  1. This is what shows when you see it on Hotwire. I found it after clikcing on the Holiday Inn Laurel West, then it offered me this. 3* $59 90% recommended 0.5 - 4.2 mi from Holiday Inn Laurel West - I-95/Rt 198W Free Breakfast, Free Parking, Free Internet, Pool(s), Pet friendly, Fitness Center, Business Center and more ...
  2. I am very happy camper!!! The hotwire $59 3* was the Holiday Inn Express and Suites Laurel. JUst what I wanted. Thanks for all your help...
  3. It also lists "indoor pool" specifically with the amenities.. In addition to the ones above
  4. Ok Just tried the same search on hotwire.. Clicked on Holiday Inn Laurel West and it gave the option "Same star level in area for way less"... 3* $59 90% recommended 0.5 - 4.2 mi from Holiday Inn Laurel West - I-95/Rt 198W Free Breakfast, Free Parking, Free Internet, Pool(s), Pet friendly, Fitness Center, Business Center and more ... According to my search Holiday Inn Express and Suites Laurel, is the only hotel with those amenities... What do you think?
  5. On Hotwire I can put up to 2 Ad and 2 Children.. I'll try that...
  6. We have 4 children, and I can't really afford to get 2 rooms.. So I put that into the search. Thats what peeked my interest in the Hol Inn Express and Suites.. All their rooms have a pull out, even the ones that have 2 queens... I would settle for 2 beds period and bring sleeping bags if I needed too.. That not out of the question.. We have definitely done that before.. Just want somewhere comfy, clean and nice. Where we can relax and enjoy an indoor pool if it rains.. ***So is it better to use HOTWIRE instead of Priceline?**
  7. I'm searching now, makes you want to pull your hair out!! I can really stay in any area around DC.. What I am looking at is hopefully getting a room with the 2 beds and the pull out... SO when I think I have the guess on a hotel, I have been calling to make sure they will let me choose my room after I am done booking... Ay yay yay!!
  8. As I am ;looking at it again it appears to be the Sleep Inn and Suites Laurel.... The only difference is the pool is listed as outdoor, but it's actually indoor.. But when I calculate to 40% off it comes to exactly $55 which is what it is listed at this morning... or Fairfield Inn Laurel
  9. I was really looking for something that had breakfast included since we will have the kids along and meals get quite costly. Also the Holiday Inn Express and Suites has quite large rooms, but their regular rate is a little pricey for us right now, just trying to take the kids on a quick trip to see the sights, hoping to save as much $ as possible.
  10. Totally forgot to follow up 3 years ago.......I wound up winning another hotel, which was quite pleasant. But for the life of me I can't remember which one.
  11. I was getting ready to purchase this, thinking I had it pegged for Hol Inn Express and Suites in Laurel, when I realized its listed with an outdoor pool... Hol Inn has an indoor pool. Please let me know your opinions as to what this hotel is.. Thanks in Advance PRICELINE EXPRESS $56/nt 7/17-7/20/14 2* Rated 7.0 out of 10 (or higher) Guaranteed Amenities: Free Breakfast Free Internet in room Outdoor Swimming Pool Free Parking Business Center Fitness Center
  12. After three days of going with every skill I know for Priceline and bidding between 2.5 and 3* properties as high as $75. I gave up last night and gave it a break because I really didn't want to go that high. This morning I got up again and began my bidding process once more using a local town to state college to bypass the 24 hours limit. First bid was $45, received the counteroffer of $51 and took it. Although not overly excited for this property it has good reviews and will do just fine... Used the PRICELINE link to bid. Offer Price: avg. per room, per night $51.00 Rooms: 1 Nights: 3 Room Subtotal: $153.00 Taxes & Fees: $23.37 Total Charged to Card: $176.37
  13. Thanks for your response.. I guess I'll just bid at the 2.5* level in the North region as there are only 3*'s available in the south region I should be safe...n not wind up with the Atherton... Thanks again for the advice..
