  1. First I bid $22 in the WDW zone for 2*, was given a counter-offer of $28, made a new bid for the WDW zone for 2* and added the Universal zone for $25 and got the La Quinta Inn Lakeside, Kissimmee, FL in the WDW zone for $25 a night for 4 nights After taxes, approximately $120 I know of the $3.50 daily resort fee, in June 2005 this is supposed to become the Best Western Lakeside, hopefully they won't lose my reservation!
  2. $160 seems like a lot of money, hope it turns out ok though! good luck!!!
  3. Quick advice for your newbie question, hopefully I'll explain it correctly :) First things first............you got to www.priceline.com, select your city and state, your dates of departure and arrival, select the ZONE of the city you'd like to stay in, for Orlando there are several areas, I'll assume you want the WDW zone, carefully observe the maps and see if this is the area you want to stay in, look over the lists of hotels that have been won in this zone to be sure this is the general area you'd like to stay in. Then you select a star level, you wanted resort just so you know it's rated between a 4* and 5* hotel and usually has luxurious service and several amenities but you probably already know you want a resort, also there is typically a daily resort fee paid once you check out so buyer beware, then you can offer a bid price, if you're bidding on the WDW zone I'd personally suggest start bidding at $55, then you will need to offer lots of information, name the reservation will be under, credit card information, you can review all the peritent information including total costs including taxes, etc. Then you will submit your request, if priceline finds a hotel that accepts your offer your credit card will be charged and your hotel will be revealed. Buyer beware you can't get a refund, techincally you can try to dispute the charge through your credit card issuer but typically this doesn't work with pricline because they have it all over their website that you can't get a refund, and if you do typically you're blacklisted from using priceline ever again. So if you're willing to let them pick the hotel for you you're good to go! Now, in all likelihood your first bid of $55 won't be accepted, so now you can re-bid, you must raise your bid price and change some detail about your trip EITHER check-in and check-out dates or add another zone to your bid now in your case you want a resort, so if you add a zone of Orlando that DOESN'T have a resort you can add it to your bid and of course you won't get a hotel in say the West Disney area, because the West Disney area only has 2* hotels available, also you will need to raise your bid price, I'd say raise it $5 each rebid, so bid WDW for $50 if rejected add the Downtown zone and raise to $55 if rejected add the Florida Mall zone and raise to $60 if rejected add the Kissimmee zone and raise to $65 if rejected add the Maitland-Altamonte Springs zone and raise to $70 if rejected add the Orlando Airport zone and raise to $75 if rejected add the Orlando East zone and raise to $80 if rejected add the West Disney zone and raise to $85 if rejected add the Winter Park zone and raise to $90 personally you may want to stop bidding at $80 or whatever! the point is you should at least increase your bids by a few dollars or there won't be much chance of it being accepted but since Orlando has so many zones not consisting of a resort you can afford to bid several times so you can bid in small increments with the hope of having your bid accepted at the lowest amount, if you 'run out' of these rebids then you must wait 72 hours for the same kind of bid again, but if you want to bid for say a 3* hotel that's ok and you can try a similar strategy
  4. Some major confusion here.... It's NOT accepting your offer, you are OFFERING a BID of $60, they NEED your credit card number to TRY to see if it IS accepted. The list of seven resorts are what have come up in that zone in the past, it's a pretty darn good indication of what's available, but it's no guarantee. Everything is subject to change, but based on the lowest available rates for the seven resorts we know of you can have a pretty good idea of what might come up and what might not. Priceline is for double occupancy (2 people), hotwire does offer up to quad occupancy (4 people), so priceline might not be the best choice for you, you can bid on more than 1 room yes.
  5. mmmm...interesting, I wonder how often it happens when people don't check out on time?
  6. I've had where I called and they gave up an hour or 2, and others times they flat out refused. But I'm more curious as to technically how do they know if you have left or not and when to ask for some kind of financial charge?
