of downtown San Jose, walking distance to tons of restaurants and to a light rail stop.
8. Tried bidding yesterday starting at $70 for 3.5* for Millennium Park and North Michigan zones; went all the way to $86 until I ran out of re-bids. Tried again the next day starting at $76 for 4* in Millennium Park, North Michigan, and Greater Chicago (which has no 4*). Was offered a guaranteed bid if I raised it to $98, so I knew I was close. Kept bidding at $4 increments, each time adding a zone without 4* options. Finally got it at $88. This will be a new hotel for me. Usually I get the Hyatt Regency on Wacker for about the same price this time of year.
9. Started with $69; offered a guaranteed bid if I raised to $79. Declined and re-bid at $73, adding Culver City, which has no 3.5* options. Bid accepted and upgraded to Hilton, which is 4* ... yay!
10. Started with $65 for MP. Denied, but was offered a rebid if I bid $85. Skipped the offer and went back to add North Michigan Avenue and $5 to my bid. So got Hyatt Regency in MP on Wacker and Stetson for $70. Nice. Was hoping for another stay at The Palmer House, which I got for a ridiculously low price a few years ago. But this is good. ...not sure why my full post title doesn't show, but no, I didn't get it for $7. :) Dates are 8/29/10 to 9/1/10
