  1. Well. spoke to soon. I wasn't able to scroll as much as I thought in portrait mode. Got on the pc, did a proper search using biddinghelper. Sound a different area to check, came up with most likely Sofit St James for $338 a night. Clicked further, with the taxes and fees is was $1763 for four nights, direct booking would be $1764. Thanks for all your help. If I do find something I will be sure to post. Right now my eyes hurt.
  2. Thanks again, I tried a couple of things. i was using Safari in private mode, turned that off. Also, i had my ipad locked on landscape, tuened that off and now I can scroll through on the biddinghelper ! hooray! Btw, I am using an Ipad Air 2, ver 12.2, i have it search8ng for updates. Tried to find my version of safari but didnt see that in my settings. I am trying to nail this reservation today, i still have two more stops to book for this trip.
  3. Thank you, This looks like a good deal for the InterContinental but I would like to see other options. Any help you can give me for using the BiddingHelp link would be appreciated. I’ve been using safari for iOs, and cannot scroll past the first listing. i downloaded Firefox, same result. I am not very tech saavy so this is fustrating. Is there a browser that better supports this site? I will get on our PC later this morning and hopefully will have better luck. I took a screenshot of what I’m seeing but can’t post it here in this message box, proving my above lack of tech skills 🙃 Thanks again for your help! Oh wait...I might have it, nope that insert other media doesn’t let me add screenshot.
  4. Thank you so much, i did try bidding helper, but wasn’t able to get where I wanted. At this point I can’t even tell you specifically what i tried. I’ve been on this site for a few days and not sure why my ipad isn’t navigating the way I’m used to. OE for sure! Thanks again, Amy
  5. Need help, not sure if I amin the right place, i’m working off an ipad which isn’t very cooperative. Sorry for the double posting of amenities, I’m afraid if I attempt to delete one i lose everything. 5* PRICELINE EXPRESS $200 a night. Soho/ Mayfair
  6. Got this for $90 a night which is a good value, retail is $120. The taxes/fees were stiff though $40. Bottom line, paid $196 HOTWIRE vs $266 through hotel site. Very happy about that. *4 Lancaster area Amenities Airport shuttle Business center Fitness center Free parking Internet access Pool(s) Restaurant(s) Self-service laundry Smoke-free rooms 90% recommend
  7. In case anyone is wondering, this is a very nice hotel. The staff is extremely friendly and helpful. It's very clean in all areas and the rooms look like they have been recently completely renovated including flat screen tv's. No fridge in room but it is available for an extra $3 a night if needed. Will probably have to get another room next week, I'll use the HOTWIRE link. Thanks!
  8. I tried to find more ammenites from the reservation but all I'm seeing is this Accessible for visually impaired Accessible for hearing impaired Accessible path of travel In-room accessibility Accessible bathroom Accessible parking Roll-in shower
  9. Got impatient and pulled the trigger in this one. It turns out it is the Sleep Inn in Mountville. Happy with the result, the reviews are consistently very good. Price on the hotels website is $100 so this was a very good buy!
  10. Looking on Hotwire there is a Lancaster area hotel listed for $63 ($119). 2.5* Lancaster Area Business center Fitness center Free breakfast Indoor pool(s) Pool(s) Restaurant(s) It shows a 4/5 rating for tripadvisor with 100% recommended by Hotwire. Any idea what property this could be? Travel dates, 6/14/2015-6/18/2015 one person Seems like a great deal, I would really like to get a room that includes a micro/frig, so that's why I'm trying to narrow it down, Thanks
  11. What was listed Breakfast Internet Parking Pets Used the Priceline express Extremely happy with this win, used the Priceline link from here, didn't have time to go through the bidding process. Hotel website was showing $99 a night for this night. Very nice property by the way. Paid $50.76 after taxes and discount code spring14
  12. Last weeks win for the 2* Microtel Blacksburg was on PRICELINE, I reported that to the board on 8/11, I wasn't sure if I should post something on the HOTWIRE forum as I didn't actually win this one, just figured it out but reserved directly w/the hotel. It was kinda cool knowing exactly what hotel HOTWIRE was offering after reading the reviews and after staying in so many of the 2*'s down there.
