  1. Surprisingly only took 3 bids, started at $45, added a zone tried at $50. Priceline then asked me if I wanted a free bid with a price jump to $59 I declined. I then added another zone and increased to $52 and that did it.
  2. Took 2 days to bid. Started from $75 dollars in $2 to 5 dollar increments finally got it at $90 for 2 rooms on second day. Comes to $414 after taxes. At Hotwire it was priced at $95, so not bad. I could have waited till closer to the date to possibly get a better rate, but I didn't feel like waiting. I think it would have been hard to get a lower rate too for a Fri/Sat night July 8-10th. I'm not looking forward to the louvred bathroom wood panels at the Westin, but I guess I can live with it for a couple of days.
  3. I'm also going in July in SEA. I have a feeling that it's still too early as I bid on PRICELINE and didn't win at $ 91, even though the past calendar bids have won at that price for 4 stars @ Pike area in july. I'd also like to wait in late June to see what people are winning to see if I even want to bid. My backup plan is to stay at the doubletree by the airport- 3.5 stars and book on their website, if there are no rooms to bid and win for at a reasonable price. The monorail in SEA is very convenient so I'm not worried.
  4. This is certainly very disappointing about Sorrento being added to the 4 star pike area. I guess I will wait till closer to July or end of June and see what people are winning. And if this hotel names comes up on the winning page I will have to consider hotwire perhaps. I read reviews on this hotel on Expedia, although they have good service it's 12 blocks from downtown. And by the way the walk is uphill, as people have complained about ! And it's near a hospital so sirens can be heard.
  5. I've thought about doing this before but never tried. You'll never know until you try. I might give this a try myself next time. You could give the sales department a call and let us know what they said. Worst is they say no and that's it.
  6. Used the PRICELINE link from here and pretty much knew it would be the Sheraton gateway as it was the trend of the wins here. I originally started in the 50's for 4* then tried $65, $68 and was rejected. Finally at $70 it was accepted, plus tax it came to $83 US. Seems to be slightly higher compared to some bids won for July. Weird thing is that I used a bid combination ABCD that I had already used more than 24 hours ago but I thought that wasn't allowed per itinery. I'm pretty sure I used the combo as I jot it all down as it's my first time bidding. It was the combo of: LAX area, lawnsdale, culver and redondo. Great that it worked as it was the last bid possibility. Before bidding I checked up on Expedia, hotwire.com and the hotelweb site to use as a comparison as I'm Canadian and would have to factor in the foreign exchange and the credit card currency fees. With this bid the savings is about $15 per night compared to Expedia, since internet access in the room is extra I'm thinking. But I called and they do have free internet access in the lobby. One thing that's a bonus is that this is a 4* non smoking hotel. To me that's worth forking out extra. I dreaded the thought of winning the 3.5 Crown plaza which is significantly less, but has awful smoking comments on reviews I have read.
