  1. OK....I couldn't stand the wait with the $86 price showing. I booked it and it was the Sheraton Old San Juan. Yippee!! The amenities listed were... Fitness Center Pool Restaurant(s) Business Center High-Speed Internet Access Tennis Nearby In reality the amenities are... Casino Fitness Center Pool Restaurant(s) Business Center High-Speed Internet Access Tennis Nearby We've stayed here before and this was the hotel we hoped for since it's easy walking all around Old San Juan - no taxi needed. We were treated well the last time we stayed here with a PRICELINE bid - they gave us a high floor with a water view that time. Gina
  2. I'm looking for 3 1/2 star San Juan for November 2 nights. For $87 what came up had this listed for amenties... Fitness Center Pool Restaurant(s) Business Center High-Speed Internet Access Tennis Nearby The closest match had all the same plus casino Nothing else was close. It was the Sheraton Old San Juan which I wanted. Do they always feature ALL amenities in the hotwire price? Of course I went back a couple hours later and the price is now up to $91 but the same amenities. Last November the Sheraton was listed almost every day on the calendar of wins at $86. Basically, if that's what they are selling, why isn't the casino listed? Gina
  3. And here is the simple version: Amenities See description Smoke Free Rooms Complimentary Breakfast Fitness Center Pool(s) Business Center Laundry Facilities (self-service) High-Speed Internet Access
  4. I'm not sure where to post this. I'm researching Sydney hotels for next March. I notice on the list of winning hotels that the Sydney Marriott is listed as a 5* (previously a 4*) I was wondering why it didn't show in the priceline list of 5* hotels. I eventually found it by name - as a 4* hotel. Maybe it has once again been downgraded. I thought I'd let you know for your list. Unless of course I've missed something. Gina
  5. I thought I might get something lower with Priceline closer to the date but THIS is the hotel I wanted and figured out it was the likely one by the amenities. It would have been $139 with AAA pricing direct, but I'll gladly take the small savings and this hotel which is just a short walk to my son's house and still an easy walk for us to downtown. We passed this property last week on a walk from downtown to our son's house. Had it been one of the other 3* properties on Lake Union, I wouldn't have complained. :) Gina
  6. I bid $95 and was rejected but with an offer to rebid immediately for $25 more. Next day: I bid $100 and was rejected but with the SAME $25 more offer. Today: I bid $105 and got the Delta Vancouver Suites Hotel which pleases me. I like to try something new and the location is great. I went to their website and signed up for the loyalty program so the in room internet will be free (by cable). If I had waited, maybe I could have gotten it cheaper. But I like having my plan secured and for this price I'm very happy. The hotel is offering a non-refundable pre-paid option for those dates of $234/night. Gina
  7. I prefer priceline but we will have 3 people this time. After the research done here and finally understanding Hotwire, I assumed I'd get the Hilton Garden Inn. Any of the 3* hotels with those amenities would have worked well for our 6am flight out of MDW. I checked the AAA price on line for the Hilton Garden Inn and it was $189. Prepay was $161. I also checked Hotwire every Sunday night for the next 2 months and the only better price was the 3rd-4th of July. Tonight's price is outrageous. What's so special about tonight? :) I can now cancel my $161 AAA priced Hampton Inn that was my back up. We weren't going to be there for the "free" breakfast anyway. We can certainly live with this price and a free shuttle to the airport along with free wifi. We have plenty to spare now to buy a bite to eat at the airport. Gina
  8. This is what I assumed. We want to be in the same hotel. I am willing to pay with my card but not the other way around. We want our ff miles from the card and we are the Americans in the deal and would lose on the currency exchange. They would have to convert from Aussie dollars to pay us but I'm not sure how they feel about it at this point. It would be most beneficial and easier if priceline just allowed 2 cards as payment. This is for a hotel in Hawaii in 4/2012 so there is still time to think about it. Maybe we'll get lucky and find a place and price we can live with by just booking it direct. Thanks for your help. Gina
  9. Hi, Yes, I've posted every win I've even gotten. Now I need help with Priceline because their help site isn't working. We will be traveling with friends and will need 2 rooms. They want to pay with their card and of course we want to pay with ours. Is it possible to use 2 cards on one bid for 2 rooms and have the price split equally? Gina
  10. I've been trying for the same area since March 13 without success. The last time was $80 just 3 days ago. I just tried $81, too, and got rejected. Oh well, I have a back up booked and will try to bid less a couple of weeks prior to arrival - maybe someone well get desperate - probably not likely on memorial day weekend though. Congrats on your "beginner's luck". :) Gina
  11. It's only 4 blocks farther than the Renaissance which we bid on and won last year. We enjoyed the walk. But it doesn't cost much more to just pay when you stay so it wasn't a great deal from what I can tell. It's definitely within the zone shown for Pike Place area and it's certainly one of the eleven 4* hotels available at Priceline available for sale within the area. Gina
  12. NO...a lower bid will not be accepted. I've been working my way up from $65 for 5/27 - 5/30 for a 4* in Seattle (pike place) and today bid $90 and got rejected by all. I may actually start lower and work my way up again since there is still plenty of time. Gina
  13. For the record, in case anyone else gets this hotel, the google maps location at this time is definitely wrong. I have located the address on the map and informed google of the location problem. I am still pleased with the location (1.7 km or 20 minute walk to the east of pin) although it's not directly on the water as shown. It's probably a better location as far as exploring and finding great places to eat.