  14. I will be in State College from 7/31 - 8/4 on a business trip. I am getting ready to bid on my hotel and was interested in a 3* in the State College North or South areas... I would even do a 2.5* as I stayed at a really nice one last year. But I would like to try 3* first.. Now when I put in those dates on the regular priceline part (prices and hotel name revealed) the Atherton isn't showing up for those dates.. I also tried Expedia, Travelocity etc. and the atherton is coming up as no rooms available for my dates.. Does this mean that I have a very good chance of not getting the atherton.. or is it possible that they still have priceline rooms avail? 3* are only available in the south region and that is exactly where the atherton is located. Thanks in advance,
  15. Thanks so much for your reply... We haven't decided whether or not this trip is a definite as I have a conference at the beginning of that week .. So we'll have to see... I'll definitely use the PRICELINE link if we decide its a definite.. N post my win here
  16. Just decided that hubby and I will be taking a trip together from 8/3 to 8/7.. Was considering going to Manhattan as it is somewhere I have never really had a chance to go for an extended period of time.. I am trying to decide the best plan for us. So here comes the questions: 1. Which is best to do and what is most cost effective? I know its possible to either stay in NY or NJ, and I am open to either. 2.I would like to stay in a nice place for preferably under $150 (fees included) per night.. Is this feasable (sp?).. 3. Also I would like to stay somewhere that is close to public transportation. What would you suggest? 4. Not sure what we will do in the city, may take in a show and go to some museums. (maybe this can give you a better idea of what areas i should pinpoint) My husband knows the city well and how to get around (subway etc) as he works there, but I just want to make sure we are in a good area and hotel. 4. 1 more thing, would you suggest leaving the car at home and taking the local railroads to get to the hotel instead of paying for parking? Possibly would cost between $30-$60 round trip (if that) for 2 people depending on a few factors. I was also considering a stay in Atlantic City for that time but I can start another post for that.. I hope you can help.... Thanks in advance.
  17. I will be driving from PA to FL next week, and I used the PRICELINE link to book a stop over room in the 2* Savannah Inn (port wentworth).. Won the bid for $36 total.. I was hoping we would get a spot with a pool, figuring the kids can tire themselves out in the pool and get to bed early that night, but this 2* doesn't have one. Wanted to know if it is possible to sell it to someone else (what I paid only), even if it means me meeting them there to check in under my name. I would like to try to get a hotel with a pool, but won't try to book anything else if I can't somehow switch it to someone else.. or something...Any advice?
  18. Just wanted to give a quick update. Just got back from a fabulous stay at the Marriotts Fairfield Inn and Sweets in State College. Arrived there on Monday afternoon after my conference was over for the day. Staff was very nice and check in was very quick. Got a King bed room which was perfect, clean, spacious and comfortable. The bed was a temperpedic(sp?) and very comfortable. Facilities were nice, fitness room was convenient and pool and hot tub very nice (small but sufficient). Didn't eat breakfast there any morning, but the delicious smells filled the building from 6:30am and many people went to breakfast so it must be good. Great location close to many stores. Cons: Tuesday when I came in from conference at 5pm, my room hadn't been cleaned yet and they were about 10 rooms from me.. I had to leave the room (I don't like being there when they are cleaning) and go to the store for 2 hrs to make sure they would be done when I got back. But all in all my stay was great. This hotel should have a 3 star rating it was so nice.
  19. Got the perfect place in the 2* range for $39. I am very pleased.. Posted the win here as well.. Thanks for all the advice..
  20. Used your link... 1st bid $35 2* South zone......2nd Bid $39 2, 2.5, and 3* North and South Zone ... Won Marriott's Fairfield Inn and Suites 2215 North Atherton Street State College, Pennsylvania 16803 Your Offer Price Per Room, Per Night: $39.00 Subtotal: $156.00 Taxes & Fees: $23.48 Total Charges*: $179.48 I am excited as Marriott usually has very good properties Has all the amenities I am looking for.... Your links really helped.. Thanks so much
  21. I noticed that there is one person on here who goes to state college and his last few posts said that he bid around $40 in the 2* for South and was given upgrades by Priceline to 3*. That weren't the atherton. I figured I would start around the $39 mark as well. Hampton Inn is nice but have mixed reviews about the room you get when you book through priceline.... Some reviews even said they have a "priceline" room... which is small oddly shaped and has one double bed in it. Not sure if this is at all true... I have never used priceline before and I am very nervous... As you can see :) .. I even considered one of the 1* in the north area.. Both of those seem okay , but they don't have pools... What do you normally start bids at for 1*, 2* and 3* in this area. I would assume that 1* would be a lot less. I don't know what to do
  22. Hi all!! I am new to this board as of today and I am contemplating using Priceline to book a hotel in State college for 8/2-8/6. I already have a hotel room reserved at the Comfort Suites for $79/night but would like to find something for significantly less. I was going to bid on a 3* in South but I am really afraid that I will end up with the Atherton.. ( and their reviews really suck!!) instead of one of the other 2 hotels in that area. My other option is a 2* in North which would be okay, but I am dying to stay at a 3*... What should I do? Is there a method to the madness? :) Thanks in advance!!
