Thanks. It ended up being the Hampton Inn Tropicana :D (shows up as 0.6 - 4.5 mi from city center when searching in Las Vegas, NV) with 95% Hotwire customer reviews which is very encouraging. We are disapponted that 4* and higher hotels are in the $100+ range since we would have liked to have stayed in a hotel cum casino but this will do for now.
Used the HOTWIRE QUICKQUOTE and found a 3* hotel Near the Strip-West for $57 a night for each room. We are looking to stay for 2 nights and like the free breakfast option and NO Resort Fees. Our stay was pleasant..However, some points to remember.. 1. Hotel does not have an elevator so you'll have to carry up your luggage. 2. Carpets did smell - not bad but you knew it. 3. Bathroom was outdated as well. 4. You'll have to pay for your breakfast. 5. Hotel does have a fridge and microwave - which is a plus. I don't think this courtyard fits the bill for a 3 star and given the comfort and amenities, I would not have bid to begin with.
