  1. Thanks for your comments. Dates are firm and I realize the bid is low. Trying to factor in the taxes and hotel fees to come up with a total price below $200 (but willing to adjust) per night. Looking for the higher end hotels in hopes to minimize some of the Spring Break Madness. Will also look at expanding the search area as Ft Lauderdale Beach is just a starting point. Will post any update/results and will definitely use the PRICELINE linkS.
  2. Looking to book a 4.5* hotel in Ft Lauderdale Beach for March 21-23, 2019 Looking to nab the Atlantic Hotel & Spa or The W. Initial bid of $131 rejected. Not sure how much I'm willing to pay but given we're 5 months out I've got time to adjust.
  3. Thanks for this. I too was looking at the same Priceline Express deal (different dates) and was confused because Priceline Express Hotel list only has the W as a 4.5* but it's clear that the priceline express offer was not for that hotel. Looks like a decent property. Love this site.
  4. Just circling back. I was at this property the weekend of March 9th and have to say I was pleasantly surprised. It was a quality property. I think IMHO the biggest reason for reviews not favouring this lacation is due to the fact they are expecting a W or a JW Marriott and that is not what this is. It's more of a Boutique hotel which was wonderful.
  5. After bidding in Brickell, Mid-Miami Beach I added Port of Miami expecting the Kimpton Epic or JW Marriott might be the hotels. After starting with $202 in Bickell I added Port of Miami and upped my bid to $213 and won ME Miami. Total for 2 nights is $538 which includes hotel fee of $33 and Taxes of $79 Used the PRICELINE link. Thanks for everyones help.
  6. After bidding a few areas on Priceline (Brickel, Port of Miami, Mid-Miami Beach) I got the ME Port of Miami for $212. Tripadvisor reviews are mixed however it seems like a decent deal. Hopefully my trip advisor review is good. Will post under Priceline Winning bids. Thanks for your help.
  7. Thank you for the kind offer. I think I am good but..... here is my bidding strategy. I have my primary area and based on the hotel list for Priceline have picked a secondary area. I've started with a bid of $196 for a 5* in the Brickel area which was rejected. I then added Mid-Miami Beach and bid $201 (which has also been rejected). I have gone back twice and bid $206, $211, $216 and $221 with no success. I will continue and probably go a high as $231 (which by the time you add the taxes/fee is about $265) and then add/change locations. I don't need the hotel for 2 mths so have some time to play. Ideally would like the W or the JW Marriott in Miami but am open to other high quality hotels. Again, great forum! Thanks for the help.
  8. Probaby $250ish but may go higher. Think I'll try a few Priceline bids and cross my fingers
  9. Thanks for your help. I was going to book the hotel through PRICELINE like you suggested however I noticed fees/taxes of about $65 per day (which I assume are fairly avg for these hotels). I will keep looking and use the hotwire tool you mention. Great Forum!!!
  10. Looking to travel on 3/09/18-3/11/18 and HOTWIRE is listing two properties. The first property is: $265 per night (45% off full rate of $484) Amenities Business center Fitness center Internet access Kitchenette Pet friendly Pool(s) Resort Restaurant(s) Smoke-free rooms Hotwire states the last person got the W Bickell. Based on the description I think this is in fact the W and the amenities don't quite match any of the other hotels listed for hotwire The second property is: $229 per night (full rate is $300) Amenities Business center Children's activities Fitness center Golf nearby Internet access Pool(s) Restaurant(s) Smoke-free rooms Spa services This seems to be either the Mandarin or Four Seasons however none of those list Golf Nearby. Any confirmation that the first property is the W as well as thoughts on what the second property would be will be appreciated. Thanks!
  11. I've been bidding for a hotel for the past few weeks always staying between $150 and $175. This is high for downtown Montreal but the booking is during the Montreal Grand Prix weekend where most hotels are either sold out or priced very high. I'm extremely pleased with $175 as the lowest published rate for the Sheraton is $399. Thanks again to Better Bidding. Another Great Win!
  12. Great win! My brother has stayed at that resort and really liked it. I've been bidding on Ventana Canyon and Oro Valley for a couple of weeks (looking to stay in mid-March). I think I might be too far out at the moment as I haven't had any success even thought I've gone up to $95. Think it might be a good idea to wait and start bidding again in Mid-February.
  13. Been bidding on Halifax for a few weeks now. Always downtown and 4 star. Getting close to travel date so I upped my bid from $60-$69 and it was accepted. Got the Westin. Stayed there before. Nice (but older) hotel in a decent area. Would have preferred the Marriot but I won't complain.
  14. I've been slowly bidding on a 4* hotel in downtown Halifax for the past couple weeks with bids ranging from $55-62 and finally won with a bid of $58. This may be due to the $5 top up offer I got last night. I had hoped for the Marriott but am OK with the Westin. I used the PRICELINE link on the website. Thanks again. Second win this year using this site : )
  15. Nice win. I've stayed at the Westin and the Marriott and I definitely prefer the Marriott. I am looking for something in February and would gladly pay $67 if I could get the Marriott. Enjoy your trip.
  16. After reviewing the forum I decided to go for one of the two 3.5 * hotels in the Syracuse University area. I called both before bidding to confirm they have free parking (they do). First bid of $55 won at the Crowne Plaza Syracuse University 701 East Genesee Street, Syracuse, NY 13210 Thanks again to all the great tips/advice on this board.
  17. I got the Hilton Airport on a $55 priceline bid. My cruise in mid-march so perhaps that makes a difference. I looked at the beach area as well and decided that $55 lets me spend a lot on taxis...
  18. Will use the PRICELINE link in the future... and I've always been pleased with the hotels I've gotten based on the guidance this website provides. :)
  19. Looking for one night prior to taking a cruise. Originally looked in the beach area but two bids on 4* of $80-90 were rejected. Based on others experience tried 3.5* in the FLL area and won the Hilton on Griffin Road using the first bid of $55. My original bids started out using the PRICELINE link on the site, the winning bid was from one of pricelines "you didn't win" e-mails. For future reference should I always come back here to start my bid process?
  20. Just a quick update (not sure this is the place for it however). Just back from Montreal and while I was still happy with the hotel and location, I'm not sure I'd consider it a 4* compared to the other 4* hotels in the Montreal area. It did have a nice indoor/outdoor pool area which is rare in Montreal, but the overall condition of the hotel was a little worn IMHO.
  21. I've been bidding on the Loews for a week or two now and have slowly raised my bid to $115. Once I exceeded $110 it countered with $130 but I noticed that a couple people did get this for $115. It took 3 separate bids at $115 to get it.
  22. That's an excellent price for Quebec City. I'm booked there now (haven't had any luck with bidding yet) for $150 a night next weekend.
  23. Just got two rooms at the Hyatt on August 1st for $92 a night. I started at $84 and have held at $92 for the past 3 bids and finally won. Great hotel and great location. I used the PRICELINE links from this site. Thanks!
  24. Just bid and won the Marriott Halifax Harbourfront (sorry the name in the header is screwed up) for $88 a night. Started with a bid of $72 which was rejected (thought I would win the Westin with that bid) and got a chance to increase my bid to $88 which was accepted.
