Read the winning bid of $17/day for mid-size so bid that (gosh, could have tried less! duh). Bid was accepted with option of upgrade to full-size car for $4/day more. Driving over the mountains/long distance, so accepted that. June 22-25 $21/day for Full-Size 84 - rental 50.03 - taxes and fees TOTAL: $134.03 US$ Seems good to me!

Started with $75 bid in Civic Center and USW, turned down. 24 hours later, tried $85. Bid was turned down but there was a message that they'd let me try again if I bid $22 more (for bid of $107.) I just figured that nearing Christmas on a Friday night was perhaps prime time, so bid that and was accepted. Am hopeful of a merry trip. With taxes, one night room was $130.51. Still seems a good price.

Priceline just turned down my $40 bid for 4* downtown St Louis hotel for 5/31-6/2 - so I included Forest Park (which I don't think has 4* hotels listed) and (being short of time) jumped bit to $55 and it was accepted. Still seems a very good deal. Will save money taking muni to Union Station instead of needing to take cab - research I did indicated most people happy with this hotel. I was aiming for this hotel, glad to have won it.
