Ok came back from a stay at this hotel, room size was ok, but I must say the room is very old and dated. Not well maintained. I find it hard to compare since I have not stayed at 4 stars in Taiwan before but compared with 4 star hotels i stayed at recently such as W NEw York or Hyatt Embacadero in SF and Hyatt in Irvine etc this property falls far behind any of those. Since property in Taipei is limited I would suggest bidding West taipei to avoid crowne and holiday Inn.
Came back from the stay. I must say nothing much to be dissapointed about. The rooms r nice and new and well kept. They give you fresh fruits everyday.
Oh ok its the Holiday Inn, won at 4 star.
1 SGD = 1.7 USD
14th to 18th July '05
$120 SGD p/nite works out to be about 70USD. So thats 12 bucks less than the other guy form Ambassador, I would have preferred Ambassador but I was told East Taipei was better for some reason, anyways dunt know what this hotel is like but its a HUGE one, which sometimes isnt a good thing. Any comments?
I've just returned from Taipei spending 5 nights, 2 nights at the First hotel (3 Stars, on PL bid for $47) and 3 nights at the Ambassador Hotel (4 stars, $82 PL bid). The hotels are five minutes away from one another. The First hotel is very OLD but located in a busy area. MRT is approx. 10 mins away, taxi are easily available and affordable in Taipei. There is a bus stop in front of the hotel
The Ambassador Hotel is in a upper-end area with LV and Gucci a few blocks away on the same street. There are some nice shops/restaurants around but it's not as bustling as the First Hotel area. It's a 5 minute walk to the MRT.
Hope this helps.
is ambassador east or west taipei and any tips on how you bid?
ewwww C class, ewww E class, more ewwwws for Taxis.. LOL
yuppers. I am kinda dissapointed by the following and heres some info some people should note. JW Marriot supposedly does not charge for an extra bed. I called them and was told that. Sheraton n Westin ( both Sukhumvit) Charges $35 and $30 USD plus tax respectively. Marriot and Westin DO NOT have S Class Mercedes Transfers, which is the weirdest thing I ever heard for a 5 star hotel in Bangkok Especially. Sheraton does at 2000 bht. 500 bht more than E class variety. Most 5 star hotels have a airport service for the impatient of unfaimliar greet u at the plane and take care of your stuff this cost about 1500 to 1700 bht, could be had at Sheraton for 2 at 4000 including transfer to hotel and 500 extra for S class. Westin has the same service, so I am guessing its all the same for that branding group. JW doesnt. I hope this info helps.
Used priceline.com.sg
$I usd = 1.67 to 1.7 SGD
$140 per nite, 3 nites total $420 SGD , taxes $74.34. Fee: $16.50, works out to be all included to be abt $100 USD per night.
The rate is about $8 SGD lesser per night compared the the adverts they post on the website as being won in bangkok for 5 star.
"Ok I got the above for a fren for $204 before taxes. W Hotel @ Lex,"
yeah if i intend to fly business n pay thru my nose LOL
I have been trying to book from the above mentioned airports to SIN start from 400 up to 600 with no luck. They counter with 1121 all in. I am willing to travel to other east coast airports from Toronto Canada to take flight out, like detroit, chicago, washington.
Ok I got the above for a fren for $204 before taxes. W Hotel @ Lex, did I tell you guys the last time they botched my stay, so they are giving me 2 free weekend nites which I have one year to redeem. Anyways back to this one, I screwed up n booked July at first got the same W for $179 the same dates, realised my mistake called in and they helped fix it, to June. But the rates are higher of coz.
on my recent trip to New York I though I'd try their car services instead of Taxis, coz u cant call cabs in advanced like here in Toronto, anyways. I tried Carmel, Dial 7 /Tel Aviv, Crown.
It couldnt possibly be bad luck coz all of then sucked big time. One tip. NEVER NEVER book online using a credit card with these people, they will screw up your credit card big time. And they do not tell you stuff online, like they only accept credit card booking above $35 bucks, if you think its ok if you have mutiple booking, it doesnt make a diff. So they will go ahead n say authorise $70 per transaction you do (they do this manually by the way) so say if u have 10 trips of under $20 bucks each they will stiil go ahead n authorise $70 blindly and so now $700 on your credit card is "gone" for the moment, then they will call you and tell you that you cannot use your card, how smart is that. So anyways I say stay far far far away from these black car services. Unless you pay PREMIUM prices for those hourly car services like those recommended by hotel concerige in a good hotel, I suggest to stay away, you would only feel cheated after, by the lousy drivers and lousy cars. One note the dispatchers for ALL the companies I have dealt with are REALLY dense and REALLY rude. So save yourself the grief and take a cab, unless you want to pay premium dollars, even then I shiver at the thought of what I could be in for.
