I might bid Miramar, West Ft Lauderdale Plantation, Aventura, Miami Lakes, North Miami, North Miami Beach. Sawgrass is too far from MIL. By shopping I mean a supermarket, shopping center like Oakwood Plaza. I use the bidding PRICELINE links.

Thanks for the reply. I don't want to stay in South Beach. This is a stay to renew passport, see mother-in-law in Miami and pre Europe flight. I would like to be in safe area, near stores or close by. 95% of the time I've been disappointed by Hotwire unreal * levels and higher prices, that's why I prefer PCL. I was thinking there are others like me who had liked the FLL airport area but now because of the auto upgrade have found a similar area. As far as prices I'd like to stay south of $50.

I don't want to bid a 3* for FLL and get upgraded to the 3.5* Hilton so am looking for alternative areas between MIA and FLL. I will have a car and don't want to be at a beach, MIA, Coral Gables or south beach. What areas do you usually bid or would recommend? Would prefer PCLN to Hotwire. TIA.

Is there a way to avoid or refuse upgrades? I was looking forward to bidding 3* in FLL because I always liked the hotels I got but don't want the Hilton.

Hotwire price is $13.95 for compact and economy. Yesterday I tried PL $9 for economy and compact Then went up to $12 for full and midsize but kept getting too low. I am looking for best price so it doesn't matter what size I get. Am using priceline $3 bonus. Does make a difference? Any ideas?

What is the $20 coupon for i.e 4 nights at $5 off? I'm deciding whether it's worth it for me to buy the book just for priceline. Is Hotwire in it again and if so what's their deal? Thanks

Hotwire was $11.95 so decided to try Priceline. Got Hertz Economy $8. Used PRICELINE link. Very Happy. Weird I have been bidding for 2 August FLL car rentals and had gone up to $15 and failed. Practicing patience is paying off.

Am flying in at 10:40pm to Atlanta and then renting a car and driving to Alpharetta. I was going to start bidding and wondered will I have a problem if I arrive at 11:30pm or 12am at a Priceline hotel. Anyone have any experience with this. Planning on staying in hotel that night and next night.

Don't know if this will help but I'm looking for a car rental in August at FLL too. It seems that if you pick up and return late night vs picking up the morning after the first late night the rate goes up. Maybe based on less people picking cars up late at night. Strange. I think I am going to try priceline for a lower rate.

Hi, When I try to open the windows on the hotel checker by grabbing the bars it jumps like it is trying to open but snaps back so I still see all 3 website. I am on a Macbook. Any ideas on how to open the individual sites? Thanks

This is a hard area to bid because there are no free rebids. Started at $50 and each day increased $1. As travel days are 9/15-18 wanted to get this over with. Was hoping for Emeryville so we wouldn't need a car and because I like and know the area there. Used the Better Bidding PRICELINE link for bids.

Took it for a few days through your HOTWIRE link. Best Western Roswell Suites 3* The shuttle is to Marta which you take to and from the airport. Didn't plan on it because on the forum list it shows as a 2.5 but maybe they upgraded it.

The shuttle icon says transportation to airport. Mall of GA is pretty far from there.

Went with Priceline got Hyatt Place Buckhead 3* for $34 + Taxes and Fees

I've won 3* in Buckhead for $34. Am trying to get a 2.5* so we can have laundry, breakfast as our sublease fell through. We probably need to stay here 2 weeks to 1 month more. I have bid up to $24 so far and gotten rejected. Would like to be near a Marta station so Buckhead seems the best place. Should I bid 2 weeks at a time, weekly or monthly? Any help is appreciated.
