  1. Well walking distance would be nice, but I'm starting to get the idea that I won't find something that close without dishing out more cash, so i guess within a ten minute cab ride/drive would be accpetable. Should i look into Renton? Hotwire has some places there for $47 a night! Josh
  2. Hello, I am going to be in Seattle for one night and would like a hotel close to Pike Place. I'm not picky on star ratings although a two star would be a minimum. I would be willing to spend anywhere from $50-75. A bidding strategy would be greatly appreciated as I am not sure what hotels go for in this area. Thanks, Josh
  3. Rejected at $80 for 3* and 2.5*in Jersey City. Any higher than that and its not worth staying in Jersey. I'll wait until the end of the month to see if the Hotwire rates change, and if not, I'm going to cancel the Eastgate Towers in NYC and book a 2 star in NYC (either the Grand Union for $116 or Best Western for $118) for the entire week through EasyClickTravel. I appreciate all the help through this website, but its too bad that Priceline didn't work out for me. Josh
  4. Priceline has never suggested that I raise my prices by any amount, does that mean that I'm not even close??? Josh
  5. 3 days... I bid $75 for a 3* in jersey city and then re-bid adding the *2.5 for $75 as well. Both rejected. I'll wait another 3 days and bid $80. Since that is my max for the Jersey side, I guess I'll add in the 2*level and see if I can get the Candlewood suites. Josh
  6. Another 3 days... Rejected at $70, I guess I'll just wait until rates drop before I look at other areas. What would be the second best area to stay for commuting to NYC daily besides Jersey City in case the rates don't drop. Josh
  7. With regards to some other posts, I tried changing my dates around to get lower rates on Hotwire to no avail. In fact, I tried most weeks in early summer and all the rates were high. I also tried adding dates and cutting some dates making my trip shorter to no avail. Josh
  8. Ok, 3 days have passed. I was rejected at $60 for 3* and $62 2.5* in Jersey City. I'm not too surprised by these results and I hope prices drop before my trip. In case they don't, do you have any alternative suggestions, possibly getting the Four Points by Newark Airport?? Thanks, Josh
  9. After seeing rates skyrocket on Hotwire, I'm a little skeptical on the $55 bid. SInce I'm willing to pay 75 or 80 dollars a night, should I just bid $75 and have a better chance of being accepted?? Or does it not work that way? Josh
  10. OH NO!! My browser was displaying $83 earlier today but they just went up to $286. I tried backtracking to the $83 rate but it said the offer had expired. How can this happen???? That is more than what Hyatt is selling the room for. Hopefully someone can help me out here. Josh
  11. Not sure about the $265 on Hotwire you mentioned. I just checked it and they have a 3.5* for $83/night(which I'm told is the Hyatt). I hope I have the right area designated (Hoboken- Jeresey City). Josh
  12. Rejected I tried $50 for a 3* Jersey City and was rejected. I thought $48 was low-balling a bit and i guess so is $50. I'll bid again in 3 days, any ideas on how much i should bid? Thanks, Josh
  13. Ok, i bought the Eastgate towers for $151, looks like a nice place. I used the link you provided so hopefully that helps out the site. Now I'll move onto the New Jersey side of things. Thanks, Josh
  14. Ok, I used the previous strategy for a 3* in NYC to no avail. I even added $5 to make my final offer $135 for ME, MW or MS. I guess there is quite a lot of demand for these nights, as Hotwire's prices are pretty high also. That $151 3* is looking pretty good if I can get a good deal on the NJ side. Thanks Josh
  15. Hello, I am looking for a 3* hotel in Jersey City for June 20-24. Hotwire is offering a 3.5*(I think the Hyatt??) for $82/night for these dates. I will be mixing my stay with a 2 night stay in NYC. What should i bid? THank you Josh
  16. Thanks both of you, I really do appreciate all the work that goes into keeping this site running. I like the idea of backtracking. Now that I have had some time to think about what things actually cost, I have negotiated with the wife to split our stay between New Jersey and New York I would like a bidding strategy for a 3* hotel in Jersey City for June 20th - 24th plus a bidding strategy for a 3* hotel in NYC(ME, MW) for Fri June 24th and the 25th. I will post the Jersey strategy on that page as well. Thank you for your patience, I promise this is the last strategy. Josh
  17. I stopped at $115 after I read a post by "KRXNLS", topic "New York June 17 to 22" on this message board. You gave him almost the exact same bidding strategy as me but his was for a 4*. In his post he says he won the Hilton(a 4*) in MW for $110!!!!! I am a little confused on how that works since i was rejected in all areas at 115 and I was bidding for a 3*. My dates are only 3 days after his (june 20-25) Josh
  18. Hello, Thanks for the link. Unfortuantly, i have been rejected in all three of my areas up to $115/night. Since my dates are not set in stone, is their any days such as weekends to avoid? My second question is how much more I would have to bid to get a 4*? I saw someone else on the message board getting a 4* for $110 a night around my dates in Midtown. Thanks, Josh
  19. Thank you for that bidding strategy, As I am a bit weary of this whole priceline thing, i was wondering if you could give me a list of the 3 star hotels that Priceline awards in MW, ME, and MS. That would be greatly appreciated so i could have an idea of what i would be getting. Thanks, if this is not possible, don't worry about it Josh
  20. Ok, thanks for checking that. The link you provided showed a rate of $109 but when i proceeded it turned out to be 130. Although without the booking fee it still was $15 cheaper overall than quikbook.com I would still like a bidding strategy however for Priceline, in MS, ME, and MW for June 20-25, 2005 for a 3* hotel. Thanks Josh
  21. Thanks for the speedy reply, this is my first time using this site and I'm very impressed. I would like to stay in the same hotel in Manhatten for the whole 5 nights for convenience purposes. My best quote so far was from Quikbook.com at the GRAND UNION hotel in midtown for $114 a night. As this is only a 2-star hotel, i would like a strategy for priceline so that I can find a better hotel around the same price. An extra 10 or 15 dollars a night isn't an issue (max 130/night). Is that possible during this week according to past bids or should i stick with the Grand Union? Thanks, Josh
  22. Hello. I'm looking to go to Manhatten for a week during restaurant week (June 20-25) and have never bid using Priceline. Any suggestions on what neighbourhoods i could get a 2.5-3* hotel for around $100/night? Thank you, Joshua
