  1. That shows: FULL AMENITIES: Free breakfast, Free parking, Free Internet, Pet friendly, Casino, Indoor pool(s), Fitness center, Pool(s), Business center, Self-service laundry, Internet access, Golf nearby Interestingly, the Bidding.Helper.com site shows 2 other 2.5* listings for Henderson. I click though one ($38/night) and see the annotation "last person got Fiesta Henderson," which means the added $10 ripoff fee, and a $58/night non-casino hotel. And then there's the $42/night that I originally saw. In doing some more research, I'm thinking this might be the Hawthorne.
  2. I shall state up front that I am not ready to purcahse yet. I haven't requested the days off from work yet, although I am planning to, and I am just doing research for a planned trip. Dates: Wednesday, November 25 to Monday, November 30. Found in today's search: 2.5* in Henderson for $42/night--and no ripoff fees indicated in the listing (my #1 criterion for selection) Listed as "Henderson - Southeast area all-suites hotel" Amenities Business center Casino Fitness center Free Internet Free breakfast Free parking Indoor pool(s) Pet friendly Pool(s) TripAdvisor 4 out of 5 (301 - 500 reviews) Hotwire customer reviews 80% recommended (79 total reviews) The only 2.5* currently listed in the hotel lists in the zone is Aston Montelago, which has a 63% rating on TripAdvisor with 252 reviews and does not, as far as I can tell, have a casino, so it doesn't seem like it's the property in the listing. I know Sunset Station is considered a 3* (and has a ripoff fee). Not sure what Fiesta Henderson is considered, but it also has a ripoff fee, and I know Green Valley Ranch is considered 4* (and also with a ripoff fee). So I'm wondering if anyone has any educated guesses for what this might be. (And if it's likely to be a decent place, I might just put in that time off request quickly and grab it, going through the link of course.)
  3. Was just looking for a place to crash for a night on the drive back from Arizona to the Bay Area after a Jan 2. bowl game. Decided to go ahead and give this price a try, even though I saw no listings for this level. The property gets 3.5* review average on TripAdvisor, which I definitely can't complain about, especially for a 2* property. The published rates for this one night are $55. Amenities: Free parking Free breakfast Free Internet Pool(s) Restaurant(s) Internet access
  4. There are plenty of places to find the dishonest resort fees. What I'm talking about is on the hotel star level-zone-amenities list, add the amount of the resort fee to those listings. It's one more piece of data that would help identify hotels--which is the purpose of these lists.
  5. To help identify hotels, I wonder if it'd be helpful to show the "resort" fees that many (but fortunately not all) Vegas hotels add on to their listed prices. I know this is information that might get out of date sometimes, but it still might help in hotel identifiaction.
  6. When I saw the 2 1/2* room on this zone, I had hoped for the Holiday Inn Desert Club Resort, a property listed in the hotel lists here. What I got instead? The Royal Resort. The listed amenities: Free Parking Condo Resort Fitness Center Pool(s) Restaurant(s) Business Center Self service laundry Internet access Problems with this property are many. It's not a "condo." Heck, it's not even a "resort," depite the name. It doens't get the "80% recommended" the blind listing claims (It's 57% on TripAdvisor). And it's barely a 2* property, not even close to the 2 1/2* that Hotwire claims. P.S. Bid thru the BetterBidding HOTWIRE link.
  7. Thanks for the info. To update, as requested, I ended up booking for this weekend the Eastside Cannery for $31/night (non-blind). Not sure they offer rooms via Hotwire; I think only Sam's Town rooms are in that area at that star level--but non-blind rooms seem to be cheaper here at EC that any other places blind, and include free wifi as well. It's newer property with very nice rooms. If you're looking to stay in this area of Vegas on HOTWIRE, I'd actually recommend trying to find deals on the consolidator websites, which will often be better than what HOTWIRE offers for other properties. On a related note, thinking about returning for Thanksgiving, and this same 3.5* condo pops up on HOTWIRE for $66/night. One of these days I might take the deal, and if so, I'll post it on here.
  8. Interesting guess. It's a nice place all right. But I'm seeing a non-blind price for that property for $81/night from several sources. I'd be pretty ticked off if I took that Hotwire bid and saw these listings. It looks like there's a dearth of data in that zone for 3.5* properties. Wonder if they just don't get taken that often because most people probably prefer Strip rooms.
  9. I had such a nice time celebrating my (mmph mmph) birthday in Vegas last summer by staying much more "upscale" than I'm used to (I found a decent deal at the Platinum for $100/night) that I'm thinking of doing it again. And part of my research os to look at the rates in mid-August on Hotwire. And I found something very intriguing, something that I can't identify from the current hotel lists. I found it be restricting my search results on Hotwire to condos only. This is a 3.5* property in the near Strip - east zone. for Aug. 14-19, I'm seeing a rate of $85/night--and with no "resort" fees. It's rated 100% in reviews and has the following amenities listed: This Condo features the following amenities: Suite Free Parking Free Internet Studio Air-Conditioning Fitness Center Pool(s) Restaurant(s) 24-hour Front Desk Golf Nearby Tennis Nearby Spa Services Kitchenette Accessible for the blind Accessible path of travel In-room accessibility Accessible bathroom Handicapped parking Roll-in shower Condo I want to make it clear that I'm still in the early research stage and am not "ready" to bid yet--I"ve not even committed to taking this trip. Yet. It's just an idea. (Nut one that might very wall happen.) But finding this has me curious, and a deal such as this might tip my hand. So I appreciate any info anyone might have.
