It has been very helpful especially as an international user I just booked on HOTWIRE.com and secured the Sofitel Los Angeles in Beverly Hills for $165! :) I'm very happy, as we saved $330 Australian Dollars on this stay compared with the cheapest rate on the Sofitel website or $245 cheaper than Expedia's rate. Thanks for the advice on this it looks like this might be tricky for 11 nights in NYC. We are also staying in Sanfran 19-20th DEC and Washington DC 21-23rd DEC for 2 nights each as well so perhaps I'll start with these.

Hi just wondering if anyone has tried booking as far in advance as December/Jan 2010/11? We've been looking at 4* hotels in Midtown East area they seem to be in the $230-$250 mark for the cheaper ones on other websites. What bidding strategy should I use for this should I start at $100 or 150 I've noticed other people have been successful with 4* hotels in midtown east in July for $110. Can anyone explain if it will be a problem trying to book 11 consecutive nights on priceline too? Thanks :)
