Just tried this with no luck
4* Rittenhouse Business District - 85, denied
added Museum District, 95, denied
added Trevose/Bensalem, 106, denied
added University area, 111 accepted.
So, I got 4* Le Meridien Philadelphia for 111 a night, March 10-March 11. Not exactly what I wanted, but the price was right.
Okay. I am willing to accept any 4 star hotel in the Rittenhouse Square - Business District
Unfortunately was not able to get anything within my price range, so I didn't book a hotel. Thanks for all the help!
Done! Posted in the RI thread, but wasn't able to get a hotel in my price range so didn't go. On to Phily!
Yes, it appears you have your re-bidding correct... but always double check the zones just before bidding to make sure that nothing has changed since you last checked.
Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.
Good luck and keep us updated on your progress.
Unfortunately, I was not able to get a hotel within this range and didn't make a trip. Thanks for all your help!
Hi, I am trying to get one night at the Palomar. I prefer it, but would take the Sofitel or Hyatt as well and need help with a bidding strategy.
Here are the details:
Stars: 4
Location: Downtown
City: Philadelphia
Dates: March 10th - 11th (one night)
Budget: up to $120, but would prefer lower if possible
Thanks!
Okay, here we go:
Goat Island - Newport & Newport Beach 3.5 star
Middletown 3 star
South Kingston 3 star
So, would my strategy be to first bid what I want:
Goat Island, 3.5 stars
then increase bid and add Middletown (but leave stars alone)
increase bid again and add S. Kingston (but leave stars alone)
?
Hi Becky,
By "they" I meant PRICELINE. When I looked a few days ago, the Newport Beach Hotel and Suites was only 3 stars, but today I see it is 3.5 stars. Weird. Thanks!
I just wanted to point out to people who may not be familiar with the Newport area, that the Newport Beach Hotel and Suites is now being awarded as a 3.5 star hotel in the Goat Island - Newport and Newport Beach area. Previously I had only ever seen the Marriott, the Viking and the Hyatt in this star / area combination. The location of the Newport Beach Hotel and Suites is not convenient if you are looking for a hotel in walking distance to all of the shops and restaurants in Newport. Also, the quality of this hotel is far below the other three hotels. Because of this addition we decided not to bid on Priceline this year for fear of "winning" this hotel. We ended up booking the Hyatt directly on their site. They are running a stay 3 nights, get the 3rd night free promotion so our room rate (before taxes, etc.) ends up being approx. $275 / night.
Hi Becky,
That hotel is coming up in the Middletown area when I look -- not Goat Island. They only show three hotels with 3.5 stars on Goat Island -- the others you mentioned...
I think I get it -- is it just that I need to bid with combinations that have no results except for the one I really want?
Can someone help me with a re-bidding strategy to get a 3.5 star hotel in downtown newport? I read about how to do it, but am not totally confident...
Thanks for the advice Becky! I will keep it in mind and keep my fingers crossed!
I really didn't want to spend more than $200, but it doesn't seem likely if I want to stay in downtown Newport.
marriot, 359. viking is 402 and hyatt is 476.
I've tried a few bids ranging from 130 to 199 and nothing at this point. Did 3.5 stars on Goat Island. Any ideas?
I was thinking $130??
I'm looking to go to Newport for July 4th weekend. Poking around, normal rates are around $350 a night at the 3.5 star hotels. Was thinking of starting a bid at $100. But for 4th of July weekend, is it very tough to get a good deal?
YAY!
Submitted/won bid for $43.00 a night for 7/21! Praying that I don't get the annex...

Help w/getting La Concha in Nov 2013
in Priceline Hotels - Puerto Rico and other Caribbean Islands
Posted
Hi,
I've used your bidding strategies before but never this far in advance (always on PRICELINE). I am trying to get La Concha from Nov 22 - Nov 25 for my birthday. The rate on their website is currently 199 a night, 179 with the AAA discount.
I am not sure where to start with this one. Ideally, I'd want to get it for $125 a night. Also, I'd be open to the Intercontinental but I definitely want to stay in the main San Juan area.
Can you advise please?
Thanks,
Jennifer