  10. I'm not sure how easy of difficult this might be with the forum software, but in the (incredibly useful) hotel lists, I think it'd help people find what they are looking for if what I would call the section headers (that identify each zone) were formatted a bit differently. I would expect many users scroll and scan quickly down these pages, and making these headings stand out would help scannability and increase findability. What I'd suggest, instead of "just" underlining these, which doesn't make them stand out all that much, I'd increase the font size and make them bold. So instead of, for example, this: Las Vegas (Downtown) 4* Golden Nugget Amenities: Resort, Casino, Restaurant, Pool, Fitness, Hi-Speed Internet, Business, Spa OR Amenities: Suite, Resort, Casino, Restaurant, Pool, Fitness, Hi-Speed Internet, Business, Spa 3* Four Queens Amenities: Casino, Restaurant, Laundry I'd suggest something like this: Las Vegas (Downtown) 4* Golden Nugget Amenities: Resort, Casino, Restaurant, Pool, Fitness, Hi-Speed Internet, Business, Spa OR Amenities: Suite, Resort, Casino, Restaurant, Pool, Fitness, Hi-Speed Internet, Business, Spa 3* Four Queens Amenities: Casino, Restaurant, Laundry
  11. I suspected this was the Polo Towers when Hotwire offered a "condo" after checking the hotel lists here. Very nice price for Super Bowl weekend. Amenities Free Parking Smoke Free Rooms Air-Conditioning Fitness Center Pool(s) Business Center 24-hour Front Desk Laundry Facilities (self-service) Kitchenette Accessible for the deaf Accessible path of travel In-room accessibility Wheelchair accessible Accessible bathroom Handicapped parking Roll-in shower
  12. Booked 9/14. Amenities Casino Fitness Center Pool(s) Restaurant(s) Business Center High-Speed Internet Access Golf Nearby Tennis Nearby Spa Services Accessible for the deaf Free Parking Accessible path of travel In-room accessibility Accessible bathroom Handicapped parking Roll-in shower Late check in, asked for a "quiet, upper floor" room. Got what I was later told an "upgraded" room on the 27th floor (facing south with a Strip view) that was the "lounge" part of a 2-room suite. It was a rather large room with a couch, two chairs, and several small tables and a nice sized flat screen TV and a desk. But the bed was a Murphy bad low to the floor--although not entirely uncomfortable and I did sleep well. But I did get noise from the room next door late one night and from being right next to the elevator shaft and vending room. Bathroom nicely upgraded, lots of counter space, large tub. There was no line at check in. The room was clean and I detected no smoke in it or the hallways. Wifi, regrettably, is not complimentary, but they do not impose a dishonest "resort" fee. The LVH used to be the Las Vegas Hilton, and before that the Intercontinental (when it was first built by Kirk Kirkorian). It got yet another new owner on November 1. The new owners are initially vowing to make this an "upscale" destination hotel again and are trying to get the name "Intercontinental" back. It has its own monorail stop, but it's well away from the Strip action. It's easy to get to by car: take I-15 to Sahara east, go past Las Vegas Boulevard and turn right at the light after Paradise. After the next light, you turn right into the north garage, and it's a short walk to registration.
  13. Here's the amenities list: Airport Shuttle Fitness Center Pool(s) Business Center Laundry Facilities (self-service) High-Speed Internet Access Accessible for the blind Accessible for the deaf Free Parking Free Breakfast Free Internet Accessible path of travel In-room accessibility Accessible bathroom Handicapped parking This is a nice place is a pretty convenient location. Sure, it's not walking distance to mid-strip, but lots of little stores and restaurants are within walking distance (including In N Out), and it's 5 minutes to mid-Strip by car. The breakfast is pretty good too.
  14. Spotted this price a few days ago--but it was listed as 4*. Price went up, then listing appeared again as 3.5*. Price dropped again today, looks like only 3.5* in the zone with a casino. Looks like Hotwire is starting to recognize the property is going downhill, at least according to TripAdvisor reviews. Amenities: Casino Fitness Center Pool(s) Restaurant(s) Business Center High-Speed Internet Access Golf Nearby Tennis Nearby Spa Services Accessible for the deaf Free Parking Accessible path of travel In-room accessibility Accessible bathroom Handicapped parking Roll-in shower
  15. Doesn't quite match any of the hotels listed for 2* in that area. Amenities (full list): Free parking Casino Pool(s) Restaurant(s) Laundry facilities (self service) Throwing me for a bit of a loop because most of the cheaper places in that area don't have casinos, and those that do charge dishonest "resort" fees. I'm wondering is an ESA property threw some slots in their lobby--or if "Casino" means it's a non-ESSA property (because the one out on Boulder Highway gets atrocious reviews on TripAdvisor).
  16. Yeah, it's a good rate, but the place is an absolute dump. I stayed there last month, and I would say it doesn't even come close to reaching the quality of a 2-star establishment. I wrote Hotwire (which is where I got this property, hoping for the Super 8 on Koval) asking them to re-evaluate the star rating.
  17. For Fri, 8/13 thru Mon, 8/16, 3*, $45/night Amenities: Smoke free rooms, airport shuttle, pool, restaurant, business center, high-speed internet access. No resort fee. Don't see any matches in current hotel list. Thanks!
