1. Tried really hard to bid for a 4* in the downtown area as well as Mission beach and Valley, all the way up to $90-92, but by the time you add in "resort fees" and sometimes parking on top of that, you end up paying closer to rack rate. So, decided to to go with something with less of a headache. (It's for my sister anyway, lol) They will be close enough to the beach and parking is $13, I will let them figure that out.... I used the BB PRICELINE link for my bidding and my final booking - thank you guys! Rated 7.0 out of 10 (or higher) Guaranteed Amenities: Pets Allowed Business Center Restaurant Indoor or Outdoor Pool Fitness Center Room price: $67.00/night Number of rooms: 1 room Number of nights: 3 nights Room subtotal: $201.00 Taxes & fees: $37.50 Total charged today: $238.50
2. Yes, of course. - business center - restaurant - wifi (free) - pool - fitness center Guest rating: 9+
3. I started out bidding for a 4.5* hotel, and since the lowest was around $109, I started at $60 and did $4 increments, since there was a PRICELINE EXPRESS deal for $79. I couldn't figure out exactly which hotel the express one was so I thought I should at least try to beat their best offered rate for a 4.5. After my bid for $64, they countered with the Sofitel Water Tower Hotel for $79 and I knew that they had revealed the express deal. So, I just went back and booked it since I initially suspected it to be the Hyatt, it was nice knowing without a doubt what the express deal was going to be. Thank you guys for sharing all your information -- hope this helps!! Am excited to see Chicago after so many years. Room price: $79.00/night Number of rooms: 1 room Number of nights: 2 nights
4. I'm sorry after much investigation I found a 4* hotel at Maingate Celebration - going for $80 on Hot.wire - The Melia a suite with a full kitchen. But after checking the Walt Disney website everyday, I found a packaged deal that after you calculate ticket costs, makes the hotel free or the dining package free. So I ended up booking it. Thank you for the advice, it really made me focus in on my wants and to try to identify the exact areas and amenities I wanted to land.
5. I am wondering if there is a way to bid on a 4* close to Disney without landing some of the "lower-scale" 4* hotels in the same area that are already retail priced lower? Specifically, if I was trying to get the Gaylord, which is currently listed at $211, but for Disney main gate celebration area, the Melia is going for $100-140ish. Is this impossible you think? Same goes for Lake Buena Vista area, would like to land a nicer hotel than the Sheraton which is already listed at $96. Oh and if the 5* hotels are going for $500-$850. What would you realistically have to bid to land those ya think? Any advice is greatly appreciated. Thank you!
6. Was trying to get a 3 - 3.5 star, but once I hit $80, I said forget it. Great for last minute booking for my father. Used BB PRICELINE link and the PRICELINE EXPRESS booking because I didn't have enough re-bid zones to play with, so used promo code: Metro4 for 5% off. Hope to help! Started bidding at 68, increments of $2, adding rebid zones until I landed on this Marriott property! Terribly pleased. Looks like someone else landed it for the same weekend! Nice!
8. Used BB PRICELINE link, and started at $100 for a 4 star targeting the Houston Galleria area. Went in increments of $5 adding 4* re-bid zones (which are plentiful in Houston -- who knew?) until I hit at $140. My husband is pleased since his budget is $169 pre tax through company. He will enjoy a nice night out of town. I hope he gets a butler like we had in San Francisco...hahaha. Thank you always Better Bidding!! Offer Price: US$ 140.00 Rooms: 1 Nights: 1 + Add nights for the same rate! Room Subtotal: US$ 140.00 Taxes & Fees: US$ 32.28 Total Charged to Card: US$ 172.28

10. It's not a great win, but those dates are booked up for many of the 4 stars. And had to stay in that area. I'd been bidding up to $170 on Price.line with zero luck, so this is a win for me. Lol. I would like to know what the free parking is all about though? Thank you always guys, used the BB PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links a million times these past couple of weeks. ;)
11. I should have bid lower, but I didn't have much time for my husband's last minute business travel. Plus they get $175/night, so really I'm just being cheap for the company...lol I know crazy. So I based the bid off of another person's win, was hoping for something hip like the W, but this will do. 12. Check-In Sunday, July 21, 2013 at 03:00 PM Check-Out Monday, July 22, 2013 at 12:00 PM Omni Boston Parker House 60 School Street Boston, MA 02108 Summary of Charges Room Cost (avg. per room, per night): $93.00 (USD) Number of Rooms: 1 Number of Guests Per Room: 2 Number of Nights: 1 Room Subtotal: $93.00 (USD) Taxes and Fees: $21.48 (USD) Priceline Hotel Coupon: -$4.65 (USD) Total Charged to Card: $109.83 (USD) I've been bidding for about a week and was using a couple of wins in the Theater District to base my price range, I thought we were going to get the Hyatt, but was so pleased with this win. Thank you all for outlining re-bid zones for 4* hotels -- it was exceedingly helpful and we are looking forward to our trip up east! Used the BB PRICELINE link of course!
13. I totally agree with the above poster about opening the second window to verify rebid zones. It's a great tip for the faint of heart. As someone who used to live in the beautiful city of SF, I would actually consider including SOMA too because it actually has some of the nicer/trendier hotels included because it's sort of the "artsy" area and really within blocks of Union Square. (See the Priceline Hotel List) Union Square is great for first timers because you have access to mass transit to all the different parts of town. However, it really depends what you like to see, for scenic views and access to the beaches Marina is another great area. It has many restaurants and shops and has more of a local neighborhood feel. Also, great access to GG bridge and Sausalito (just on the other side of the bridge, it's like a different little European world - great if you want to bike the bridge and have lunch on the other side). We miss it dearly and I think you'll really like it. Oh one last thing about rental cars (if you plan to rent one) since most places charge $40-$75/night, especially in Union Square, the other option is just to rent a car for the day and return it the company. That's what many do because a one day rental is typically $30-$40. And the rental places are scattered all over Union, Financial District, and SOMA. Good luck and just FYI, long ago we were able to land the JW Marriott for under $120 through priceline -- amazing!! Did you know you get your own butler button in the rooms??? LOL!
