  1. I needed a hotel close to the airport since my day after Christmas flight home is early. Based on board posts here, I figured $55 was the lowest rate possible for this hotel. I tried $50 since it's Christmas night and they're likely not busy. It failed. Added Shepherdsville b/c I know there's no 3* in that zone, bid $55, and won. I remember a few years ago getting Christmas night hotels for much, much less. It looks like those crazy deals are long gone. Still, $55 isn't bad! Regular non-restricted website rate was $99 for this property. As always, linked through the PRICELINE icon here.
  2. Based on a win posted here, I had been trying to duplicate the 2.5* win at the Holiday Inn/LAX. I couldn't get it for these dates at the price previously won. Trying again last night, I thought I'd try 3*. There aren't any recent wins for a 3* near LAX, so I was going out on a limb and hoping for Embassy Suites (the last reported win). Started at $61 on a whim, rejected. Added Santa Monica knowing I wouldn't get it, but increased the bid to $66. Won with that. This newer hotel actually seems pretty cool with a hip vibe and modern look. Online prices were $139/night+... so pretty excited to check out this place. Parking is steep at $20/night, but other reviewers say there's plenty of free parking around the hotel. (As always, used the PRICELINE link here).
  3. You can add a new hotel to your list. 3* Best Western General Nelson I hesitated after my last post, hoping someone would identify the hotel. The option went away. Today, it came back, albeit a bit more expensive. I went ahead and booked 12/24-12/26 for $57/night (not great, since the website has it for about $10/night more w/out Hotwire fees). The *listed* amenities include: Complimentary Breakfast Pool(s) Business Center This property is also 100% smoke-free, although this isn't listed in the Hotwire amenities. I used the HOTWIRE link!
  4. Thanks. I had forgotten about that! (I ended up getting my company to pay for the room, so they used their own travel agent). ... and now, Bardstown? Bardstown, anyone?
  5. I ended up convincing my job to pay for it, who booked through a travel agent. Didn't use HOTWIRE or PRICELINE
  6. I'm looking to visit family in Bardstown 12/24 - 12/26. I see a 3* on Hotwire with the following amenities: Complimentary Breakfast Pool(s) Business Center Here's the thing: Bardstown doesn't have 3* properties. I checked the "regular" booking rates Hotwire also lists, and it shows the Hampton Inn for $88/night. But it also lists it as a 2 1/2-star property. My gut says it's the Hampton Inn (a good option), but it could also be the Best Western? Anyone have insight? Thanks!
  7. Just booked on priceline for 6/14/11 for one night. Regular Rate is $75 plus Tax. Usually stay away from 2* hotels, but put in a "wild" bid just to see... thinking I might get the Jameson based on postings to this board. I did. Started at $29 for Brunswick 3*. Rejected Added Jekyll Island and went to $31. Rejected. Went down to 2* and bid $34. Accepted Jameson Inn Brunswick 661 Scranton Road Brunswick, GA 31520 Room Cost (avg. per room, per night): $34.00 (USD) Number of Rooms: 1 Number of Nights: 1 Room Subtotal: $34.00 (USD) Taxes and Fees: $11.45 (USD) Total Room Cost: $45.45 (USD) Pet friendly plus breakfast is a plus. Reviews are mixed, but overall seems like a decent bet for a night given the price. As always, used the PRICELINE link from Better Bidding. Thanks!
  8. I'm striking out on this one, so any help someone can offer would be great! I'm looking for a 3* or better in Boston, close enough to walk to most attractions. The dates are 7/17--7/19. So far I've bid up to $103 per night in the following zones: Boston Harbor Front - Aquarium Boston Waterfront - Convention Center Cambridge Copley Square - Theatre District Fenway Park Details Quincy Market - Faneuil Hall - Financial I'd really like to stay under $100, and I see lots of winning bids below that amount. Are the dates I'm staying driving up the price? Should I wait until closer to my dates of travel? Thanks!
  9. It's weird, no--there was no oceanfront icon. There was a "near beach" icon only. However, looking at the confirmation from Hotwire, it says "Oceanfront" under the ammenities, and not "near beach." I'm not sure if that helps, but that's what it says! :) Thanks!
  10. Thanks Aaron--yeah, can't wait! A few days in Miami before a cruise promises to be a great vacation. I paid $64/night before taxes (price went down $2). The amenities listed for the 3* Central South Beach property were: Boutique, Near Beach, pool, restaurant, golf
  11. I decided to go with the known over the unknown, so got the Penguin. I guess the other possibility will remain a mystery! :) Used the HOTWIRE link from this website. Thanks for the help.
  12. Thanks! This one is "Central South Beach." I was able to figure out the other possibility, the one listed as South Beach-Ocean Drive, as Hotel Penguin. But I can't figure out the "centeral south beach" choice.
  13. Hi-- Can anyone help identify which hotel this could be? 3* Central South Beach Boutique, Near Beach, pool, restaurant, golf Dates: 10/23-10/25 Hotwire shows price of $66/night. Thanks!!
