  1. This is what I came up with doing a pacakge search for your dates:

    Hyatt Regency Orange County

11999 Harbor Blvd., Garden Grove, California 92840

Hotel features:Restaurant(s), Pool(s), Fitness Center, Golf Nearby, Tennis Nearby, Business Center 3 1/2*

which almost matches this property using the hotel search (2 adults, 2 children):

Selected amenities include:Restaurant(s), Pool(s), Fitness Center, High-Speed Internet Access, Golf Nearby, Tennis Nearby, Business Center. Listed as Best Value $76 3 1/2*

Looking at the maps they appear to be in the same area - Anaheim - Disneyland South

    Closest match I could find

  2. Are you willing to stay elsewhere? I got the Holiday Inn Select (soon to be a Crowne Plaza - Aug 1) for Friday, August 5th It is located in Brooklyn Center right off Interstate 694, only 9 miles from downtown. It is has been going through a renovation, my winning bid was $30, pre-paid web rate was $99. This is in the Minneapolis North area. I too found rooms downtown to be in short supply or not available for this weekend in general.

  3. The 3 1/2 star might be this: Radisson Plaza Lord Baltimore

Elegant and grand, the Radisson Plaza Lord Baltimore combines historic charm with modern luxury. Built in 1928 and listed as a historic landmark, the hotel features 424 deluxe guest rooms and is minutes from the Inner Harbor, shopping, sports stadiums, and family entertainment. Twenty meeting and banquet rooms provide the ideal setting for gatherings of all sizes.

It has the amenities you listed (restaurant(s) and fitness center), this I found by doing the package search.

And the 3* is probably the Wyndham, it shows up with the same amenities and star rating you listed - again using the package search.

  4. If you are bidding for a 3* hotel in a certain zone and are rejected on your first bid, in order to bid again you must change one (or more) items relating to your stay. You can change the date(s) of your stay (last thing you want to do) or add another zone or change the the star quality you are bidding on (it will always be lower) The recommended thing to change to keep bidding for a 3* is to add other zones (one at a time) that only have hotels available at star ratings below 3*, usually highest is 2 1/2 stars or even 2 * hotels. Before starting your bidding, look at each zone seperately and note the highest star quality in each zone (put in a check mark in only one zone and click next to do this) Ypu will then see the star ratings that particular zone has available for bidding. Those are your free rebid, for Seattle they would be:

    Bothell 2 1/2*, Lake Union 2 1/2*, Lynnwood-Edmonds 2 1/2*, and Univ of Washington - Northgate 2

All other zones would have 3* or higher. By adding the free rebid zones, you can keep bidding in the same zone (say the airport zone) at 3*, remembering to increase your bid as well each time (I'd say $3 - $5 each time) Hopefully with 4 rebid zones you will be able to secure a winning bid. If you are rejected on all bids close your browser and start over (if you are willing to stay in a different area with 3* hotels), choose a different zone than the first time (say Renton-Kent) and repeat procedure from above. It is always important to look at recent winning bids and re-check zones each time you bid (they can change anytime, higher star rating can be added/taken away) In all it would be possible to make 20 bids for hotels 3* or above in the Seattle area, making 5 bids in each zone that have 3* hotels (4 zones) and adding the free rebid zones (4) to the opening bid. The most important thing to remember when bidding Priceline is that your are bidding for a certain area (zone) and star rating, never for a particular hotel (although hoping always to get a decent property in the end) Good Luck!

  5. Bidding as follows:

3* Mpls West $25 - rejected, added Burnsville $28 - rejected, meant to add Coon Rapids (next free re-bid) but added Mpls NW instead $30 and was accepted, Oh well....

This location will work out fine and can't complain for $30 (see previous post paid $44 for 8/1-8/3)

Hotel website has rate of $99 pre-paid and this note:

Under renovation!! Will be Crowne Plaza Minneapolis North by August 1, 2005 (still ichotelgroup)

Wasn't this a Hilton at one time? It will be like going home as I grew up in Brooklyn Center!

Your Offer Price: $30.00 Number of Rooms: 1 Number of Nights: 1

    Subtotal: $30.00 Taxes & Service Fees:$10.55 Total Charges: $40.55

  7. You have two free rebid zones you have not used yet, and have you considered the USW area? A good chance to get the Hilton or other decent hotel. I would start a new bid for 4* at about $55 - $60 in the USE zone and increase bids at $5 after adding a free rebid zone (you have four available) If no success with this, start a new 4* bid using USW and the free rebid zones starting at $55 - $60 again. I would think from looking at recent posts, you should be able to secure a 4* in USE or USW for $70 - $80 for your dates.

