  1. we have stayed there many times, and I personally have had many little issues with the hotel. For the money though you can't go wrong, good luck
  2. read on one of the cruise sites that I visit that somebody just won a $45 bid on Priceline for the 3* Holiday Inn Fort Lauderdale Airport Hotel. This is one of the 3* listings on this site....seems like a descent hotel
  3. why can't you say everything will be fine, there should be no other hotels to screw things up for me, lol! Family of 5 on tight cruise budget we need to cut where we can....
  4. k, will do..I was under the impression that I should start a new thread when I have other questions about where to stay. So...my new question in regards to this trip is if we use Priceline and use the success stories I have read on here about 3* FLL Airport Hotels, it looks like the Summerfield Suites and a couple of others that are on the list of hotels, we should come up with a reasonable rate for. We called each hotel directly and they all accept families of 5, and even their King Bed rooms have pullouts, and cribs are available. To me, there is little we can lose by using the above method, as long as this list is updated. If you guys think I am on the right track, I will likely pull the trigger this week, and of course report back our results. Cheers
  5. I hear ya, never an easy decision when travelling with so many of us!! The more I think about it, the more I think the best thing to do is find a hotel near FLL that offers a shuttle the first night we arrive than rent a car to take us to the Port of Miami on our last day...if you guys are okay with it I will open up another thread with another question I have in regards to a property we found on this site. Thanks a million.
  6. we have booked the Marriott in Amherst New York a couple of times on PRICELINE and have never had an issue with double occupany, or getting a room to fit us all. We have heard that the Marriott chain is one that usually will accommodate families the size of ours. I have never used Hotwire to search anything because of my perceived added cost, but maybe I will fool around with it tonight. This is why the Courtyard in Coral Gables is tempting to take a chance on, along with others success of winning their bid for this property. I have to first decide I guess if we are best to stay in FLL before we cruise out of Miami, or book somewhere in Miami..
  7. we wound up staying at the Best Western Grove City, for $90 with a AAA rate. This was the best rate for us for a hotel that would allow us to have 5 people in a room. You are correct in that we have no guarantee of a big enough room if we booked on PRICELINE. The Holiday Inn would have run us around $140.
  8. any chance you can clarify how you went about your bidding process for this win? ie. 3*, or 4, etc?
  9. Guys thinking about maybe staying a few nights before our cruise in November at the Miami Coral Gables Courtyard with the great PRICELINE link found here. I see a number of you have success, but my question is whether or not the room we book will be one of our choice, not just a King Bed? I am travelling with a family of 5, so we need 2 doubles/crib. I also see other hotels in the area that are listed as 3* so how guaranteed are we to get this particular hotel? Hope this is the right place to post this, and thanks.
  10. would I get this same rate for the room to sleep 5? 2 beds and a crib?
  11. I'd like to know if they offer free shuttle to the airport as well... hope OP checks back here to reply
  12. we have been told many times that if you book on priceline you can park there for free and get a shuttle to the airport no charge
  13. we actually found this out kind of with the Best Western...they allowed us to bring our own pack n play crib because we are 5. My problem with PRICELINE could have been that some of my seraches I did for a family of 2 adults and 3 kids, instead of 2. Used Buff Amherst Marriott in the past and only said 2 kids and had some success (up until this long weekend though). cheers
  14. hey, thanks for moving this, thought it should have gone here but wasn't sure. Yes we are trying for Sat. night, and our rate at the HI was $133, ouch! Tried the Four Points found on the PRICELINE links, but shows sold out. Found a Grove City rate at the Best Western for $90 AAA rate, so not bad I guess, but was hoping for a bit nicer hotel for my kids to destroy and keep the rest of the hotel up at night!
  15. Hey Guys First post, so hope this is in the right place. We have booked a 1 night stay at the Clarion Holiday Inn for Saturday night, just looking to get away for 1 night and shop the outlet mall in Grove City. We are paying full pop, so I was hoping to find something cheaper. We know the drive may be 45 mins or so, but nonetheless....I have searched the forums here but can't find anything available. Any tips on what else to do? Can I find out if the Holiday Inn Clarion is offered on priceline for me to bid? Any other hotels in the Erie/Clarion area you would suggest I try? I see the Hampton Inn and Wyndham are listed on here at 2.5* in Clarion but their sites should sold out. Should I try to bid anyhow? Simply bid 2.5* in Clarion Penn and see if I get lucky? Lots of q's, hope to get answers. Cheers
