  1. Yes, they're closer to Brandon. Brandon is just smaller and there's not much to it from what I understand. While Tampa is a big city with a lot of thrills. Crime I don't know about but it can happen anywhere regardless.
  2. Brandon although close to Tampa will be kind of a drag to drive back and forth for 4 nights in my opinion. If I absolutely had to take a 2.5* I would prefer Tampa so at least I wouldn't have to drive back and forth every day. Budget-wise see if you can get a 2.5* in Tampa, if not I'd spend the extra money for a 3* in Tampa vs. anything in Brandon.
  3. well you better hurry if you need a hotel for tonight! multiple nights doesn't necessarily equal a lower price per night vs. a single-night stay the add-a-night feature will be locked in as the same price as your winning bid price, but some members have been reporting problems with the add-a-night feature not showing up I-75 I'd take Tampa East over Brandon myself if your stay starts tonight you might have to settle for lower then 3*, or try another area of Tampa like the airport zone....cutoff for same-day reservations is 11pm
  4. in this case I would dispute the priceline charge with your credit card company, typically priceline wins disputes, but seeing how priceline is admitting fault you would most likely when the chargeback for the cost of the original priceline reservation
  5. ^ I believe so far we've only seen it for US hotels.
  6. Priceline only guarantees double occupany, for Hotwire it's quad. Most hotels won't make a fuss if it's your children though. It's basically 4 adults in one room which I think is pretty cramped personally.
  7. pretty good price-wise, usually people get this property for 120 or 130
  8. we don't have this property for the 3* St. Pete Beach area I believe, good job!
  9. 3* Clearwater Beach I can't see you getting for anything less than $100, but we've had very little success with this area. St. Pete Beach 3* you might have better luck at getting in your range, little better luck. St. Pete or Clearwater the cities you can mostly likely snag for your price range for a 3*
  10. I think what the credit card company will say is that if you believe fraud occurs you dispute the Priceline charge and then later if it's resolved the amount charged will be credited to your account. So you didn't have to contact the airlines in the 1st place.....you just file the dispute with your credit card company for the priceline charge. I think by contacting the airlines directly that might have thrown a monkey wrench into you being able to successfully resolve the dispute with your credit card company. I guess you took the reservation # you got for the tickets and called the airlines and cancelled the ticket and asked for the refund, what the person who answered the phone at United should have said was "the charge was made to priceline, not to United.....if you want your $$$ back then dispute the charge with your credit card company to credit back the Priceline charge......you don't have to worry about our end (United)" This is a common dispute with credit cards, where you are charged a different higher price then you were told you would be ultimately charged. Priceline usually wins the dispute when it's the case of somebody just skipping out on a Priceline reservation and then the person just disputes the charge as fraud. But this is different and you would most likely win, however since you contacted United directly and cancelled them and told them to refund Priceline all bets are off. I understand the email is the incorrect price.....when you sign in to your account and view the airline reservation is the price also incorrect there too? It wouldn't make a difference if this was hotel, car, or airline reservation......neither would it make a difference whether the reservation was for that day or for 48 hours later or 6 days later.....to the credit card comany it doesn't make a difference. ^ what I've said above I know to be true, without knowing anything about Priceline at all, I'm a member of a credit-forum and we discuss these issues quite a bit
  11. make sure you post a review here after your trip because we don't have any reviews for this hotel yet and I'm curious myself about this Wyndham Bern's is very expensive, but that might be the best most unique restaurant experience i've ever had
  12. ^ the language isn't so clear, if they mean you successfully Added Night(s) then you can add no more at a later date.....or you can only TRY to Add a Night once and whatever the outcome that's the end of it the latter sounds kinda silly, so I doubt that's what it is but it's ambiguous the way it's written
  13. ^ so you think I'm trying to fool all the members of the board? :) I'm not sure where this attitude comes from, you only posted for the 1st time today!!!....I've been here over a year and am only here to help others here's proof of all 3 rules for the nay-sayers: WillTravel, I think I saw others reporting this....it's a problem on Priceline's end for sure
  14. ^ Priceline itself if you make your request before 11am local property time on the new check-in date (provided the hotel allows same-day bookings, otherwise the request must be placed as of midnight the night before check-in) so you can be sitting in the Barclay January 1st, 2007 at 10:30AM Eastern Time, and still try to Add a Night (provided they allow same-day check-in, and provided check out isn't before 10:30AM and provided the Add a Night feature will allow you to extend your stay depending upon availability of the hotel LOL) but now that you can make same-day reservations up to 11PM, if you can't get the Barclay for the Add a Night, you have until 11PM that night to keep trying on a new bid these 3 rules are GREAT
  15. Now you can make same-day reservations up to 11pm !!! (it used to be only until 6pm) The lockout period for rebidding is now 24 hours!!! (it used to be 72 hours) The Add-a-Night feature can now be used up to 11am the morning of your checkout!!! (it used to be midnight the day before check-in)
  16. the point is using a credit card will have the hotel place a hold for a certain amount on the card for X many days......eventually the charge will fall off as long as they don't need to charge you for any damages......and it will just reduce your available credit on that card but if it's a debit card and a certain amount is held on the card for X many days which can lead to overdrafting of your bank account
  17. Suggestion: put it on the credit card, if you have no choice use the debit they usually put a larger hold if you use a debit card sometimes it's a weird amount, it can be anywhere from $50 sometimes to the rack rate for your whole stay....I've stayed someplaces and they never put a hold or only $40 bucks or so at an expensive hotel and other times they put a few hundred dollars hold at a cheap hotel
  18. ^ the hotel has nothing to do with refunding, if a refund comers from anywhere it comes from priceline, bottom line
  19. Luckily, I don't think this one person's complaint will hurt Hotwire in the longrun. Some people know very little about what it means when you agree to a contract with someone, people think they can make their own rules as they go along. This person made a choice between their dogs and a lot of $$$ spent on their trip, they chose the dog so they have to live with the charges. This person wants to have their cake and eat it too, they chose to take care of the dogs and not go on the trip and they want their money back and some kind of free trip in return and want hotwire to admit to fault and want to file a complaint against them. I like how they kept harping on the Alzheimer's patients.......as if they have such an important job that they're entitled to break the rules and do whatever they like! I don't like hotwire myself, but at least I don't make up lies about them!
  20. when you file a complaint with the Better Business Bureau, it's because they have not lived up to their end of the bargain/deal/contract you're filing a complaint because they're not sympathetic to your plight?.....that's a total abuse of the system I'm sorry but that's giving Hotwire a bad name because they won't take pity on you if they had stolen your $$$ or lied to you or something of that nature then you have every right to file a complaint and warn future customers, but this is nothing but filing a complaint for spite you're tarnishing an already ugly situation by doing this :)
  21. If anybody can refund your $$$ it's hotwire, not the hotel (Embassy Suites). Even though hotwire will most likely NOT refund your $$$, they are the only ones who could, NOT the hotel. Hotwire acts as a 3rd party in the hotel reservation, and any problems with the reservation HAVE to be taken up with them. We're all telling you it's a no win situation, the contract was clear and they didn't deceive you. If they did deceive you, you would go after Hotwire, not the hotel. The hotel probably doesn't even know how much $$$ you paid anyways. Unfotunately it's something you have to live with, look at it as a loss in the stock market or something. Again, sorry for all this happening. You'll only cause yourself more grief and aggravation, because nobody at the hotel can help you, and even if you tell them "hotwire won't help me" there's nothing they can do about it unfortunately. You'll only lose money on the international phone call. Short of some CEO offering you a weeklong vacation out of the kindness of their heart, nothing is going to happen.
