2* St Louis Best Western Airport Plaza Inn & Conference Center $58 ... 7/30/11-7/31/11 This is a very busy wkend in STL with Cubs-Cards series ongoing. Initially, I tried yesterday (Friday afternoon) for a downtown hotel with check-in Saturday, but, no luck at price I was willing to pay. Today (check-in day), my husband began looking for high end hotels by airport at my cheap price range but nogood there, too, bidding a little higher price and next lower $ level until I had hit my high mark of $72 for a 2.5*. Finally, I settled today for 2* bid at airport but jacked my price down to $58, and presto, got a place to put my head on a pillow tonite following wedding & reception. Used the BetterBidding.com link to PRICELINE. Won on first bid. Got Crowne Plaza Hotel Old Town Alexandria. Had two areas chosen Alexandria and Arlington. Was expecting to add more areas, drop star levels and increase bid since it is supposedly Cherry Blossom Festival and I had bid only 2 nites prior to first nite of stay. Bid $85 for 3star Hotel in Ft Lauderdale North Beach area for Friday, Jan 7, 2011. Bid accepted by Hyatt Regency Pier Sixty-Six as reported back to us they had upgraded us from a 3Star request to a 4Star Win. I was a happy happy bidder. But, aaargh! I actually needed TWO nites. PRICELINE immediately offered me another nite pre-check-in or post-checkout for same price, so I gratefully accepted the extra nite post-checkout. But, the offer was a kind of tease, as Priceline actually resubmitted the $85 bid for 2nd nite and lo, came back to me saying it could not find such a deal for Saturday nite, Jan 8, 2011 at same hotel. But, being PRICELINE, it didn't leave me completely hanging, instead, it said it could offer me Saturday nite at $165 -- with the caveat they could not guarantee it'd be same room as Friday nite but would be same hotel. Oy! Eventually, I relented and took the 2nd nite at higher price and the new receipt for the two nites printed out saying my Hyatt Reency Pier Sixty-Six deal was a 3Star deal. Initial bid at $76. Offered immediate rebid with $15 increment which was accepted by Sheraton Seattle for $91. The immediate rebid offer was new to me and I took it without remembering it would be times 2 for $30 increase on a 2nite stay. With 20-20 hindsight, I wish I would've waited 24hrs out or added zone/dropped a star/increased by less $$.
