  2. ooooooooooooooooooooooooooooook sorry about that, lol way over my head :)
  3. I just realized it wasn't Hotels.com........it was hotelsvacations...something or other.net but it looked like a cheap rip off of Hotels.com sorry bout confusing that
  4. 2.5* Amerisuites Lakeland Center, Lakeland, FL 8/6/05---8/7/05, 1 night (Saturday night) first bid accepted of $54 nobody has ever successfully posted about Lakeland, FL.....except for me but that was for the Hotwire lists I once made a thread on here for bidding help on Lakeland and wasn't able to get anything with my bidding, I've also tried SEVERAL times to bid on this area and have bid very high (~80 for 1*) and couldn't get anything! this is because it's not a tourist town, and really generally looks to have no availability thru priceline, but this time I got lucky! :) (there's been a couple threads on here talking about how small cities don't yield much luck with priceline) plus there's no free rebid zones for Lakeland, so I had to make my one bid count unless I wanted to try for a 1* or 2* I'm very, very pleased because I've been forced to use other sites like Hotels.com whenever I needed to travel to Lakeland, which I do quite a bit, and usually save only a couple $$$ and lots of times have to stay in other cities of central Florida when I really need to be in Lakeland I was shocked I got this on my first try and really thought no way would I ever get anything in Lakeland! (best available price is $90 for that date)
  5. mmmm this is really really really hard to say............there's no rule of thumb to be honest ok these are basically the lowest (but definitely not the norm) 5* from $55 (+/- $20 around $100 often) resort* from $40 (unfortunately we normally see close to $100....however certain really hot areas go into the 50's) based on what we typically see 4* range from lowest $40 ($40 is really rare any way you slice it, usually we break above mid 50's) 3* from $25 (we see lots of 30's and 40's for really good deals) 2.5* from $19 (upper 30's and up usually) 2* from $17 (20's---40's is a good deal) 1* from $15 (20's 30's very common)
  6. hotwire can gurantee quad occupancy you'll want to start a new separate thread in the Louisiana section for your bid priceline doesn't guarantee quad occupancy, however sometimes hotels will accomodate you depending on if it's busy and/or their hotel's policies
  7. it means the hotel doesn't have room for you, so they have to have you go to another hotel, but the hotel will pay for it so it doesn't cost you anything (except for incidentals) there are 2 cases: 1) the money you originally paid to priceline..........that DOESN'T get refunded 2) the money you originally paid to priceline..........that DOES get refunded unfortunately 1) seems a little more common.......an interesting 3rd option would be offere you a free nights stay at the hotel that was booked up in the future it's completely up to priceline whether to refund you and up to the hotel as to what hotel they'll walk you to, could be equivalent, better, or worse
  8. Um, that's from hotwire..............do you want help with hotwire or priceline?........are you going to take the advice we gave above for hotwire?
  9. Red Roof Inn is 1* or a motel............pricewise you might think you need to go with 2 or 2.5* but in reality the whole Orlando zone can be quite cheap and you can get something in that price range that is 3*, also thereuare has pointed out that those dates are particularly inexpensive, make sure you understand free rebids
  10. you were charged an extra fee like a "resort fee" or you were actually charged the going rate that the hotel normally charges for those nights you were there?
  11. "Main strip" in Orlando, near Universal Studios = International Drive restaurants, hotels, places to go things to do.....all the stuff you would expect, it's one of the busies roads in the world I'd suggest you bid on the Universal/Sea World zone........you'd be where the action is and near International Drive in all likelihood are you firm on those dates? 1*,2*,2.5*,3*,4* or resort level hotel would you like? give us all the info. about your trip and we can suggest a bidding strategy :)
  12. Expedia asiarooms.com just from a quick search... :)
  13. you live in a small hometown...........what's the surprise about having only 1 hotel listed in a small town?