  14. This is the property at 1369 Ashford Ave. I bid $50 the first time for a 3.5* in hopes of getting the Sheraton Old San Juan. I raised the price by $5 every day or two. At $65 I was offered a rebid if I raised my price by $20. No way. The next day at $70 I was offered a rebid if I raised my bid by $20 again. No way. I bid $75 the next day and got the Radisson. We are perfectly happy with it. It will be a short cab ride into Old Town which is fine and really close to the cruise port we are using. There is a nice fitness center which we'll use, free wifi even in the room, and the rooms all have balconies. And the entire hotel AND casino are smoke free. What more could we want? A free shuttle into town? :) The trade off is fine at this price. The location on the water appears interesting and we're looking forward to someplace different. The trip advisor rating is only one different than the Sheraton. Actually, it's 2 better than the Sheraton in Old San Juan. Yes, I used the PRICELINE link here....always do. This site has been so great and informative. The only thing I wonder...why did I bid this far out? I usually prefer to wait until under the 2 month mark. It's nice to have it taken care of and out of the way though. Gina
  15. Last August we bid on priceline and got the Sheraton Old San Juan. Our 11% tax was already included in what we paid PRICELINE. At check out we paid the 11% service fee. So obviously, the lower your winning bid, the lower your service charge. Our charge was about $10 a night since our winning bid was under $100 if I remember correctly. We did not leave a tip for the maid since I assume that is covered by the service fee. This was a fabulous deal and the hotel was perfect for us. When we arrived they upgraded our room to water view on a high floor. I can only hope we will have this hotel as our winning bid when we do it again this August. Right now we could pay around $165 total per day with all fees for the dates we want - AAA rate. I want better. :)
  16. Having no car was not an option for us as we are leaving tomorrow for Vancouver and driving one way. We did walk everywhere while here except for yesterday when we drove to visit our son who lives outside of the city. Right now we are in our Renaissance hotel room for our last of 2 nights. What a great deal. Our Marriott rewards number was added at check in and we were given a corner executive suite - a living room and bedroom divided by a hall with a bathroom. Tomorrow we will check into our Vancouver priceline Hyatt hotel room. I anticipate it will turn out as well. Our car will be turned before we check in at the cruise port a few blocks away so no parking fees will be incurred there. oh yeah - It's $30 plus tax to park - not $36 plus tax. And well worth the convenience.
  17. Very happy - yes, we used the PRICELINE link here to bid. Seeing how low the Seattle hotels sometimes go here, I bid $55 yesterday on 4*. I was rejected but offered an immediate rebid if I raised it by $15. I opted against that and decided to rebid today at only only $10 more since at $5 more they gave me the warning that it was unlikely I'd get anything. At $65 the warning went away. I expected to get the message, after I bid, that it had not been 24 hours since my last bid, since it has not been that long. I was pleasantly surprised to have my offer accepted at the hotel I was hoping for - but would have happily taken any place. $30 a night for parking? - I consider that a savings since I was going to have to pay $10 at the hotel I planned to stay at outside of Pike Place area and I would have to drive into the city and pay to park anyway. Now we can park and leave it and walk anywhere we want. I like the convenience....for $95 a night including parking. I love Renaissance Hotels - who needs loyalty points when you get a price this low?
  18. It took a few days. Bids of 70, 75, 80, 85, and 90 were rejected but tonight they offered me an immediate rebid if I raised it by $15 to $105. That was an acceptable price for the Hyatt which I assumed I'd get. I figure I could have waited and gotten it for a lower price but who knows...I just wanted it done and over with. We are happy with the price, location and we used the link at the top of the page here. Thanks!
  19. I saw someone else got this hotel at this price...just where we wanted to stay - right by the cruise port. We were of course willing to take what we could get at this price. So we bid and hoped and got it. I checked the Sheraton website first. It was $179 at the regular price and $139 with my AAA discount. So getting it at $85 on a first bid was great. Maybe I should have started at $80....but we are HAPPY! It's just over $100 with taxes. WOW! Great! :) Gina
