  1. That sounds like good advice. I am wondering if anyone knows what the 3.5* hotel in Pike Place is. When I checked this site, the only 3.5* is the Marriott. That would be fine with us! I don't want to pay more than $100 with tax by the way!
  2. Thank you so much for your reply. I definitely want to do priceline. Most 4*hotels are very accommodating.
  3. Thank you. Our date is July 30th. Also, if we get a 4* hotel, hopefully we can get a rollaway for our 4 year old. If not, we'll set up some kind of arrangement for him - maybe on the floor with blankets etc... The question is, are we even allowed to be in a priceline room with 3 people? Thanks again!
  4. Hello: May I please have a bidding strategy for the following: Late July for 1 night and a week later for 1 night: 4* hotel in downtown Seattle, Pike Place We are a family of 2 adults and a 4 year old child. Thanks so much
  5. Hi Aaron, Many hotels in the US offer a Federal Government discount if you have a valid ID. Sometimes a hotel will offer it but it's sold out. In this case I will talk to the reservation manager in house. Often times they will offer the rate or reduce a rate for you. Thanks for the hint about Beekman. If there is a good chance of that I may go for it. A suite would be nice and the east side is appealing. Thanks and I look forward to hearing from thereuare.
  6. I followed up on the 2 threads. Thank you for reminding me. Sorry, I thought when you ask questions about hotwire you must stay in the hotwire foirum and same with priceline. I'll know for next time! I have not tried bidding yet as I'm waiting to see what a friend who is going with us wants to do. It sure seems like the $214price at Parker Meridien is a good deal. Anyway...any ideas on the hotwire hotel? Thank you...
  7. I won the Crown Plaza....November 23rd. They put me in a smoking room...HOWEVER....the floor reeked of smoke but the actual room was fine. Nice room, very clean, nice amenities and no smell.
  8. We ended up splurging and staying at the Sofitel. Wonderful hotel.
  9. Hello again! I found a 3* on Hotwire for April 13-15th. It has: suite fitness restaurant business center kitchenette $174 a night Any ideas?? Thanks!
  10. Hello, I would like a 4* hotel (2 rooms) preferrably on the East Side or Central Park, Upper Midtown area. I want to stay away from Times Square, Lower manhattan, and MS. I have a backup...Parker Meridien for $214 a night. Seems like a good rate for this weekend. Dates are 4/13 through 4/15. My maximum bid is maybe $160 a night plus tax. That is, if I can save $50 a night priceline would be worth it. Otherwise, I'll stick with PM. Thanks in advance!
  11. I bid $42, then $45 and got rejected. Then I bid $47 and they told me to bid $60 and I'll win. I closed the browser and bid $55 through savingsbarn. Voila!
  12. Just wanted to report a winning priceline bid. Midweek, mid-November, 1 night, $55 plus taxes - total-$69. Phoenix Airport.
  13. Actually, now I am thinking of just bidding for the 2.5* and hope for the Courtyard. Do you think I'll get that one? If so, how much should I bid? Max bid would be $50
  14. Thanks so much...Do you know which hotel(s) I will probably get. I know that nothing is certain but any guesses?? Thanks!
  15. I reserved a suite at the Marriott courtyard for $125 and a standard king at the Sofitel for $185. Basically, if I can get a 4* in the city center for under $80 that would be great.
  16. Hello, I would like advice on bidding for a 4* hotel in Philly downtown. Here are my parameters: 1 night, Thursday, Sept. 28 4* City Center What hotel(s) will I likely get? Any ideas? Thanks in advance...again!!
  17. The Grand Hyatt is a very nice hotel but just isn't in a location that my wife and I desire for this particular trip. I guess this one time priceline may not be my best bet! I got a special rate at the PM with a little negotiation and a nice manager. Very lucky. I'll be back next time as I probably won't get so lucky. Thanks again for your responses.
  18. No I don't want to include ME or MW because I don't want to chance getting the Hyatt Grand Central or Millenium UN. The hotels in CPS look the best to us as far as location and hotel. What do you think my bid would have to be that time of year? Thanks again...
  19. Hello, Can you please give me a bidding strategy for Sept. 26-29th in UM/CPS? We do not want to pay above $175 (before taxes) as we have the Parker Meridien for $225 a night through the hotel. What do you think; is this unreasonable due to the time of year? Thanks in advance
  20. Ended up staying at the 3* Park Central for 150 a night through PL.
  21. I ended up not going to Chicago. Thanks for your help.
  22. Of course I forgot to thank you! I'll check hotwire periodically because I've seen 4*'s for as low as $45.
  23. Actually just got a convention rate at the Hyatt Regency for $95 so I booked that as well. How do the Swisotel, FDairmont and the Hyatt compare in your opinion? About the same?
  24. Hey thanks a lot. I would like to do better than the Knickerbocker Millenium. I booked the Swissotel for $119 a night as a backup. That seems like a pretty good deal but I think we could do better!!?? However, If I did find a geat bargain I would definitely book it now (non-refundable etc...)