  14. thanks, but I'm not that smart.............I've only discovered priceline this year! :)
  15. Here's the deal: the Wyndham is undoubtedly a RESORT..........the sheer size of the property, the amenities, yes despite all the negative rumors you've heard it's a RESORT..... now here's the problem: it doesn't have the level of service that a RESORT should have........the truth is that the property is so taxed and abused my the constant influx of DISNEY tourists and being that the property is older it simply has major problems property is enormous, there's valet parking and there's free parking....from the free parking lot (which is huge) to the hotel entrance is an uphill hike in itself....the whole time I was there at all hours of the day and night the check-in line was very long and very slow, they didn't have enough people working behind the desk and the ones who did moved very slowly.....very pretty lobby, art, decorations, very classy, very huge, bellman, valet, security, hotel staff, all the things you would expect at a 4* or RESORT property, pools, hot tubs, tennis, volleyball, 7 restaurants, 24 hr. room service, 1 pool is 24 hrs., convention center, spa center, the list goes on and on the room....king size bed very comfortable bed and pillows, half a headboard, lights didn't work so well, ceiling fan, nice entertainment center with tv, coffee and tea, mini-bar (but wasn't stocked?), bathroom nice and clean and shower/tub had a sliding door, when I first came into the room I noticed behind the curtains is a sliding glass door leading to an outside enclosure, which had a jacuzzi!!!! :) (btw this wasn't a suite, this was a regular room but not all the rooms have jacuzzis) so was very impressed.....but now to the problems....a large cockroach came into the room from the outside room.........the hotel had a major problem and the A/C wasn't really working, and everybody in the hotel was complaining about it and it wasn't fixed from the time of check-in to check-out, also there was a musty smell most likely because the air didn't work, 2nd night I notice the water dripping sounds from the A/C and realize after a while the carpet is beginning to get soaked, I try calling the front desk for several minutes and no answer so I march downstairs, and ask to be moved to a new room........I've learned that screaming and yelling doesn't help I used to do that with hotels and it just makes more trouble, so I just acted calm but made the front desk person realize I was mad, there were several people complaining about their rooms and the A/C and waiting for towels for 8 hours and one man told me his trip had been a nightmare and a snowball of problems from the very beggining, they bumped me to a new room with no jacuzzi but a small balcony, but I also requested they refund my Resort Fee for the 2 nights! :) (they better hold to their word!) I got it for $87 a night thru priceline, which is a little more then most people get this hotel for.......... would I stay there again.....yes would I go out of my way to stay there again.....no right across the street from Downtown Disney, 1 exit on I-4 from Sea World, a couple exits from DISNEY and Universal for the priceline savings I can't complain, but I will admit the RESORT has some major problems but people are wrong to say it's not a RESORT level property, if you're patient and you save money on your stay you'll see it's actually pretty nice it's a mixed bag, so the amenities are there but maybe the value is lacking for the service you receive..........but then again this is what happens at DISNEY resorts which are just flooded with people every day of the year
  16. I'm going to post a review about my recent stay.......this is a pretty controversial property so it's a must read! :)
  17. can you please post a separate thread for your winning priceline bid
  18. nice job, I stayed there and it's perfect for families, and in my opinion they could call it a 2.5*, don't be scared off my bad reviews from tripadvisor watch out for the Daily Resort Fee of $3.50 though :)
  19. some confusion here... Kissimmee and West Disney Zones of Pricline only offer 1* and 2* hotels Universal Zone of Priceline offers 1*,2*,2.5*,3*,4*, and resorts WDW Zone of Priceline offers 1*,2*,2.5*,3*, and resorts based on recent wins, you'll have better luck in the WDW Zone for a resort vs. the Universal Zone the Wyndham Palace and Resort, Hyatt, Omni & Hilton have all come up between $55---$100+ also, if you want a 4* in the Zones you listed you'd be in the Universal Zone, and it would be the Peabody which has come up in the $70's lately please tell us..... do you want 4* or resort or can you go either way? what are the dates of your trip?
  20. It seems like nobody ever gets a good deal on this hotel, most of the time it's $100+, that's a shame :)
