  1. Amenities: Airport Shuttle, Smoke Free Rooms, Complimentary Breakfast, Fitness Center, Business Center, Laundry Facilities, High-speed Internet Access Booked this the same day of stay. $95.90 after taxes and fees. Comfort Suites Newark, 1348 McCarter Hwy Part of the reason we booked this is because we were stuck at the airport and wanted something easy and close by with an airport shuttle. But the Airport Shuttle was $10 pp each way (and required a reservation), so it worked out cheaper to take a cab ($24 after tip). Hotwire should not advertise or should at least specify hotels that charge for shuttles!
  2. Booked this the same afternoon as intended stay. $61.69 after taxes and fees. The Sheraton website indicated a price of $134 (after taxes) for the same thing - so a decent savings. Amenities: Airport Shuttle, Fitness Center, Pool(s), Restaurant(s), High-speed Internet Access Sheraton Phoenix Airport Hotel Tempe Unfortunately, my flight to PHX was cancelled, so after an hour on the phone with Hotwire, they confirmed that with the airline and credited me the amount in "Hotdollars" to use with them within 1 year.
  3. I just booked my airfare yesterday, and got caught up in the bidding excitement a little too soon. I would much rather be staying in Soho / Mayfair, and added Kensington - Earls Court - Knightsbridge to a subsequent attempt. The hotel looks fine, but reviews indicate that it is far from the tube, which I am bummed about. I was hoping for a central location, or being able to get around easily. I don't mind walking - as long as the weather is decent - but we'll have luggage to deal with too... The hotel's website lists the cheapest rate that night as GBP 93 - so it is a good savings. Hilton London Olympia Kensington - Earls Court - Knightsbridge 380 Kensington High Street London, United Kingdom 44-207-6033333 Check-In Date: Tuesday, July 3, 2007 Check-Out Date: Wednesday, July 4, 2007 Subtotal: US$89.00 Taxes & Service Fees: US$23.44 Total Charges: US$112.44
  4. I don't think that you can choose all inclusive ahead of time with priceline. Note though, that HOTWIRE will tell you upfront whether it's an all-inclusive hotel or not.
  5. Lake George/Glen Falls area. Tried $40, $55, and $65 - rejected for 1, 2, and 3 stars. Then tried $72 and got this 3* ($88 after taxes/fees). Someone may have better luck somewhere between $65 and $72... Hotel's website rate appears to be around $150, and the cheapest hotel in the area was a 1* EconoLodge in Glen Falls for $79/night (for 2 double beds). Queensbury Hotel, 88 Ridge Street, Glens Falls, New York 12801
  6. I have been trying to priceline something in Asheville for this date for the past 2 weeks!!! I would have prefered a 2.5* or 3*, but had no luck with those (went as high as $58 for a 3* in all areas except airport - rejected; and went as high as $50 for a 2.5 star in all areas except airport - rejected). Finally, I got a win (although it's a bit bittersweet being in a 2* in Asheville West). (Otherwise, I was going to take a hotwire price of $62 for a 2.5 star in Central Asheville). The webrate for this is $69.99 (and I got it for $48) so a $22 savings. Ramada Plaza Hotel Asheville West 435 Smokey Park Highway Asheville, North Carolina 28806 828-665-2161 Your Offer Price: $48.00 Extend Your Stay Number of Rooms: 1 Number of Nights: 1 Subtotal: $48.00 Taxes & Service Fees: $12.97 Total Charges: $60.97
  7. On 5/2 I did about 5 or 6 attempts for a 3* in the area, increasing my geographic area for each one, and raising it by a dollar (I tried $30 - 35, when I won). I had already tried and been rejected with this geographic area (RTP), and after I added Durham too (I think) and raising it by a dollar, then I ended up getting this hotel in RTP. The best webrate for it is $152/night for those dates, so I'm happy with my $35 win! (Also, after my win I was given the option: "Happy with your hotel? Extend your stay for the same nightly rate." which I hadn't seen before - it's been a few months since I've pricelined anything - an interesting new option...) Wyndham Raleigh Durham Your Offer Price: $35.00 Extend Your Stay Number of Rooms: 1 Number of Nights: 2 Subtotal: $70.00 Taxes & Service Fees: $17.09 Total Charges: $87.09
  8. The amenities listed for it are: Restaurant(s), Fitness Center, Business Center The Hyatt website indicates that there is a pool too, but Hotwire doesn't list it. I did try various stars on priceline, admittedly bidding low there (a dollar above the notice that says it "has only a small chance of being accepted") -- I tried a 4 star for $75, a 3 star for $50, and a 2.5 star for $38 -- with no luck. I guess I might have gotten a 3* on priceline for under the $89 that I'm paying now if I kept trying - but I didn't want to wait 72 hours to try again...
  9. I'm usually a priceline person, but thought I'd check out hotwire. (After being rejected on priceline a few times for my bids around $90 for a 4*) and seeing that the only decent hotel I could afford on Hotels.com would be the Quality Inn on Crescent St. for $118/night. Hotwire offered me a best value - customer's favorite 4* for $89, and the user reviews indicated that it was a good location which was important to me - so I'll be staying at the Hyatt, 1255 Jeanne Mance Street, for $212.99 after taxes for 2 nights Columbus Day weekend. (Now if only I could bid for good weather!)
  10. I made lots of attempts in the $60-80 range for the 2 downtown areas (including 3 star, boutique, and 4 star) with no luck. Then I jumped from $80 to $85 in the 4 star category, struck out for North Michigan Ave - River North Area and then got it for Millennium Park, Loop & Grant Park Area. Hard Rock's website quotes $309 for its cheapest room on that night. I would rather be paying $85 for a 4 star than $80 for a 3 star anyway (which was rejected numerous times). There may be a "sweet spot" for a 4 star between $80 and $85 that I didn't find -- but I'll leave that to you... Your Offer Price: $85.00 Number of Rooms: 1 Number of Nights: 1 Subtotal: $85.00 Taxes & Service Fees: $20.39 Total Charges: $105.39
  11. I've been trying to priceline in Venice, Florence and Milan for the end of May. No luck on 4 or 5 stars in Venice or Florence yet, but I got a room in Milan on my first try. Priceline told me it's the Excelsior, but the linked website and address is the same as the Meridien. Its current web rate is 174 Euros (~$226). Even though some of you have said that the Meridien/Excelsior ( isn't in the best neighborhood and isn't a full 5 star, it will just be for 1 night, and with the current exchange rate, I'd be paying the same or more for a 1 or 2 star hotel in Milan without priceline! Excelsior Hotel Gallia Your Offer Price: $90.00 Number of Rooms: 1 Number of Nights: 1 Subtotal: $90.00 Taxes & Service Fees: $17.68 Total Charges: $107.68 I'd welcome any tips from others on Venice and Florence!
  12. I am planning to priceline either a 3*, 4* or 5* hotel room in Milan, Venice, Bologna, Florence, and possibly other cities (where priceline is available) in Northern Italy. Do any of these hotels provide parking with the cost of the room? If not, what is the typical cost of parking at the hotel? or do most hotels in these cities not have on-site parking, in which case, how close to the hotel is parking available, and at what cost? Thanks!