  13. Thanks for the tips! Yes, the area, VA Tech territory is really dependent on the college to fill the many many 2* hotels. Football games, move in a move out days the hotels all jack their rates to unbelievable levels. Imagine a 1* going for $100 a night. Hotels within a 30-40 mile radius are almost as bad. This morning, hoping for last minute cancellations, I was going to try my hand at PRICELINE again but following your suggestion I tried HOTWIRE first. I was able to identify the 2* listed for$69 + 14.51, for a total of $83.51. The icons listed were Complimentary breakfast, Fitness Ctr and Laundry. I read the reviews which gave it away as the Microtel Inn Blacksburg-Christiansburg (the place I got last week). Checking the Microtel website I was able to reserve a room (senior rate) for $62.96 + 7.55 for a total of $70.51. Reserving directly I also got a larger room with two queen beds and choice of smoking/non, plus I can cancel up until 6pm tomorrow without penalty. Should I post something on the HOTWIRE section as I know this is definitely the hotel? I'm running out now, so it will be when I get back. Many thanks again for all your help! (I haven't totally given up on PRICELINE, I may still try for a cheap 3* but at least I know I've got a place)
  14. Sorry for the confusion. I've gone on a lot of sites including the county Chamber of Commerce which lists real time availability. From what I have been able to gather it looks like all the 3*'s are sold out so I doubt they would be available at any price on PRICELINE or HOTWIRE. This leaves me with 2* options, there are so many 2*'s that are not really comparable. I'm just trying to avoid paying retail while getting a room that I feel safe in, not sure if that is going to be possible for this trip at this time (last move in day for students of VATech). I might start looking at Roanoke about 45 minutes north.
  15. Looking online at the best rate I can find for this town for this night is the Super 8 on Laurel St. It is rated a 2*. On the Super8 website to direct book this it would be $68.54 with the aarp discount. There are so many 2* hotels in this zone that I am hesitant to use either PRICELINE.com or HOTWIRE.com for anything above $40. Some of these are definitely not 2* hotels, including the other Super 8, that one wouldn't even be worth $40 (including taxes and fees). I've got a couple of days, I'll let you know what happens. :)
  16. What is retail rate and/or your maximum bid for this stay? That's a good question! I've got to do some more research on the retail side with the taxes. Are the fees that PRICELINE and HOTWIRE add a percentage or a flat fee?
  17. Okay, I'm not picky. I need a room for one night, one person, based on reviews the only thing I don't want is the Knights Inn. I have stayed at both Super 8's, Microtel, Holiday Inn and the Super 8 in Radford. I would like to win a bid at maybe 30 % less than retail. I can get 10-20% off with AARP without the priceline service charge so...... I'm going to start tonight with a $55 bid for a 3 star, I think there is only one, the Holiday Inn. I'm sure I'll be rejected but I have a few days here.
  18. No exactly what I wanted but not horrible in an area that is very difficult at certain times, it's a college (VA Tech) town. Probably should have waited and bid lower for a 2* but it's move in time for the Tech students and I really wanted something finalized. Tried 3* 55 rejected 2 1/2* 50 rejected 2* accepted for Microtel. $46.00 13.28 Total 59.28 roughly ten dollars cheaper than their retail. I've stayed here before it's not bad, very clean and pleasant staff, just extremely small rooms - Micro! :) Overall happy with the win. Thanks better bidding! I used the PRICELINE link from this site. ***tried to edit the the topic line to add the ...between price and dates, couldn't figure it out :)
  19. Thanks for posting this win! I have never had any luck in the Blacksburg/Christiansburg area. Just tried $55 for 3* Blacksburg, rejected, 2 1/2 * $50 rejected. Will try again tomorrow.
