How about the PL express deal: 4* Opera Quarter East $100 with Internet Any clue as to which hotel this may be? Thinking about starting in the $80 range for this level at NYOP, but first curious what the above hotel might be? Thanks!

I'm willing to pay more for a 5*. Since the 4* priceline express deal is only $100, I would expect to bid less for a NYOP 4*, maybe in the $80 -90 range. That's a big difference in price from the 5*, that's why I was curious as to what hotel it would be. For a 5*, I'd certainly be willing to pay more, about $180.

I've had great success with Price.line NYOP, and was prepared to use them today (I'm pretty sure I would have gotten the same hotel for a lot less.) But that's ok, a good lesson for me. I will definitely ask for help in the future. Your assistance is valuable.

Just spoke with a manager at Hotwire. He stated based on their terms of use, they are within their rights to advertise prices for the room you are buying using a "broad" range of all hotels in the area even if the hotel you are getting does not sell for that price. I will know next time I want to buy a hotel room from Hotiwire (which I won't, I don't see the benefit of using them at this point), just because the selection chosen says the hotel sells for a certain price, it may likely not in all actuality.

This was a Hotwire End of Summer Sale Hot Rate advertised by Hotwire as: 5 Star Regularly $508 per night, on sale for $223 per night, saving 56% off of the regular rate Fitness, Business, Internet No where can I find where the Renaissance sells for $508 per night, so this was a huge let down. On their regular booking engine, Hotwire is currently selling this hotel for $246 per night, the direct Marriott rate is $209. Hotwire is advertising other hotels in the $500 range, such as De L'Europe for $508 per night, The Hotel Sofitel Legend for $530, The Andaz Amsteram Prinsenfracht for $477, etc. I've been on the hold with Hotwire waiting for a manager for the last hour trying to resolve it, first customer service person did ask if I took a screen shot, unfortunately I did not. Now I know, before booking anything opaque, to take screen shots! I hope this was a genuine mistake on Hotwire's part, not a bait and switch. Buyer beware! I did book through the HOTWIRE link from this site, don't know if there is any tracking here that could help.

In an effort to land a 4* property in Monterey, I used J-R's recent strategy as a guide for our dates of 8/2/10-8/4/10 for 2 rooms. I checked the following sites for rates: Intercontental - $219 Marriott - $229 Hotwire - $129 (with these amenities: Smoke Free, High Speed Internet & Golf) Used Priceline link and bid the following: Zone 3, 4*, $99 - Rejected Added Zone 4, $106 - Rejected Started new bid, Zone 3 + Zone 1, 4*, $111 - Received a counter offer of $131 and turned it down Added Zone 4, $114 - Rejected Started new bid, Zone 3 + Zone 2, 4*, $117 - Rejected Added Zone 4, $119 - Rejected Started new bid, Zone 3 + Zone 1 + Zone 2, 4*, $121 (I believe this is where I received my second counter offer of $141 and turned it down) Added Zone 4, $124 - WON! Marriott Monterey for $124 per night. Thanks for the bidding help! Don't think I could have done it without you guys~
