I was shooting for the downtown Hilton like I got last year ... bid $50 on a 3* and get rejected, rebid on 2.5 and get bumped to 3... but the same tactics got me the Red Lion Inn...which I'm ok with but not as happy as I would have been with the Hilton. Oh well that's the gamble and it's just one night.

In my trip history it shows as 3*. Interesting.

Before I found this board I got a tip from a friend that if I put in $50 and 3* it would be accepted by Hilton. So I put that in but there was no 3* so I treid 2.5* and that worked and was accepted as the Hilton in downtown Eugene.

I saw on the forum here that someone had gotten a room for $40 so I tried that first. I put in 3* which was rejected. I lowered to 2.5* which was also rejected. Came back the next day and put in 3* and $50 which was rejected. Then I put in $51 and 2.5*. Offer was accepted and bumped to 3*. Confirmed for the Courtyard by Marriot Missoula.
