1. Hello, I need a rental car second week in September, Newark Airport. Prices are high now on all the standard sites, and my bids are rejected (using BetterBidding PRICELINE link). How far in advance is the optimal time to bid for a rental car? Recent wins for a mid-size car in Newark are in the low $20's, but when I bid now $27 is rejected and I am prompted to bid $48-$50. Thank you.
2. Yes, I used the BetterBidding Hotwire link (always!). Here are the amenities listed. Free Internet Boutique hotel Fitness Center Internet access
3. Trip Advisor has this hotel listed as #90 out of 1063, so I am looking forward to it. It seems like every four star and above is over $200 per night at this time, so I am happy with this deal. Sat, Jun 27, 2015 - Wed, Jul 01, 2015 Rate per night $198.00 Nights 4 Rooms ( 2 adults ) 1 Subtotal $792.00 Tax recovery charges + fees $203.79 Hotwire total $995.79
4. Second half of stay in London. Got same hotel for $14 night less. Used BetterBidding HOTWIRE link.
5. Actually booked this hotel again for dates of 5/5-5/8. This time price was $172 per night. Used Better Bidding HOTWIRE links both times. Will be visiting Cotswolds area for the two intervening nights. Does anyone have any hotel recommendations for the Cotswolds?
6. Amenities Free Internet, Smoke Free Rooms, Fitness Center, Restaurant(s), Business Center, Internet access
7. Usually use Price.line, but traveling with wife and daugher this trip, so needed room for 3. Been looking at pricing for 6 weeks now, and prices have been going up, so decided to book today. A lot of money, but sounds like a very nice hotel. Rooms 1 Room (4 nights) $186.00 Subtotal Tax recovery charges & fees Total price $744.00 $184.92 $928.92 Total trip price $928.92

10. Vanpoodle, Yes, it is the Marriott Maida Vale, so will look up this pizza place. Thanks! And also will check out the London Walks and Dennis Severs House (I have not heard of this one). Really appreciate it!
11. Peacenik, We will be staying at this Doubletree for two nights using Hilton points at the start of our trip in two weeks. Will let you know, but I think this is a great place to stay. Based on my bidding and the prices they want for rooms, I think $93 is a steal! If you can not get anything good Paris, our favorite hotel is the Hotel du Pantheon. They sometimes have good deals on their website. Good location, very clean, remodeled hotel.
12. Peacenik, Thank you so much for the note. I was concerned about breakfast when I saw the rates for the hotel, so we will definitely try the Illy Patiserre. BTW, I don't know if I am reading too much into your name, but I go back to the sixties for my college days and can relate well to it. We will now be staying two nights in Westminster (using points from Hilton), two nights in Kensington (Priceline), three in Bloomsbury (Priceline), and one in Maida (Marriott points). A reasonable cost for what I think will be a great 8 days. Also, used BetterBidding links for all bids.
13. Been trying for weeks. Several weeks ago got Holiday Inn Bloomsbury for three nights later this trip for $125/night, and should have tried to extend stay, but was hoping to get better hotel later on. As it turned out, for several weeks I bid up to $155 for 4* in Bloomsbury, Westminster, The City and Mayfair with no luck. Even tried 3* in the same zones up to $125 with no luck. Finally out of desperation opened up the Kensington zone, although I had been told it is too far out of the way. Started at $110 for 4* and got counter offer of $141. Needless to say, I rejected it, and continued bidding at $5 increments. Got this hotel after adding Bloomsbury, Westminster and the City zones. Hopefully will be okay. TripAdvisor reviews are pretty good for this site. Total $309.64 for two nights after fees.
14. Started 4* Mayfair/Westminster/Bloomsbury using free rebid zones at $105. Got this hotel after adding Bloomsbury to listing. Had gone to $130 for Mayfair/Westminster with no results. Holiday Inn Bloomsbury Coram Street, London, United Kingdom | 44-871-9429222 Check-In: Fri, Dec 7, 2012 / After 02:00 PM Check-Out: Mon, Dec 10, 2012 / 12:00 PM Rooms: 1 room Summary of Charges Offer Price: avg. per room, per night US$125.00 Rooms: 1 Nights: 3 Room Subtotal: US$375.00 Taxes & Fees: US$86.10 Total Charged to Card: US$461.10
15. I just completed the first two days of our trip. I added Irvine-Costa to my allowable destinations, and started bidding at $50 for 3.5* Irvine, added Costa Mesa at $53, and then Disney North and South, and then the free rebid zones. AT $73, accepted by Crowne Plaza Irvine. Once again, not happy with a $15 parking fee. Mixed reviews on TripAdvisor, but oh well, I really worked for the hotels for this trip with a lot of different bids and bidding strategies. Thanks for your help!
16. Well, I took your advice, and after bidding as high as $85 per night for the full 4 nights with no success, I split off the last two days and bid them separately. I started at $50, at $70 got a counteroffer of $92, and got accepted at $80 per night for the Red Lion in Anaheim. Good price, sorry to see the $14 parking charge at the Red Lion though. For the first two nights i won a hotel on priceline and got the Crowne Plaza Irvine.
17. Hi, I have been bidding over the last two weeks for a 3.5* in Orange County, Disneyland-Anaheim South-Orange-Garden Grove with no luck for the dates of 7/20/12-7/24/12. I started at $46, and using free bid zones in $1 increments gone up to $71. I really do not have a top $ limit in mind, just want to get the best deal possible. Should I consider splitting the two weekend nights of Friday and Saturday off from the Sunday and Monday nights? Is one group of nights more likely to be open than the other? Thanks for any help.
18. Bid accepted at $62 per night for 2.5* Best Western Naples Plaza Hotel, 4/1/12-4/4/12, three nights. Bid thru BetterBidding PRICELINE link. Started earlier this week at $40 night, increasing by $2-3 each day. At $58 a night got a counteroffer for $71, so I knew I was getting closer. The direct price for this hotel from their website is $80.10 per night, so I saved about $18 a night. Not great, but better than paying full price. Taxes and fees add $30.66 to the bid total for 3 nights, so the all-in price is $72.22 per night.
19. The best rate I have found is $80.10 per night at the Best Western Naples Plaza on I-75. I presume that this does not include taxes and fees that may also be charged.
20. Thanks for your response. I really do not have a budget, just want to get lodging at the best price possible. I had seen lower bids for these properties accepted on the board, so was wondering if there was some reason my bids were not accepted. I will contine bidding each day adding several dollars each. Do you have an idea of what price point you think I will be successful at? And will bid thru the BetterBidding PRICELINE link.
21. Have bid from $45 to $65 for a 3* in Naples Central and I-75, and from $40 to $51 for a 2.5* over the last several days. Is it too early to be bidding for the first week in April, or will it just be more expensive than I had hoped?
22. Starting bid at $52 for 3* LAX. Rejected, and rebid adding $3 per bid and adding other Los Angeles areas that were acceptable for me. Accepted $63 bid at the 4* Westin. Happy with this result. Earlier had tried for my favorite locations, Manhattan Beach and Marina Del Rey, bidding from $52 to $67, adding other areas like Hollywood, Westwood, etc along the way for a 3* but all rejected. Then started over using LAX as the first bid.
23. Bid thru Better Bidding PRICELINE link. First bid accepted.
