  1. The Arlo SoHo sounds great! I tend to stick to the well known franchises, but this different place and the reviews are great. I will be ready to bid later today, hope the rates are still low. Of course I will bid through these links! 😄 I don't see any Hotwire promo codes posted, although the rates are besting PL by quite a bit. I did see that notice from Allianz Global about cancellations, and it seems that if you buy insurance, you may be eligible for a refund, on a case by case basis. Do you usually recommend buying the travel insurance?
  2. Thanks for your detailed reply! My travel dates are 3/26-3/3029, a 4 night stay. I am definitely looking for a budget trip, but nothing under 3.5*, no more than $150/ nt (under $650 total if possible) and since I have tickets to the Daily Show, so I am looking to stay in the Midtown West or Central Park South area, although NY is pretty easy to navigate if I were to stay closer to Wall STreet, where the rates have been very low. But I just heard that NY declared a state of emergency, and in 2 1/2 weeks I don't know if the show will allow a live audience due to the outbreak. I have other plans though, so still plan to go unless the situation gets dire. I'm hoping to avoid a hotel with resort fees! Is there a way to filter them out before we get to the checkout screen? I hate selecting a hotel for a good price and then find out there's a $40/nt resort fee. Thanks for all your help! 😄
  3. I'm wondering if either PL or Hotwire are offering refunds or honoring cancellations in the wake of the corona virus? Several major events are being cancelled nationwide and I'm sure the hotels are facing major last minute cancellations. I am planning a trip to NYC and was going to use PL or Hotwire to book, but Gov. Cuomo just declared a state emergency for NY, so I'm wondering if I should either wait to book, or book now when prices are low and see if PL or Hotwire will let me either cancel or rebook? I have some time (3/26), so it's not rush, but wonder if anyone had experienced an event being cancelled and the hotel refunded your room? Thanks, travellers!
  4. Thanks for your reply! My apologies, I should add here that my purchase was via PRICELINE EXPRESS and NOT HOTWIRE! I had tried to purchase a similar deal on Hotwire but the website was having problems, so I booked via Priceline Express. Can you please move to the appropriate forum? Thank you! I will retry the Is THis a Good Deal" tool. When I've used it before I get the error message "Can't find data, try again later".
  5. Been looking to get a one night in Milwaukee during Summerfest, a Saturday night, the hardest to get! Checked for a few days (when only one $400 a night hotel was showing) and finally got the Hyatt Regency Milwaukee on Hotwire with these amenities: Free Internet, Smoke-free rooms, Fitness center, Restaurant(s), Business center, Internet access, Golf nearby, Accessible for visually impaired, Accessible for hearing impaired, Accessible path of travel, In-room accessibility, Accessible bathroom, Accessible parking, Roll-in shower Quick question: What does the "Is this a good price" tool do? It never lists any suggested hotels when I click it. This site has been SO helpful for so many trips over the years!! :D
  6. Hey! Need help identifying a 3.5* Miami Beach area PRICELINE EXPRESS with he amenities listed below, for one night, 2/28. Original PRICELINE EXPRESS price is $124, but when I clicked to purchase, it comes up as $118. Thanks for your help! Guaranteed Amenities: Business Center Free Internet Indoor or Outdoor Pool Fitness Center
  7. Hey! Just want to close out this thread. I tried the rebid strategy for a 2.5* hotel in downtown NOLA up to $149 on Sunday but was not successful. I decided to use my Starwood points and booked Le MEridien for my dates. I was hoping to save those points for a cruise I'm taking in February, will need a room for one night, prob in FL, but I will review this page and figure out an awesome bid strategy or hotel from PRICELINE EXPRESS / Hot.wire when the time comes. Thanks for everything and have a MERRY CHRISTMAS!!! :D
  8. I would like to stay within a few miles of the Superdome, so Downtown/Superdome and Warehouse District would be the best options. My maximum for 2.5* would be $162 However, I note that there are no free rebid zones for 2.5* in New Orleans, so worried about how often I'll need to wait to rebid. Thanx! :D
  9. Hey! It's official, booked the flights for my NYE trip to Sugar Bowl! Just did the search again on Bidding.Helper (12/31-1/03) and now the 2.5* hotel is listed at $200. Same two amenities listed: Business Center, Fitness Center I would also like to bid on 2.5* hotels on PL, but not sure which properties would come up. Right now on PL the only qualifying hotel is the Holiday Inn Express, currently at $319/nt, but who knows if this is the PRICELINE EXPRESS hotel. Please advise. thanx!