Doesnt seem like that there r any post about the above dates.. tried them on hotwire and all in the low to mid 200s for 3 and 4 star.
I dunt like to use the american site at first coz the rebid involves changing zones and free bids and all that stuff.. .com.sg up to around 130/40 for 3 and 4 star in the CPS,MTW,MTE regions and nothing.
Any ideas?
The 5star in Tpe East "should" be the Westin. The 4 stars will probably include the Lai Lai Sheraton and the Crowne Plaza (or Holiday Inn).
do you have any idea how much those go for ?
Hey guys. Looking for hotels in Taipei from this thread I only found the 3star winning bid for what seems to be a very very old hotel. Anyways TOBB.com only list 2 hotels 4 star in Taipei. I would appreciate any info on hotels in Taipei
its W Hotel New York, the others are named different, this like W Hotel ETC , and this is on lexington.
So I had a reservation direct with Omni for $255 but then I decided to plunge and take the $180 4 star MTE hotel. PEOPLE IT IS W Hotel. I think its a good one. $60 or so less than their own rates. Tell me what you guys think
I saw on another posting that MTE $180 you mentioned was Millenium UN ??
ok so does hotwire work like priceline meaning prices could go up and down and availability is very limited? Coz I am really eyeing the $180 4* MTE, coz I think that would definitely be better than my normal quickbook.com reservation for the same price @ Holiday Inn Midowtn 57 St? So the point is if I can wait, I'll wait until the last minute and the possibility with getting something 4* with priceline.com under $180 at MTE/MTW no longer exsist. So what do you suggest?
Shame we dunt know what the $180 is. LOL I am looking for cheaper the better but since I cant get something like Park Central like last time for 110 USD then I figure just go all the way.
Yes the $264 is MTC Customer Fav it says. Since $233 is most probably Omni and if this is the cheapest I can get I would consider it.
But I am very curious about the $180.
Ok I dunt take anything other than cabs or walk, so I figure it has to be somewhat close. And Beekman aint exactly cheap and good, well this is all relative, but its a bit too old for my taste to be paying close to $200 and even more after taxes. Plus the cab ride not too worthwhile. N Beekman is what ? 3 star ?
I'll check the address for OMNI and see how close it is to Hilton. Any info on the $180 MTE would be most wonderfull or any speculation as to wat chains etc would it be normally etc
THANKS ALOT
UPDATE: I also checked easy click and came up with some like Avalon for a total of $666 for a 3 nite stay including taxes and all and oh yeah includes buffet breakfast any comments about this location? Its a couple of bucks cheaper not walkable distance but supposedly a 4 min drive (cab) according to yahoo maps. Looks nice and its priced for a suite supposedly
Hi "Thereuare" I have read some of your post and you seem exceedingly nice unlikely some pent up people at TOBB LOL anyways I been trying www.priceline.com and also www.priceline.com.sg more so the US site and I have bid up to 180 for 4* in the MTE,MTW,Times Square and CPS Zones, so now I am trying hotwire and this is what I got thats I found interesting and would like some help with.
1) 4* $180, Fitness centre and business centre at MTE
2) 4.5* $233 restaurant, fitness and business at MTE
3) 4.5* $264 restau,fitness,spa, high speed, business
4) 4* $239 restau MTC
5) 3.5* $212 restau MTC
6) 3* $187 restau , fitness MTC
I am attenting the 2005 Home Entertainment Show at the Hilton so I would prefer like short cab ride ( <$7) bucks to the location, or walkable I was at Park Central Hotel last year and it was walkable. I am pretty sure that weekend is a no go at Hilton, but some people won @ Hilton for $110 but those were weekdays just before the 29th April.
Anyways I would appreciate any advice. I would prefer MTW / MTC or CPS equilavent
I apologise if I am in advertently breaking any posting rules.

Started bids as 3* from $50 no luck waited for a few days tried $55 nothing. Decided to wait it out and start at 4* and started at $60 then $65 then $67. Used free rebids, avoid yyz zone because of possible new addition sheraton as 4 star.
