  1. Some Hotwire Insight: It does happen occasionally that a location will "forget" to remove themselves from the listings, thus continueing to accept reservations when in reality their already sold out. Its in no way a fault of Hotwire, but an inconvenience not taken lightly and do everything they can to try and fix it for you. Just understand, HOTWIRE can't control whether a hotel has the availability they promise.
  2. As an ex-employee of Hotwire I can inform you on this. Hotwire gaurentees you the car for the dates provided. If you need it longer, Hotwire is no longer involved unless you book for the additional dates ( and it would be a different booking, thus meaning you may have to return the previous car and pick up another depending the agencys cooperation ). However if you choose to return it early, generally there is no fee. I would however advise looking in the rental agreement the agency will provide for more specific information.
  3. Hotwire cannot gaurentee the number of beds in the room... but it does guarentee there will be accomodations seen fit to suit the number of guests booked. More often then not, its 2 queen beds. But it could be a number of options... Including but not limited to: 2 queens 2 kings 2 full size 2 twins 1 queen and a hideaway 1 king and a hideaway
  4. Its not invitation only. Our Express members are individuals who express their loyalty to the brand, and are frequent users of the company. As being so, their business is highly valued and because we appreciate such dedication... there are definitely perks to it :). ---- In other words, there is no invitation. You might not even know your express. The system automatically recognizes users who love our product.
  5. If this was booked with HOTWIRE: It states there may be additional fee's charged by the hotel. The reason they aren't able to provide you with the amounts, let alone include them in the rates, is because we don't have access to the hotels inventory and their prices for things such as Parking, Room Service, and etc are constantly changing. It would be impossible to stay in such communication with the thousands of hotels we service.
  6. NEVER DO THIS. There is absolutely NO guarantee you will get the same exact hotel. None at all. I can't count the number of times I've ran into this problem. So please... just input the correct information and trust the system. Hotwire cannot guarantee the same hotel, and you most likely won't have much luck getting it changed if you don't receive the same accommodation as before.
  7. Simple. You search results are populated based on your preferences, needs, and whether or not the hotel has the accommodation. The number of beds required, the number of people staying, the number of nights, the amenitys required... It all is taken into serious consideration when the system processes your search results. I've had cases while talking to a customer where I was looking at a completely different set of results then the customer, when we had ( what I thought ) was the exact same perimeters. Turned out she had 1 too many occupants and the hotel couldn't provide for that number of people for 1 room :). Some hotels only have 1 bed rooms , or maybe all their 2 bed rooms were occupied. Its definitely not some type of sham, or anything close to shady. Theres always a reason behind situations like that, but its hard to pinpoint the exact cause.
  8. As an ex-employee of Hotwire.... we truly hope you call in if you arrive at your destination and its not the quality we promised. We will ALWAYS do whatever it is in our power to help you out in the situation. You have to understand though, that as a business AND a 3rd party organization... There are certain legal limitations to which we have to abide. Its not easy for us to just shell out $xx when something goes wrong, simply because the product's provider is STILL going to be expecting the funds for that reservation regardless if you go or not. --- Not sure where you heard that there are NEVER any refunds made... Or that we don't care... Quite honestly, I've had customers call in and completely ruin my day because of what they were going through. Not because they were irate by any means, but there are times when its an honest story and its pretty emotional. Despite how we may feel... It really is a horrible experience to tell someone whos in tears that you cannot help them due to the legally binding contract to which they agreed. Of course there are fake ones, but with just a touch of experience... letting your heart go out to the real ones is second nature. I'm glad you were still able to be taken care of, even so long down the road... But for future reference, call them. I worked with some great people, every call is different to us.
  9. Yes, booking prior to travel is often times the best route to take. You can usually nail a great deal, but you have to be certain your plans are locked in. The Terms of Use doesn't leave much room for error. I would definitely promote planning ahead, and I'm not surprised at all by the rates you received... Its not often your even within a 20$ range of the walk-in price.
  10. It does clearly state in the terms of use, that there are certain locations who may charge additional fee's for items such as, but not limited to: Parking, Convention or Resort fees, Room service, Internet, Room service... etc. And it does suggest contacting your hotel prior to arrival, to inquire about the additional charges. Taking the fact that when booking a Hotrate... it does follow the Opaque model which means you don't know what hotel your receiving until booking is complete... So for future reference, be sure to read over the entire list of your preferences amenities. Often times it will state whether its a resort or not. And to be honest, this isn't Hotwires fault... If you go somewhere like Disney World or etc, they almost always charge for parking... and if your on the beach or something... Expect to be in a resort. ( There is a amenity for resort though, so be on the look out :) ) Kade
