  1. I would appreciate any pointers as to how in the future I can avoid getting a 3.5 star hotel in the Seattle Airport zone, and only try and get a 3 star in the Seattle Airport zone.
  2. Starting out bidding for a 3 star hotel in the Seattle Airport area: First bid $58 rejected Second bid (added zone Des Moines) $59 accepted and upgraded to a 3.5 star for the Doubletree Hotel Seattle Airport. Fairly happy with this hotel as I have stayed at the hotel before, but was trying to bid a 3 star hotel as I didn't want to end up having to pay $21 a night to park :(
  3. I decided to just wait the 24 hours to bid from scratch, and rethink a bidding strategy. Bid $35 in the Bothell zone 2 star and won at the Extended Stay Bothell-West. I am happy that I will be saving money and will be able to use that saved money towards doing fun things while in Seattle!
  4. First bid $45 Lynnwood zone min 3* = failed Second bid $47 added University WA/Northgate zone min 3* = failed Third bid $49 added Tukwila/Renton zone min 3* = failed I will probably wait till tomorrow (24 hours) to bid again, as I don't want to get a 3 star hotel in the Seattle Airport zone. If that doesn't work I will probably just do a PRICELINE EXPRESS deal.
  5. Edit: meaning that those two zones might be cool to stay in since I have never stayed in them before:)
  6. The zones and star levels that I am trying to avoid: Lynnwood: 2* & 2.5* Tukwila/Renton: 2.5* & 2* University WA-Northgate: 2* SEA-Airport: 1* & 2* & 2.5* & 3* Since I have never stayed in the Lynnwood zone, or the University WA-Northgate zone that might be a good starting point.
  7. I would be okay with bidding the least expensive and bidding in multiple zones. My only reasoning for the different star levels in certain zones is that I am trying to avoid certain hotels in these particular zones, that have a lower star level. I would like to spend under $55 a night, if possible. Breakfast included would be a bonus, but not a must.
  8. My travel dates are 03/27/14-03/30/14 in the Seattle area. I was going to try and get a similar bid that someone on this site recently got. ( 2 star/Lynnwood Extended Stay America Seattle first bid $32 rejected, second bid $34 won) BUT after reading horrible reviews about the non smoking rooms not always being kept as a non smoking room, I just don't want to take a chance and have to smell cigarette smoke in a room! My question is, what would be a good starting bid or bid strategy for the following areas and star levels I am open to? 3* Tukwila/Renton 2.5* University Washington-Northgate 3 * Lynnwood 3.5* Seattle airport Thanks!
  9. First bid $35 3 star Auburn/Federal Way zone = failed Second bid $40 2.5 star Auburn/Federal Way zone = failed Third bid $45 2.5 star Auburn/Federal Way zone = failed (was given an option to pay $57 and I declined) Fourth bid $41 2.5 star Seattle airport zone = failed (was given an option to pay $47 and I declined) Fifth Bid $45 2 star Seattle airport zone = won I should have either taken the $47 2.5 star offer, or lowered my 2 star bid to $40. Oh well, still feel I got a deal :)
  10. Won first bid of $42 zone Renton/Kent 3* Residence Inn Southcenter/Tukwila Dates: May 13-May 15th 2011
  11. I was hoping to spend $80 a night for a 2 star or 2.5 star hotel. I have checked on hotwire and prices went up this morning! HOTWIRE rate is now $94 for a 2 star in Seaside Oregon. 2.5 star is $139. Both of these hotels come up as available on HOTWIRE. PRICELINE has 11 hotels in seaside available for my selected dates. 2 star price starts at $152 per night. Last night I bid again , raised my bid to $70 . Failed bid. PRICELINE says a recent customer bid $70 for a 2 * hotel in seaside. So maybe I am close??? I can only bid one more time tonight, as I am leaving early the next morning. What would you suggest I raise my bid to? If its a failed bid I will try splitting the dates, or as a last resort use HOTWIRE :)
  12. I have been trying to bid on a Seaside Oregon hotel for several days. So far I am up to $65 a night, lowest star level 2 stars. Just wondering if anyone has ever used priceline to stay in that area, and if so what did they get a room for and what hotel. I am looking to go July 25 for 2 nights. Any help would be great! Thanks! PS: I have been thinking about splitting up my dates and booking seperately. Any suggestions? Also I have noticed whenever I book a room through priceline, after I also get an option in my email saying, would you like to extend your stay for the same rate ? Is this ALWAYS something they offer??
  13. First bid on priceline $35 Portland airport area, 3 star. Failed bid. Re-bid right away for $40 , 3 star, added downtown portland area. Won! Staying 3 nights. July/27-July/30
  14. Bid $40 for a 3* hotel in the seattle airport area. Won first bid, Coast hotel June 18th 2010-June 21 2010. Used betterbidding to figure out what others won around the same dates I needed a hotel for. Helped out lots! Also pleased to share with you that they offer free parking!
