  1. Also just booked another couple rooms in Al Bashra Dubai for $82)

However, with this one I am greatly disappointed as Hotwire is false advertising...A 5 star hotel was advertised, but the Holiday Inn is a 4 star hotel. Even on Hotwire's own "Standard Rate" properties, the hotel is listed as a 4 star. I contacted Hotwire and they weren't able to do anything. Does anyone here have any experience with something like this?

    Listed Amenities:

    Business center

    Children's activities

    Fitness center

    Free Internet

    Free parking

    Pool(s)

    Restaurant(s)

    Spa services

  2. No worries, my preference would be to stay at a beachfront property and possibly on Jumeirah, but my budget is around the $70 USD mark per room (need 2 rooms), or I'd be happy to go $140 assuming its a suite which would have at least 3 beds (some of the hotel properties on Jumeirah island seem to have this), but I understand its impossible to tell on PRICELINE, which is why I was leaning towards that 5 star hotel on Jumeirah Beach for $71 per night, but want to try to guess what it would be before hand so I know what to expect.

  3. So never been to Dubai so definitely need help figuring out the best place to stay. Unfortunately it wasn't until after I booked the flight that I realized that the weather there becomes unbearable during the time period I'm going.

I hope to do anything and everything I can. Go to beaches, malls, visit the Burj Khalifa, camel dessert safari, etc. so not sure where I should be staying.

I was looking at PRICELINE and noted the following options:

A standard rate hotel: Grand Excelsior in Sharjah for $34/night - PRICELINE doesn't indicate this, but other websites indicate that a 10% city tax and another 10% tax are not included in the price...is there anyway to know for sure?

    Under Express Deals:

    1) 5* Jumeirah Beach - Dubai Marina Area Hotel - Rated 8 or higher - $71 USD /night

    Indoor or Outdoor Pool

    Restaurant

    Fitness Center

    Free Parking

    Free Internet

    Business Center

    2) Al Barsha - Mall of Emirates - Rated 8 or higher - $60 USD /night

    Indoor or Outdoor Pool

    Restaurant

    Fitness Center

    Free Parking

    Free Internet

    Business Center

Ideally, I know I'd love a hotel on Palm Jumeriah Island, but looks like that would be out of our budget - Best 5 star deal for that I could find was $149 USD on HOTWIRE:

Free parking, Free Internet, Beachfront hotel, Fitness center, Pool(s), Restaurant(s), Business center, Internet access, Tennis nearby, Spa services, Wheelchair accessible

Is the hotwire on Palm Island most likely the Le Meridian? If so I can get a better/same deal on that through Expedia at the moment...

Also, did Priceline stop doing bonus cash/Coupons? Haven't seen them offer one in ages!

  4. I think we're going to wait on this one for a bit as options are very tough at the moment. There was an option to arrive at 8am in NYC on a later flight from DEL at the same price, and now just regretting not carefully planning out the connecting flight. If I change it now, its $350 per person haha. Hopefully rates fall as we have plenty of time till we arrive.

I'll post a separate thread for the Dubai leg of my trip, hopefully I can get help there :)

  5. Hey guys,

Used the BiddingHelper.com.com sister site to get the following info:

FULL AMENITIES: Free Internet, Fitness center, Business center, Self-service laundry, Internet access

Listed as $78.00 USD checking in for 1 night on Sept 9.

Travelling with my family from a Long Haul flight from New Delhi India to Toronto Canada, however the flight lands at JFK at 8:45pm, but the flight from JFK to Toronto I have an option to either take the 6:55am flight the next morning or the 10:30am flight. So I can either "chill at the airport" over night, or get a room. I was leaning towards a room, but is there anything to do at JFK where we wouldn't need a room and can just catch the 6:55am flight? Considering it'll take about 1-1.5 hrs to leave JFK, another 30 mins to possibly get to and check in at the hotel, 30 mins to check out and leave, and at least 2 hours to check in at the airport again....that's already about 4-5 hrs or half the time between flights if we go for the 6:55am flight. (The long haul portion from DEL to JFK is already booked)

Also thinking of avoiding the hotel as I heard airport hotels are sketchy unless you really want to pay for them...Any suggestions on what this one might be?
