I figured it out before a reply :) Booked through the HOTWIRE link! Thank you!
Hi Guys
My husband and I are looking to take a quick trip to Chicago from 8/24 - 8/27 (Checking out this date) I'd like something centrally located, as we won't have a car, to shopping, nightlife, and dining. We're looking for a safe area where we can walk easily and catch cabs if necessary.
I'm looking in the Mag-Mile River North looking to spend around 100-120 before taxes. If there is a better area please let me know as well!

Thank you!
I bid and this was the Hotel Sax (I am surprised because they weren't available anywhere near this price just an hour or so before)!
I received it for $137 for the 16th of November, so now i won't have to change hotels.
Thank you Better Bidding - I always have success working with you all.
Allison
Oh my gosh I just logged in and was going to fix my mistake when I saw your post. :)
Yes it's the 16th and I would definitely Prefer to stay at the sax again and am now very surprised to see what looks like the sax at 137.. When I booked this morning I couldn't extend w/o going up over $100 for the night.
I will try that and see what happens.
Hi Again :)
Starting a new thread - I just booked on Hotwire the Sax in Chicago for two nights (11/14 - 11/16 for $121) and decided I wanted to extend it another night, but sadly couldn't get near that price again.
I'm looking to try and get something for 11/17 in the same star range. As I said in my previous post, I'm looking for nightlife/shopping/dining but always like to experience the culture in whatever city I'm visiting as well. I'm not opposed to moving out of the North Michigan - River North area but don't want to go too far out of the range as I don't have a car - and being from Detroit am notoriously bad at navigating public transportation so I will be relying a lot on cabs :D
I'm not opposed to raising my budget to meet my needs - just looking for a good location, with plenty to do!
Thanks
Allison
Yay - you are correct, it was the Sax and I got it for $121 from the 14th to the 16th. I tried to add another night but the price went up almost $100, so I'm looking to add another night in somewhere else.
Checking in on the 16th and out on the 17th I see a 4 star for $163 with: Fitness Center, Restaurant(s), Business Center, High-Speed Internet Access - in the same area. Recommended by 80%
and in the North Water Tower Area I see a 4 star for $149 with Smoke Free Rooms, Fitness Center, Restaurant(s), Business Center, High-Speed Internet Access - recommended by 70%. with a 3.5 out of 5 trip adviser rating. Are there any clues what either of these hotels could be?
Thank you so much again!
Allison
AaronJB - thank you for the reply. I had a very rough week at work so far, and have some time off to book so I'm looking again. I really like the Sax hotel and know that since I've waited the prices that you saw probably aren't out there any longer. Would you be able to look again (I'm sorry because I don't know exactly what you were looking at to "know" which was which) and see if you still "see" what looks like the Sax still out there?
If I'm looking at PRICELINE and attempting to bid - with the $85 I'm looking at the River North/North Michigan area correct? Is this whole area considered "safe"? I always fear ending up in a bad area :)
Thank you again!
Hi Guys
My husband and I are looking to take a quick trip to Chicago from 11/14 - checking out on the 16th (may include 17th based on work schedule). I'd like something centrally located, as we won't have a car, to shopping, nightlife, and dining. We're looking for a safe area where we can walk easily and catch cabs if necessary.
I don't know a lot about what zone(s) to look in, but we're looking for about $100/night before taxes. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Well... here's what I decided to do. I figured my dates were a little bit flexible and since I got a better price last year in August, I tried that again. I changed my dates to 8/7 - 8/13, and I bid $65 in CC/CH and was declined, then added the WH and bid $70. My bid for $70 was accepted at the Four Points by Sheraton!!!!
Thank you for your time and assistance with this!
Allison
Hi Again
I've gone up to $86 in CC and WH and even shortened my stay by one day - checking out on Friday instead of Saturday, and still can't get a bid accepted. Is there something going on this week in DC??? I'm surprised because my bid last year was accepted at 70 - I was sure I'd have to go up a bit, but am really surprised that $16 dollars more isn't getting accepted. Any advice?
Thanks
Yes I have tried the CC zone and I'm at $80. With everything rejected. My main goal is to be close to a metro/within walking distance of the sites. I thought WH might provide me that same experience.
Thanks
Good Morning
I was thinking about expanding my search to the Whitehouse Downtown area. How is this area for Tourists? I've liked the Convention Center area when I've prevously stayed there, but am willing ot look in other areas too.
Thanks
Allison
Thanks for the response.
I know I can't target, but I'd still like to use priceline for a 3* hotel for 7/17 - 7/23 (6 nights) in the Conference Center Capitol Hill Zone - my hope is not to go above 80-ish a night.
Thanks!!!
Hi Everyone!!!
I used this site last year when I went to DC and had great results (posted right after I received)!!! I'm looking for a little help again.
Last year I won on priceline the L'Enfant Plaza for the first week of August for roughly (I can't remember now :) ) $65 a night. I really enjoyed my stay there because of its location to the metro. I'm looking to go back to DC for the week of 7/17 leaving on 7/23, and would like to pay roughly the same price but I expect it to potentially be a bit higher. I know it's hard to target a hotel using PRICELINE, but I'm hoping there are some tips to help me!!!!
Thanks
Allison
Thanks for the advice.
I got 3* - L'Enfant Plaza Hotel in the White House - Dupont Circle Zone for $70 per night from August 1 - August 5, 2010.
I originally bid $55 for 3* in CC/CH zone and was rejected, I changed my dates to 7/31 - August 4 and rebid in the same zone, same star level for $65 and rejected again. So I changed my dates back to 8/1 - 8/5 and added WH/DC zone and bid at $70 and received L'Enfant Plaza.
My goal was to stay at $70 or below so parking wouldn't be such a burden to our budget, so we're very happy with this price, and the WH/DC Zone was our 2nd choice if we couldn't get CC/CH in our budget.
Thank you everyone for making my first Priceline experience go so well, I would have been very confused if I hadn't come here first, and I used your PRICELINE link!
Allison
Hi everyone!
I'm new to bidding on hotels with PRICELINE, but I'm looking for a 3* hotel for August 1-5. My husband and I are going to DC to do the Smithsonian Museums, however neither of us have ever been there. I was thinking that my best bet for being near these museums would be the Convention Center - Capitol Hill area. I was wondering if others thought that this was the best area to bid in. We will be driving to DC however don't really want to drive around once we get there.
Any advice would be much appreciated!
Thank you in advance, and I look forward to being able to post my progress!
Allison :)
