  1. What a dumb bunny - I should have put in that it is July 26-28 that I am looking at. Sorry
  2. We are looking for two rooms in Milwaukee for 2 nights Sat 26th, Sun 27th somewhere close to Millar Park as we are going to a ball game there on Sun 27th. Hotwire Hot Rate is offering a 3.5 * place for $85 US in the Milwaukee West area. It lists the following ammenities Free Parking Free Internet Indoor pool(s) Smoke Free Rooms Fitness Center Pool(s) Restaurant(s) Business Center It is also showing a trip advisor rating of 4.0 and a Hotwire Rating of 90%. Thanks
  3. This came up as a 3* in the Hyde Park area and it was much cheaper than anything else around the downtown Chicago area. It was correctly guessed by Thereyouare and I have booked it. It looks ok from the website but seems to be a bit run down from the Trip advisor comments. I will let folks know what it turned out to be like once we have stayed. Thanks for your help
  4. It will be a two night stay and the Priceline.express hotel is showing up at $72US. The HOTWIRE property is $90 US already so making it even less attractive. thanks
  5. Ok, here is what I found that appears to be downtown and close to US Cellular Field. Priceline Express Deals. 3 Star Hotel in Hyde Park Area for C$79/night Amenities: Free Internet in room Outdoor Swimming Pool Free Parking Restaurant Business Center Fitness Center Hotwire Easy View 2.5* South Chicago - Hyde Park $90 FULL AMENITIES: Free Parking, Free Internet, Pet friendly, Fitness Center, Pool(s), Restaurant(s), Business Center, Self service laundry, Internet access I think the priceline deal looks very good so await your thoughts. thanks
  6. I like that idea of picking up the car on the day we are heading out and thus saving the hassle of parking downtown. I have not made any rental car bookings yet so will now focus on staying downtown near the ball fields (or within a short L train ride). Thanks for you help, will be back I'm sure shortly with some queries about downtown hotels. cheers
  7. Thanks for the quick replies - we are on a baseball trip and will be going to see the White Sox at the front end of the trip and coming back at the end of the trip to see the cubs. We are flying into Midway and plan to rent a car as we will be going to Milwakee and Minnisota after Chicago. I was looking in the Midway area to try and avoid hefty parking fees at the downtown places. I generally try to avoid 4* as I have had too many unpleasant surprises when they charge you for parking, internet, telephone calls etc, etc. I generally try to get a 2.5-3.5 * place for under $100/night that includes parking and internet. That said, if there was something special downtown available in that range, I could live with the parking charge. Thanks again, love this board.
  8. I am looking to book 2 rooms in Chicago 22,23 Jul either near the downtown or Midway Airport and have found the following places HOTWIRE EASY VIEW Magnificent Mile Area - River North 2* $64US FULL AMENITIES: Free Parking, Free Internet, Pet friendly, Restaurant(s), Internet access Midway Airport MDW - Oak Lawn - Alsip 2.5 ** $93 US FULL AMENITIES: Free Parking, Free Breakfast, Free Internet, Indoor pool(s), Fitness Center, Business Center, Self service laundry, Internet access, Accessible path of travel, In-room accessibility, Wheelchair accessible, Accessible bathroom PRICELINE EXPRESS 2½ Star Hotel in Midway Airport Area (MDW) for C$96/night Free Breakfast Free Internet in room Indoor Swimming Pool Free Parking Business Center Fitness Center Rated 7.0 out of 10 Thoughts on these places would be appreciated thanks
  9. Ok, spent two nights at the Marriott Marquis in downtown Atlanta and it was a good deal for the $60 PRICELINE bid that was accepted. As per the norm for a 4*, parking was $20/day, internet was $15/ day and there was no breakfast. The room was very nice and had a coffee maker but for the most part we got coffee at the Starbucks in the lobby. The hotel turned out to be perfect for us as we had no car, were able to use the free WIFI in the lobby and were about to walk 5 minutes to the local Marta station to get to Turner Field for the game on the Braves Shuttle. The hotel was gearing up to be the media hotel for the NCAA championship that weekend and we were glad to get out of there before all that madness ensued. We were told that the rooms there were going for $700/night that weekend so we feel we got a super deal. We were pleased with the hotel for the price we paid and able to work around the 4* add-on pricing PITA problem so all is good.