  10. *S&(@! What an idiot! Can't believe I didn't post dates. I was looking at 12/31-1/03/15. The official games won't be set until after a Saturday playoff game. If I purchase a PL express and buy trip insurance, can I cancel if his team goes to the Citrus Bowl instead? -TravelGirl22 :D
  11. Looking to go to Sugar Bowl (where my cousin MAY be playing his last season)! Just did Bidding.Helper search and found this hotel (copied from page): Downtown New Orleans Rated 7.0 out of 10 (or higher) Business Center Fitness Center Save 32% or more* $ 162 per night Choose Only 2 amenities listed. Can't find a PRICELINE EXPRESS hotel for 2.5* downtown on your list. Any ideas?? Thanx for your help!
  12. Hey! Thanks for your help identifying these hotels. I was looking to get the Four Point Sheraton Memphis East, as it is right across from where my cousins will be staying (Homewood Suites in Memphis East), but since neither of the Hot.wire hotels looked to be this one, and Price.line has too many 3* in the area to be certain, I booked the Four Points using my Starwood points. Recently booked 5* Palazzo Resorts from Hotwire for a November trip, will post those details today as well. Thanks again! -Travelgirl22 ^_^
  13. Hey! Have to say again how helpful this board has been to my travel plans! :D Can you please help me identify these two hotels for travel this weekend? 10/9-10/11 3.5* East Memphis $66/nt Free Internet Free parking Restaurant(s) Business center Indoor pool(s) Golf nearby Airport shuttle Fitness Center 3* East Memphis $56/nt Free Internet Free parking Free breakfast Pet friendly Self Service laundry Fitness center Also, could the EAst Memphis All Suites hotel be the Homewood Suites? I have yet to see that appear here and it's not listed in the Hotwire hotels. Thanx for your help!
  14. Got this hotel just now for a Saturday night stay during very busy Irish Fest this weekend. This seems a bit far to be listed in the downtown range (I've been to the festival several times) but for one (late!) night and an early morning departure it should be fine. Here are the amenities that were listed before I purchased: Free parking, Free breakfast, Free Internet, Airport shuttle, Smoke-free rooms, Fitness center, Business center, Self-service laundry, Internet access, Golf nearby Thanks to this board for all your help!
  15. Went with PRICELINE EXPRESS, snagged Le Westin Montreal for $130/nt with these amenities: Indoor or Outdoor Pool Pets Allowed Restaurant Fitness Center Free Internet Business Center I know the area pretty well and this isn't far from the Jazz Fest. So many events revolve around the Hyatt so it is easier to just go up to my room after their done, but I look forward to trying out this hotel. Thanx much for all your help!
  16. Hey! Trying to get Hyatt for a 4 night stay in Montreal over the Jazz Fest weekend. Can you please ID this hotel I see on Bidding Helper? 3.5*, Old Montreal Convention Center, $124 FULL AMENITIES: Indoor pool(s), Fitness Center, Pool(s), Restaurant(s), Business Center, Self service laundry, Internet access, Accessible for the blind, Accessible for the deaf, Accessible path of travel, In-room accessibility, Accessible bathroom, Handicapped parking, Roll-in shower Maybe I'm confusing Hotwire and PL; if Hotwire lists the Hyatt as a 4* under its "Standard List', will is also be listed as 4* in it's 'Secret List' as well? Hotwire lists Hyatts and Hiltons as possible hotel chains that are 3.5* on the Secret Hotel list. Thanx for your help!
  17. Thanx so much for this reply! Still trying to decide how to proceed. Currently in PL Bidding Express there is a 4* Montreal Conv. Center-Old Montreal-Latin Quatier hotel for $126/nt with the following amenities: Indoor or Outdoor Pool Pets Allowed Restaurant Fitness Center Free Internet Business Center I copied the symbols from the page and they translated to the text above. Can you please help identify? It doesn't seem likely it is the Hyatt, maybe Delta? Thanx again!
