  1. I will. I know that there is a big room block there close to that date and anticipate that some rooms will open in a couple weeks. I'm holding off until then, but will post again when I try.
  2. Tried again last night, went up to $165 and still no luck. Will try again in a couple weeks, or switch to 4*.
  3. Good thoughts, friends. That's why I asked. I'll keep my eyes peeled. The rate right now is $349 on the websites. I realize I'm not guaranteed the Venetian, but based on all my research, it is the only 5*. I know, anything can change at any given time, but something's got to be said for history, which is what I'm banking on. A gamble-appropriate for the location!
  4. I have tried to bid on the Venetian for 10/15/04 for one night up to $130. No luck. I incremented by each zone, but excluded those two that had resorts (but no 5*), because I wasn't sure if they would automatically be included as an option if I did include the zone. Any insight? Also, now that I've bid and been rejected, is there merit in going through all the zones again when I rebid, or should I just start higher and not try to add as many zones? Still learning the system, with your help. Also, I absolutely want the Venetian since I have several nights before that already reserved there. If I thought I was going to end up somewhere else, I'd not be bidding for a hotel right now, but looking at other options. Thanks!
  5. Your assumption is right, I did not try $79. Thanks again for your help. BTW, price on other websites for hotel was $195. I love Priceline!!!
  6. Oops, sorry about the previous post, it can be deleted. I was able to get the Hyatt Regency Pier Sixty-Six for $80+tax. Started at $70, and incremented $5 each time and added a zone. Thanks for your assistance. I'll be back soon for a hotel in Vegas.
  7. I tried your suggestions. Basically ended up doing a max of $83 downtown for 3*. Am thinking about trying the beach now. So, if I get put at the Holiday Inn, is it going to be really bad based on the reviews? I don't want something dirty or unsafe. Thanks for your input.
  8. I've read good things about the downtown hotels (conveniently located to water taxi, nice, view of port, etc.) so am more interested in that than the Amerisuites. Based on reviews of airport hotels vs. Amerisuites, probably the airport area would be my preference. Anything favorable I'm not aware of about Amerisuites compared to the other hotels, excluding the price? From what I know now, I would probably be a little let down with Amerisuites, but not unhappy. Obviously, as undecisive as I am, as long as it is clean and safe, I'll be okay.
  9. I haven't thought of it in terms of what I'd be willing to pay. Probably no more than $85. I'd add the airport region if I had to. No backup reserved. I'd probably use points at the Sheraton Clipper, before I paid much more. (I forgot to add--I need 3 rooms, so I'd have to share points, which I'm not fond of doing.) I'm not opposed to the Amerisuites, I'd just rather stay somewhere else. There are 6 of us, so I just don't want to get into big transportation costs, as I understand the rate on cabs is for up to 5. Thanks for your help.
  10. I am trying to obtain a night for a pre-cruise stay. I am trying to obtain 3 or 4 *, but avoid the H. Inn, so am not bidding on the beach area (although I'd love the Clipper). I will bid on downtown. Any advice on a reasonable price that time of year? Also, do you think it makes a difference on getting accepted as to whether or not we purchase the insurance? Thanks for your help.
  11. First bid: $46 4* Union Square Second bid: Added Fisherman's Wharf; changed amount to $51 Third bid: Added Cathredal Hill; changed amount to $56 Bid accepted at Grand Hyatt-Total Charges: 69.91
  12. Wondering if you could help again -- I was so pleased with the information provided last time about Miami. Looking for something nice in Cocoa Beach (need 2 rooms-2 couples) preferably on the beach. Looks like we should bid 3*. I know when I bid in MIA that I added areas that didn't have 3*, but it doesn't appear Cocoa Beach has that option--do we just keep adding to the price and see if it takes it? Also, you asked that I access priceline through a particular website, if you provide that to me again, we're happy to use it. Thanks so much for your help.
  13. Got the 3* Hyatt in Downtown Miami for $36/night, $46 includes tax. I really appreciate your help. I think I'm hooked! 3* downtown - $26 added SW - $31 added N Miami - $36
  14. Have never used priceline and trying to learn the ropes. Your expertise is appreciated! I am going in 8/3 for a cruise on 8/4. Looking to stay someplace nice, preferably downtown, for a reasonable price. Me and two 18 year old nephews. Won't have a car. Had seen a HI at Marina Park for $64 but was advised I could do better on PL. So...what is a good starting bid for downtown? 3* and $35 reasonable? Then add SW Miami Beach and up a buck or so? Then add N. Miami and add a buck or so? Then add Key Biscayne and a couple bucks? Thanks for your help!
