A previous poster has this same question, but I've made a little bit of progress, so I'll start there. I bid last night (using the link here) several times with free re-bids. I started at $85 and went up to $117 bidding for a 4* and got nothing. Any idea how far I'll have to go up to win? I would also be willing to take the 3.5* in Lincoln Park - I also tried that last night going up to $110 and lost. Any advice would be appreciated! RebelFan

I'm bidding for the same dates, but I WANT River North, not the Loop, because I'm not attending Lollapalooza. I have made bids for NMA up to $122 - all rejected. Like the previous posters said, I expected the NMA area to still be reasonable, but I'm beginning to wonder. I'll try again tomorrow.

Well, I thought you were crazy by suggesting I up my bid $1, but I tried it anyway. It paid off! For $66 a night I got the Gaylord Opryland Resort and Convention Center! I know this hotel usually goes for WAY more. Here's the details! I tried again this morning for 2.5* Opryland, bidding 4 times at $62, $63, $64, and $65. All rejected. I may wait a week or so and rebid this zone, or I may just move over to the Airport zone. I much prefer Opryland, but $65 is my limit. I should add that I was never offered a counter-offer, as a previous poster was.

Well, still no luck. Today I tried $56, $58, $60, and $62. They've got rooms available, and I've seen so many others get this hotel for $50, I don't know what the problem is.

I've bid on 2 different days for a 2.5* in the Opryland area. The first day I started low at $44 and worked my way up to $50. Today I started at $50 and worked my way up to $56. I'll try again tomorrow and let you know how it goes. I'm willing to go up to $65. Of course, I used your PRICELINE link. Kara

Interesting development - I decided just to go with the Airport Inn and not call them about the pool - big mistake. When we pulled in to the parking lot I was scared. I could go into a long narrative about the place, but I'll spare you. It was just not anywhere I would EVER stay. So we went across the street to the Comfort Inn, which was fine. I then wrote Hotwire an email explaining the pool issue, and that there was no Business Center. I also told them some unsavory details about the appearance of the property, and told them there was no way that it was even close to 2*. I requested a refund. In the mean time I got one of those "rate your experience" emails, and in the body it mentioned that the Airport Inn was a 1* hotel. WTH? I checked my confirmation, and I booked a 2* hotel! Ultimately, I didn't get a refund, but I got $100 in hotwire dollars (double what I originally paid). I guess this is ok. I would have liked the option of a refund or the credit, but getting double is a nice gesture. Kara

I managed to get what looks like the scariest hotel in all of Alabama. We're just using it for a quick stopover on the way to FL, though. I can't even find a website on this place, but did find that it used to be a Days Inn. Amenitites: Complimentary Breakfast, Hi-speed internet, Laundry, Pool, Business Center. Many apologies, I forgot to link to HOTWIRE through this site. I was so concerned about using the right page to get my Entertainment Book discount that I forgot to come here first.

I booked the $138 hotel today. It was the Crowne Plaza-Hotel Astor.

Oh, I wasn't clear. I am ready to purchase now. I'm just waiting for the right offer to come up. For example, if you had reason to believe that the $138 hotel is one that I would desire, I would purchase right away.

The first one (the Boutique) is no longer coming up, you're correct. But I am looking at it right now and the $138 3.5* is still coming up. It is in the French Quarter zone. Thanks in advance! PS I am just browsing right now, when I actually purchase I will go through savingsbarn.

Somehow my posts got combined on one thread. Just to clarify, the first hotel on the thread for $79 was a 3*. I am now curious about the second one I posted about ($138), which is a different hotel and 3.5*.

This hotel is showing up for $138 for 9/16 - 9/18. It's a 3.5* and the amenities listed are: Selected amenities include: Restaurant(s), Pool(s), Fitness Center, Business Center I thought it might be the Bienville House, but it only has *access* to a Fitness Center, would that count? And it didn't mention a Business Center

Please help me ID this 3* hotel for 9/16 - 9/18. It is a Best Value for $79. Amenities include: Boutique Hotel, Fitness Center, Internet Access. Thanks in advance for your help!

Just realized these probably aren't the same. The one you're seeing has a restaurant and Business Center, and mine doesn't.

I think I may be trying to ID this same hotel. I'm looking at the dates 9/16 - 9/18 and found a 3* in DT NO that lists - Selected amenities include:silkHotAmenities3: Boutique Hotel, Fitness Center, High-Speed Internet Access It's listed as a Best Value for $79 It's not the Monaco, because I got it a couple of months ago and it was a 4 1/2 star. Could this be the Wyndham Whitney, possible downgraded from 3.5* to 3*? To the poster above, you can never guarantee what hotel you'll get, just make an educated guess. And in my experience, it's a myth.

I started at $55 and used rebids to get to $65. I used savingsbarn. I'm surprised I got this with a Saturday check-in. The Marriott website's lowest rate for this date is $129.

I can't give all the details because my friend bid this and told me about it last night. I thought this limited info might help someone. My friend started at $60 for NMA and the Loop and used various free rebids, increasing in increments of $10, and ended up with the Rennaisance for $120.

We had a great time at the Hotel Monaco. We stayed over a long weekend in May. I booked 2 rooms, each had a king bed. One room had no view but was very large. The other had a great room but was much smaller. I would recommend this hotel. Pros * Great decor and very clean in lobby and rooms * Aveda Bath Products * Wine reception for one hour in the afternoon offering good wine and chair massages (all free) * Leopard print robes in the rooms * Good location * Pet friendly, or if you don't bring your pet they will lend you a goldfish * Our toilet was messed up when we arrived but once I called it was fixed almost immediately.