Check out this post regarding rebidding:

  8. On our recent vacation we stayed at several different properties along the way and I found that the nicest was the Hampton Inn in Carlisle, PA ($35 winning bid) While it didn't have the glitz of the Grand Hyatt in Washington, DC we stayed at later, I found the room to be equal or better than the Grand Hyatt. We had a great non-smoking room with a king bed and sleeper sofa, microwave and fridge, nice bathroom and plenty of room overall. Throw in the free wireless internet access, free breakfast bar and nice pool, this property at *2 seemed a much better value than the Grand Hyatt was. Location of hotel was just off the Pennsylvania Turnpike and just off the Harrisburg Pike (this road heavily traveled),but hotel was far enough off the road you hardly noticed. Checkin was no problem and no mention of Priceline. We were given a room on the second floor at rear of hotel, which was really quiet. Desk clerk quoted someone else for same type of room (as we checked in) and rate was $117! We had two seperate reservations at this property (June 13 & 14), but there was no problem keeping the same room both nights. There was no restaurant on property (except for free breakfast bar), but there were several within close proximity to the hotel (front desk had list and directions for guests) Hotel staff very friendly, we really enjoyed the extra special breakfast bar (including hot items) It was about a 30 minute drive to Hersheypark and the best location for our travels south (to Virginia) afterwards. This is the best Priceline property I've ever stayed at considering all factors and a terrific value for the dollar. Would stay here again in a heartbeat, great property! Would consider other Hampton Inns as well in the future!

  9. Looking at the Las Vegas packages, this would seem to be a match for Harrah's which is 3 1/2 * and shows these amenities: Hotel features: Casino, Restaurant(s), Pool(s), Fitness Center, Spa Services, Golf Nearby

I believe Flamingo Road must be the dividing line between the North and South Strip areas, which would put Harrah's in the North Strip area.

  10. We just recently stayed at the Grand Hyatt and found it great (we didn't use the pool), but we really would have like to have gotten the Omni Shoreham. On our recent vacation we stayed at several different properties along the way and I found that the nicest was the Hampton Inn in Carlisle, PA ($35 winning bid) While it didn't have the glitz of the Grand Hyatt, I found the room to be equal or better than the Grand Hyatt. We had a great non-smoking room with a king bed and sleeper sofa, microwave and fridge, nice bathroom and plenty of room overall. Throw in the free wireless internet access, free breakfast bar and nice pool, this property at *2 seemed a much better value than the Grand Hyatt was. Further proof the less expensive hotels are providing more (for free) than the big glitzy ones (at a lower price) Don't get me wrong, getting the Grand Hyatt for $90 was great, just staying in the city (great location) was well worth it.

  11. This was a same day bid for a layover on the way back to Minnesota from an east coast trip. Wanted to avoid going through the Chicago area at afternoon rush hour and also avoiding a longer day on the road.

Bid for this area (Lansing, IL - Hammond, IN) only as this was my preferred location

    Bid 2 1/2* - $40 rejected

    Bid 2* - $42 accepted

I had already been rejected for *2 at $40, so I knew it would take higher to get a winning bid. Bid the 2 1/2* just to give me an extra bid. If I had been rejected at $42 I may have started a new bid and added other areas. Fairfield direct showed rate of $89, so I did save over half on this hotel.

Your Offer Price: $42.00 Number of Rooms: 1 Number of Nights: 1

Subtotal: $42.00 Taxes & Service Fees: $12.10 Total Charges: $54.10

  12. Stayed there June 18 - 21, Priceline rate was $90

Had no trouble finding the hotel and getting on site parking ($20) as we checked in on Saturday.

No problem with check in, received a 7th floor room with two double beds and non smoking as requested

I asked about upgrades, was told there wasn't any available, but the room we got was great with a nice view of the atrium. Room was pretty standard, nice bathroom and had a mini bar (didn't use) and the beds were decent. Used the wireless internet access at $9.95 a day for two days and once at an hourly rate of $3.95 - Was not offered the "business plan" at checkin, but we weren't going to use the pool and the fitness rooms anyway so this was not a problem. Did not eat at any of the hotels' restaurants while there.

Location was terrrific as we could access the Metro from the building and we could walk to several of the attractions we wanted to see (the Spy Museum being one of those) Hotel staff was friendly and requests (such as fresh towels each day) was not a problem. I would stay here again just because of the great location, but would try to get the Omni Shoreham first, because I like their rooms better. The Grand Hyatt would be my second choice though. Very nice hotel, loved the atrium, especially the floating piano.

  13. In D.C. you will usually find lower room rates on Friday and Saturday nights, for example the Grand Hyatt has rates from $139 for your dates, whereas weekdays start at around $289 (rates shown from their website) BTW, they have no availablity the nights of the 19th & 20th!

I would say stay in town, ride the metro - lots to see and do! My family will be in D.C. from the 18th to 21st, we are staying at the Grand Hyatt at a Priceline rate of $90 (booked almost 3 months ago) We are really looking forward to our trip! Have a great stay, whatever you decide!

  14. My guess it is:

    The Melrose Hotel New York

Hotel features: Restaurant(s), Fitness Center, Spa Services, Business Center

The Melrose Hotel New York is a majestic landmark building, centrally located on Manhattan's Upper East Side. Walk from the hotel to Central Park

Got this information using the package search (for your dates) 3 1/2*