  18. Happy Tuesday! I've been to Montreal during the Jazz Festival many times and love it! I'd like to bid on a 3.5* Montreal Hotel in the Convention Center/Latin Quatier area, which I have seen in the past to be the Hyatt Regency, the base for the jazz fest. Today is the first time in a few days I've seen my entire length available at the hotel (usu. the Sat. check in shows the hotel as sold out). Here are the prices for 3.5* hotels in the area: Hyatt - $238 (cancellable) ($217 prepaid) Embassy Suites - $210 (cancellable) Currently in PL, the Hyatt is available at $224/nt, but when I view the Express Purchase hotels, I don't see a 3.5* option in the Convention Center/Latin Quatier area. These are the amenities listed on the PL page for the Hyatt: ✔ Pet Friendly ✔ Indoor Pool Χ Shuttle ✔ Non Smoking ✔ Fitness Center ✔ Handicap ✔ Business Center I note that "Free Internet" is not checked, which definitely narrows down my options in terms of which Express hotel is available. I would like bid up to $120/nt. Should I try to bid now, or wait until the Express purchase might be available? I do understand that I'm not guaranteed the Hyatt Regency, I've bid on PL and bought on Hotwire for 10+ years, but I'm reviewing the odds and hope to come up with this hotel. Thanx for all you help!!
  19. Hey! Back from my trip. I wound up keeping the Hyatt reservation, at the $199 rate. Our room was by the marina, not in the high rise, which would have cost extra for an upgrade. I agree that the marina rooms could use a furniture makeover, but the pool is beautiful. It is also quite a long walk from the lobby to the room down a long narrow outside walkway. Also agree that the hotel is a bit remote. It's right on the water but a long walk over a bridge to get to any shops or stores. Fine if you're driving but a pain if you just want a shower cap from Walgreens. This worked out well for my ourpose, a hotel close to Port Everglades. Hotel has a great shuttle service to the ports, $7, 10 mins. and you can reserve a seat in advance, very organized. I'd stay here again for one nt, but at a better rate, and for a beach vacation I'd want something with more activity around or right on the beach. Plan to cruise again, thanx for all your help!
  20. BuzzyB: I'll be at this hotel tomorrow for one night, will try to post quick review when I return! Never had a bad experience at a Hyatt, so fingers crossed the trend continues. If you checked PRICELINE EXPRESS prices before your bid, do you recall how much PL listed for the 4* FLL Beach area?
  21. Hey! Thanks for your reply. Currently, on Priceline.Express, there is a 4* beach hotel for $186 with these amenities: Outdoor swimming pool pets allowed restaurant business center, fitness center Any idea what this might be? Once the taxes and fees are factored in, the total cost is $217, just shy of my current reservation at the Hyatt ($220 with tax). I'm not sure a bid would bring this down enough to try and alter my current reservation (I think I could change the date to next week, then cancel on Sat. without penalty, unless hotels have caught on to that?). Thanks for all your help! :D
  22. Glad you're back online! Love the new look! Right now, I made a reservation at the Hyatt Pier 66, $199/nt, since it's close to the piers. Looks like the 3.5* Crowne Plaza is down to $239/nt, but not sure if I would snag it for under $200 during a PL bid. The Hyatt has a 72 hr cancellation policy, so I would have to cancel TODAY, I think, to avoid penalty. Looks like the 4* beach and downtown have gone down a bit, do you think I'd be able to get a room under $200 using the same strategy as earlier? Hotwire has one 4* beach for $204 as well. Hate to mention other websites, but Last Minute Travel has a 3.5* beach hotel for $162, but I've seen several negative reviews for this website, so I'm inclined to avoid. Thanks SO much for your help!
  23. Last night I unsuccessfully bid for 3.5* downtown, up to $155. This afternoon I repeated the bids for 4* downtown and 4* beach, up to $160 with no luck. I was going to bid for the combined downtown/beach zones next. If I decide to bid 3* for either of these zones, is $150 or 160 likely?
  24. Thanx so much for your help! Last night (midnightish) I bid for 3.5* downtown with no luck. This morning I followed your bidding strategy for 4* downtown, 4* beach (up to $130) and 4* beach and downtown, up to $155 with no luck. Got worried, at first I only counted 4 rebids, almost forgot FLL North. I have reserved a cancellable backup at a Holiday Inn ($209+ tax). I will keep checking prices and rebid tomorrow or Sat. I know the sat. checkin is throwing it off. In doing the math, I note that HI does have a free shuttle from airport and a shuttle to the ship port (not sure how much), wonder if it would be better to keep HI reservation? Just thinking out loud...
  25. I'm ready to bid again for 3.5* or 4* downtown, bid limit $155. Please let me know your thoughts on how to bid or whether I should wait. My next straregy is bidding 4* in the FLL beach zone, more rebids, $155 limit. Thanx for your help!