14. I've literally been bidding (using bb.com website of course) since February and just recently landed this, it's not as good of a deal as I was hoping, but I only wanted a 4* for the Mission Bay area. I don't know if these dates in May are just on the verge of the summer season so they are in no rush to confirm reservations or what. I am certain that if I included downtown and La Jolla I could have beat that price. The only other worry is the parking fee. What is up with resorts that have plenty of parking available charging for self-parking? Which is incidentally why I left off downtown. Oh well, I think I landed the Paradise Point a couple of years ago and they didn't end up charging us for our car. We'll keep our fingers crossed. Hilton San Diego Resort Mission Bay 1775 East Mission Bay Drive, San Diego, CA 92109 Check-In: Thu, May 16, 2013 / After 04:00 PM Check-Out: Mon, May 20, 2013 / 12:00 PM Rooms: 2 rooms / 4 nights Offer Price:avg. per room, per night - $123.00 Rooms: 2 Nights: 4 Room Subtotal: $984.00 Taxes & Fees: $148.80 Total Charged to Card: $1132.80 1 room for 4 nights = 566.40
15. Was hoping to get a 4 star in the Mission Bay area, but finally had to add La Jolla, but pleased with results (A Kimpton Hotel) for this price point. Went up to 110 for Mission Bay and was still getting rejected. Started over at $90 adding La Jolla and re-bid zones for 4 star hotels and finally landed at $105. I hope the results/pricing will be better when bidding again for May 16-21. Used BB PRICELINE link! Offer Price: $105.00 Rooms: 1 Nights: 1 Room Subtotal: $105.00 Taxes & Fees: $21.69 Total Charged to Card: $126.69
16. That's an amazing deal, considering prices for the Four Seasons now is 3X that. May I ask how many bids did you try and what price point you started at? Thanks!
17. Won, after starting at $80, $2 increments only wanting downtown 4* or Gaslamp (yes, I'm a super cheap b@st@rd) Usually go to SD in March or May-June and can find 3.5-4* for under $80, but such last minute this is pretty decent. Love this site! Good luck! W San Diego Downtown - Harbor Island 421 West B Street, San Diego, CA 92101

19. Not terrible, considering just found out husband had a meeting Monday afternoon in Austin. Was looking for something spacious, hopefully this will be acceptable. 20. Hi Hugh, May I ask what your bidding criteria was when bidding? And were you trying to get this particular hotel? My brother has a conference there the week before and I'm trying to figure out if this is a realistic bidding strategy for us. Excellent price -- apparently their conference rate is $289..... Thank you for any information you can share!
21. I used the bb link to PRICELINE and had to bid for an emergency room for my in laws since tahoe is under a storm watch and they basically needed to evacuate in order to catch their flight Monday....so not bad for same day bid/same night stay. Courtyard By Marriott Reno Reno South - Airport (RNO) 6855 S Virginia St Reno, Nevada 89511 Check-In Date: Fri, Mar 18, 2011 / After 03:00 PM Check-Out Date: Mon, Mar 21, 2011 / 12:00 PM Your Offer Price Per Room, Per Night: $42.00 Subtotal: $126.00 Taxes & Fees: $25.71 Total Charges*: $151.71
22. Just FYI, I was bidding only 4* for coastal, but was also getting rejected for about the past 2 weeks. It was not until I added "downtown/harbor" that I won my bid. I just think there aren't a whole lot of 4* hotels in the coastal area willing to negotiate. Good luck to you!
23. I agree, I wish they would show how much people paid per night, then you could see where their expectations were coming from. We've rarely been disappointed in paying under 100 for a "4 star" hotel with priceline. You could do a lot worse. Either way, I appreciate the follow up and can't wait to see some ocean! And maybe even some whales!
24. I am nervous because that other traveler just posted how much he disliked it....but we have a family with 2 kiddos and really just want a nice space to entertain them...hopefully it will be fine? Maybe keep our fingers crossed for a bungalow? without ants? And see if we can play up the fact that it's our first time to SD to get our parking comped? 25. Okay, so I was starting to get so discouraged. I used the template for the first few days after your post, but then thought I'd wait until last week to start bidding again. And once I saw some of the other people who won bids for the same nights, so I tried to develop a strategy on their bids, but to no avail. So tonight, I just tried 3* for $90 plus $10 bonus cash and I only picked Financial District and Chelsea (based on someone else's win) and got the Holiday Inn Wall Street Downtown - Soho - Financial District 51 Nassau Street New York, New York 10038 212-227-3007 Check-In Date: Sun, Oct 31, 2010 / After 03:00 PM Check-Out Date: Wed, Nov 3, 2010 / 12:00 PM Bonus Cash Per Room, Per Night: $10.00 Your Offer Price Per Room, Per Night: $90.00 Total Offer Price Per Room, Per Night with Bonus: $100.00 -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Total Charges to your Credit Card Your Offer Price Per Room, Per Night: $90.00 Subtotal: $270.00 Taxes & Fees: $69.39 Total Charges*: $339.39 Thank you guys so much for your help and we are pleased that we will have lots of money left over in our pockets for the visit!