  7. Most hotels I've been to have check-out times between 10AM-Noon, some places have late checkout till like 2pm or even later if you're part of a hotel rewards program......anyways what I want to know is, how late can you actually be in the room after the OFFICIAL check-out time before something happens? I mean does somebody go around and check to be sure you really checked out, I've always had the impression that whatever kind of checking they do occurs in the afternoon before new people come to check in so I mean what happens does the hotel person come running in the room and say "you're here after check out we're charging you an extra night!" just curious, you know what's considered proper etiquette, etc. :)
  8. well I ended up just taking the room key with me and stuck it inside my shoe next to my towel I think it's true about losing valuable things in a bathing suit, but I have heard of some people using a ziplock or a baggie or a thing around their neck but it seems to crazy I did notice a lot of people bring all their stuff with them but that is true that you can just go up to your room and identify your items to prove who you are thanks for the help
  9. I don't know, my bathing suit's pocket is so small stuff would fall out of it walking, let alone spinning around in the water! but thanks!
  10. When you're in your hotel and you decide to go down to the pool, hot tub,or beach....what do you bring with you? just your room key? room key and all your stuff (clothes, wallet, etc)? room key and your wallet or ID? we've all had it happen......your room key doesn't work and you have to go back to the front desk and have it replace.... so consider this........you're out relaxing by the pool.........just have your room key with your towel........you go back to your room and your key doesn't work....well you go down to the front desk and they don't know if you're just somebody who found a key or what! so they say "can we please see some ID?" "oh it's in the room! :) it's kinda nerve-racking because you're out by the water relaxing on vacation and not caring about anything and then all of a sudden you CAN'T get into your room, where you have your clothes, car keys, house keys, money credit cards, etc. and you have to prove who you really are! sometimes I don't feel safe leaving my stuff in the room when I'm out in the water, but then again you're a big target if you have all your belongings left by the side of the pool too! so what do you do? please reply back asap cuz I'll be using my priceline hotel reservation later today I know it might seem like a silly thing to ask, but really with identify theft and all that, it can be BIG trouble if you're out of town and have your stuff stolen! :) :) :o
  11. NO, most hotel standard rooms are too small for 6 people. Maybe priceline isn't the right choice for your situation.
  12. I have no clue, I've been to NY a few times before but it was years ago when I was kid so I don't remember where we ate. A quick search online shows Zagats rates Gramercy Tavern and Union Square Cafe as its top two.
  13. I'm confused........you want recommendations of restaurants to go to from the list of NYC restaurants participating in Restaurant Week, or you want recommendations of restaurants in NJ? :)
  14. Restaurants or hotels in Jersey? The link they wanted everybody to find didn't work, so it looked like they moved it to a different webpage on their website.
  15. here you go... NYC RESTAURANT WEEK
  16. if you absolutely have to have friends there, then say "hey guys me and my girlfriend are staying at XXX for XXX nights in XXX,FL", if you guys want to meet us there that'd be awesome but you gotta handle your own expenses and travel plans Hotels don't like it when a group of rowdy college kids all try to show up at once, besides one of your friends start causing trouble they call security and you all end up getting kicked out. College kids cause more trouble in hotels than high school students are. But if you insist on having friends there, say "I used XXXX website to get our room, and I'm sure you can get a similar deal if you do XXXX", that way friends will come along and most likely be in same hotel and you don't have to worry about travel plans. I too have racked up lots of credit card debt and am currently digging myself out of debt, but I have a longdistance relationship with a girl, so I have to constantly make hotel reservations and I manage to save and handle my travel expenses while still paying off my previous debt. Those big trips were fun in high school, but after that stuff like that gets old, like I said if you really want them there tell them exactly what you did to get YOUR room, if they really want to go they can make the same plans. If they're in the hotel down the street big deal, everybody ends up saving money in the end!
  17. Yes UF. Use priceline instead and get 1 room. You'll save money in the long run, and you won't have to worry about anybody else's money but your own. EasyClickTravel is terrible, their star ratings are EXTREMELY innaccurate. Very few people have used it to make reservations on BB, if all else fails I'd used Orbitz or Hotels.com first.
  18. I'm a Graduate student, and I've never done the buddy trip, people just use and abuse you. Trust me it's not worth it, you SHOULD take your girlfriend or a date on a trip and just get 1 room for 2 instead. A much better use of your money!!! :)
  19. Cool, $70 seems the minimum for the 4* level lately in both Orlando and Tampa. :)
  20. it's 4:03 AM Eastern Time and I'm the only person on BB right now, no members or guests wow I have no life!!! :)
  21. Typical Motel, full size bed, headboard, recliner, desk, couple of lamps, 27" tv, wasn't too dirty, served its purpose.
