  1. Similar situation, 2 rooms for a Thursday night, 6/10/10. We arrived quite late, there were no problems checking in, and we got a good night's sleep. Kids still got to use the pool the next day as it opens at 7 AM, and we then went to breakfast at one of the local restaurants, which there are plenty of. It was good one night stay and I would definitely do it again.
  2. Stayed at the Hilton Orrington in Evanston 6/11/10 - 6/14/10, and I got this room on Priceline for $45 a night. The local area is the Davis Street Metra and "L" stops, adjacent to Northwestern University, very nice. Getting to the hotel was a breeze from I-94. Parking is on the street (metered) or valet only at $20 a day (unlimited in and out) and check-in only took a few minutes. The room was a single with a very comfortable king size bed on the 3rd floor, no view to speak of as we faced out the back side of the hotel, and it had a window unit for heat and A/C. The Globe Cafe (on-site) has an excellent brunch buffet and the Indigo Lounge (lobby bar) has a nice atmosphere. Now for the part that sold me on this on this hotel, the staff. From the Valet to the Maintenance guy, everybody was awesome. We checked in and went to our room to find it was slightly warm but it was 92 degrees outside and who knows how long the A/C unit had been on? So I checked the unit and warm air was coming out even on the coldest setting, popped the front cover off, and bam! Solid Ice. Called the front desk and in 15 minutes we had a new unit in the room blowing out nice cold air. Maintenance spilled a little water on our bed moving the unit out, housekeeping came in and promptly changed the wet linens. So far I am really impressed. We head out for the evening to a wedding towards downtown and ask about a cab/fare, etc. The concierge gets us a town car for a few dollars more, within 5 minutes we are headed down in style and not sweating and standing on the train platform. The rest of the weekend was more of the same, I highly recommend this hotel for anyone staying without kids, looking for shopping, nightlife and being close to the city. Hope this helps!
  3. I am headed to this hotel this weekend from this priceline win, any complaints?

  5. I would also recommend moving north a bit, and I have a post about a winning bid for $45 in the Evanston area, at the Hilton Orrington Hotel, for 6/11 - 6/14. It is a 3.5* and being familiar with the area, I can tell you there is the Chicago EL Red Line stop in Evanston that can get you to the Loop/Downtown or there is the Metra (Union Pacific North) that can get you downtown as well. Oh and by the way, Blues Festival, Half-Marathon, and the Cubs are playing the White Sox...I made it to $100 in the downtown areas before I stopped bidding. Good Luck!
  6. From 7/9 to 7/11 for a 3.5* Milwaukee (Brookfield-New Berlin), I got the newly remodeled Sheraton for $45 a night, 2 rooms. Good Luck!
