  1. I'd like a bidding strategy on Venice hotels and how low can I go in the bid for the dates 15-17 Sep. I'm also willing to stay near the Marco Polo Airport if the hotels are cheaper. I'd like help on how to bid there also. Not sure how conveniently located public transport is from that area though as this is my first trip to Europe. But inputs will be appreciated on that. Thanks
  2. Hi, Starting a new thread here. I'd like a bidding strategy to get a hotel in Paris. I'd like to know what's the lowest I need to bid in each star category. I think I'm ok with any zone in the Paris area. I will be flying out of the Orly airport on the 15th Sep afternoon so not sure if it makes sense to stay close to Orly? Not sure how convenient and how much more expensive it will be to travel from there into Central Paris everyday. The dates are 12-15 Sep. How often should I try re-bidding? Should I divide the dates into two groups and book for separate hotels for Sunday and then Mon/Tue? Yesterday my bids upto 85 (incl 10 Entertainment Coupon) failed for even a 2* in the central Paris area - Bastille, OQE, Latin quarter, Eiffel tower, Champs Elysees. I also bid upto 70 for a 3* in the Republique and La Defense area. I'm not sure how safe it is in the La Defense area for a 2* hotel? Don't have an order of stay preference as long as I get a good deal and not far from public transport. Thanks Sushmita
  3. I actually picked up multiple 2010 entertainment cards thru ebay. You get a discount of upto 100 dollars (10 nights 1 room or multiple rooms and 10 per room). This discount is already inclusive in you bid. I hope this helps.
  4. Thanks for the wonderful advice Romelle. I am currently using the Entertainment Coupon of 10 off a night. I would also like to know at what point should I try rebidding since it looks like I'll be in Paris in a month's time. Should I try again the 1st of Sep? I will probably take your advice and stay with 3* hotels in the Paris area for now. What do you suggest as the starting bid for the La Defense area for the 3* hotels? I did try 80 (incl $10) coupon for a 4 star hotel in this area and got rejected.
  5. Bid till $95 for a 2 star including Bastille and still no luck for 12th to 15th Sep 2010. I would like your recommendations on the other areas in Paris - Republique and La Defence - Neuille specificaly the 2* and 3* hotels via Priceline. Is it worth bidding in these areas?
  6. Hi Thanks for the bidding strategy. I tried this for 12th Sep to 15th Sep for all the points mentioned below but it didn't work out. I guess I need to start bidding for a 2 star now. Should I adopt the same strategy for 2 star or will I have to wait 24 hrs on priceline before trying since I have already chosen all the areas when trying to the 3 star search? Also do I need to wait for a specific date for the prices to lower and try then? My choices of stay are only 1. Champs Elysees - Opera Quarter West 2. Eiffel Tower - Port De Versailles - Montparnasse 3. St. Germain - Latin Quarter - Montparnasse 4. Opera Quarter East - Les Halles
  7. I tried bidding for 3 star hotels in Vatican and Central Rome for the same time till $85 and even 2 star till $85 and didn't have any luck so I added the North area to finally win the bid for a 3 star for 85.
  8. Won bid for 3* hotel in Rome (North) on priceline for $85 (incl $10 cash bonus via Entertainment Coupon) for 3 rooms from 9/21/10 to 9/23/10. The hotel is Mercure Roma Corso Trieste North Via Gradisca 29 Rome, Italy 39-06-852021 the hotel website is priced at $129 for the same time period.
  9. I won a priceline bid for 2* hotel in Coquitlam - Burnaby area of Vancouver BC, Canada for 8/25/10 to 8/28/10 at Ramada Inn Coquitlam Vancouver for $50 (+$10 cash bonus per night through entertainment 2010 coupon that I purchase on ebay for $2). I basically saved an extra $30 using the coupon on the bid. I tried bidding in Vancouver area (Downtown Vancouver, City Hall, North Vancouver, BC area, Granville Entertainment District) for upto $66 for a 3 star and $62 for a 2.5 stars and finally got the bid accepted at $60 for a 2 star in the same areas.
  10. Won bid for 4* hotel (Atlante Garden) in Vatican city for $76 ($66 + $10 cash bonus) at PRICELINE from 8/21/10 to 8/23/10 for 3 rooms. It has some really good reviews. The unfortunate part was that I put in the wrong dates so I needed to cancel the transaction out. Priceline was kind enough to refund the whole amount except for a $25 fee if I made another booking with the corrected dates and it got accepted. I still need help to bid in Rome for 09/21/10 to 09/23/10 for a 3* or 4* hotels. Any help will be appreciated. I also need some help with booking in Venice from 09/19/10 to 09/21/10 and in Zurich from 09/13/10 to 09/19/10. Thanks Sush
  11. I won the same hotel yesterday for 76 a night per room for 21 Aug to 23 Aug.
