I've attempted to find a hotel in Central Birmingham or Homewood/Oxmoor area for just one night. The prices have been higher than expected. I have booked a 2* in homewood previously (Quality Inn) for $48 plus tax/fees. I've also won a 3 star and 3 1/2 stars in Central Bham from $69 up to $76. Searching for this one day trip has been frustrating. Central Bham only has a 1* for $46-$49 and Homewood/Oxmoor has a 2* for $61-66. I opened my search a bit and won the Holiday Inn Birmingham Airport for $44. Total with taxes and fees = $58.82. A little further out than I wanted to drive, but not horrible.

I am looking at that same area. I found a 2 1/2 star on hotwire for $51 in Nashville (Brentwood). After researching, I believe it is either the Brentwood Suites or the MainStay Suites. Not sure if I am going to choose this option.

Yes I am looking for Jersey City/Hoboken area or Manhattan. We travel to the area a few times a year for leisure and have stayed at a few hotels in both areas. Yeah I think Ill stay away from the 2 1/2 star, I dont want to get "stuck" staying on Hwy 1/9. Not great for transit and too many hookers.

got it on 2nd bid for $55. 1st bid was $50. Searched for 3.5* only in Central Birmingham on first bid, then expanded to Central Birmingham and Inverness for only 3.5* on 2nd bid. Got two rooms at this price so 55x2=$110 +24.36 in taxes. Total price for both $134.36