  10. Ok just back from Miami and we spent two nights at the Red Roof Inn out by the airport which we got through PRICELINE EXPRESS. The amenities listed were 2 star Hotel in Miami Intl Airport MIA Amenities: Free Parking Free Breakfast Free Internet Airport Shuttle Pool(s) In-room accessibility This hotel meets the bare minimums across the board. It was clean and close to the airport but the walls are paper thin and you can hear everything going on out in the hall. It is somewhat isolated and hard to get to off the highway and there is only a run down Bennigans next door for restaurant meals. The breakfast was very minimal continental but was free as was the parking and internet. The pool was very nice and clean but you are treated to very loud airplanes flying overhead about 5 mins apart. There is a room safe available at $1.50/day and a business computer and printer in the lobby but you have to pay for time on the PC and for printing. All in all we were satisfied with the place for the price but it is the baseline for 2* acceptability.
  11. Well, just got back from our trip and the Country Inn And Suites was a great find. It is right on Hwy 19, and the hotel staff were very friendly. We ended up with one of the rooms being a suite with fridge, microwave and a sitting area which was very nice. The hotel is very clean and well appointed and we were very pleased with the free breakfast which was continental +++. It included waffles, biscuits, sausage and gravy, cereal, oatmeal, toast, muffins, juice, coffee, tea and fresh fruit. They also bake chocolate chip cookies at the front desk and hand them out to the clientele which was a nice touch. Free internet and free parking was good and the pool looked nice and clean. We would stay here again in a heartbeat and are very pleased with our PRICELINE EXPRESS win.
  12. Ok, went throught the link to PRICELINE Express deals and took the following hotel for $66. 2 star Hotel in Miami Intl Airport MIA Amenities: Free Parking Free Breakfast Free Internet Airport Shuttle Pool(s) In-room accessibility This turned out to be the Red Roof Inn as predicted so thank you for that and it seems I got a better deal through Priceline then when I found this on Hotwire originally for $74. Trip advisor reviews are pretty mixed so not sure what shape this place is in - will let you know after we stay there. thanks again for your help :)
  13. Just returned from my trip and I had to get on the board and let folks know what a great spot the Rodeway Inn and Suites Airport/Cruise Ft Lauderdale is. From the first free shuttle pickup at the airport to the entertaining well organized 110 people shuttle loading for the cruise port to the blue finger free cruise port pickup and the final free shuttle to the airport, this place was perfect for anyone considering a Ft Lauderdale cruise. The manager is very efficient and the place while an older hotel is clean and well maintained. The pool was nice, the onsite restaurant is cheap and has a reasonable selection (good thing as the next closest place is a 1/2 mile down the highway). The free breakfast was your typical waffles, cereal, toast, muffins, bagels, boiled eggs, juice, coffee tea etc but the staff kept it well stocked and you can't beat the price. The manager gave everyone a running commentary on the do's and dont's of the various cruise lines as we waited for a shuttle and he also has everything available in his store if you forgot suntan lotion, etc, etc. As you can see from this thread, I got the rooms for different prices on PRICELINE EXPRESS but this place was definitely full value for the money and I would stay here again in a heartbeat. The hotel also offers cheap long term parking for your car while you are on a cruise and also will take you directly from the cruise port to the airport for $10/person (vice $15/person that the cruise ship was offering). Anyways the 4 of us were very pleased with our win and hope this is of value to other folks looking in the area cheers
  14. Thanks am looking forward to getting down to the place and will post a review from there. cheers Brent
  15. Ok took your advice and went PRICELINE Auction and got a 4* in downtown Atlanta for a $60 bid. It turned out to be the Marriott Atlanta Marquis, 265 Peachtree Center Avenue, Atlanta, GA 30303. It looks like a nice place though typical of 4*s they want to nickle and dime you for Internet, etc. I think we are close to public transit here to allow us to get down to Turner Field no problem. cheers
  16. Just accepted the PRICELINE EXPRESS Hotel Deal for two rooms in a 2.5* hotel in St Petersburg for April 7th. It turned out to be the Country Inn & Suites By Carlson, Pinellas Park, Fl 2½ star and I got it for $66 minus a 5% coupon. I just went back to PRICELINE to get the amenities but that hotel is no longer available but you can see what the hotel offers on its website. I am a happy camper.
  17. Thanks will check these out and will report back if I use one or the other. cheers

  21. Having booked a Priceline Express deal for a 2 1/2 star hotel for Feb 14th that was as suggested by the board, the Rodeway Inn and Suites, I then went back online to check the PRICELINE EXPRESS Options for our return on 25 Feb. Found the same hotel offer for $58 and took it also - again it was the Rodeway Inn and now I am even more pleased with the find. Thanks for your help, will let you know how the place turned out after we have been there but it looks good from the Trip Advisor Comments and perfectly suited for our pre and post-cruise requirements.
