  1. I began bidding at $38 for Spokane GEG airport and was rejected. I subsequently added North Spokane as a free bid and was rejected at $41. I then added Liberty Lake as an additional free bid and was accepted at $44 per night at the Ramada Aiport Hotel and Indoor Waterpark. Room Subtotal: $44.00 (USD) Taxes and Fees: $13.93 (USD) Total Room Cost: $57.93 (USD This will work out, well, as I understand I have a 5-minute walk to the airport from this hotel or a can take a shuttle to catch a 6:15 AM flight. Well, as well as 6:15 AM flights may work out. List price for this hotel was $124.99, and with additional taxes would have run $140.36. My 60% savings are in the bag! :)
  2. Started bidding for 3.5* properties at $52. For 3.5* properites, Asheville has free bids at Biltmore Square, Asheville West, Asheville East, and the airport, as the highest star rating for any of these locations was 3*. Rejected: $52 Rejected: $55 Rejected: $58 Rejected: $61 Accepted: $65. After my initial bid I got an offer for $67 per night, so it doesn't appear Priceline was going to let me do much better than their "special" "one-time" offer. The going rate on the hotel website was $142 per night. I'll take a $77 per night savings and run with it.
  3. Accepted on first bid. Bidding in Memphis is a bit more difficult for 3*, as every region has one, so no free bids.
  4. For the Residence Inn- Brentwood (This should have been in the title. I've been unable to edit it). Accepted on first bid. This wasn't my usual stay at the Hyatt Place, which I normally seem to win for right around $52. Perhaps I should have started lower. Average price for the region was $110 according to Priceline. The hotel website listed the rate at $144.
  5. I originally bid looking for The Palms hotel (*2.5) on the Isle of Palms, figuring this was off-season and hoping for a deal. Started bidding at $48 for *2.5 on Mt. Pleasent Isle of Palms and was rejected. Upped bidding to $56 by adding Downtown to the list, which was rejected. Upped bidding again to $60, as the hotel list here did not include anything over *2 in North Charleston - - Northwoods Mall - Wannamker Park. I was subsequently "upgraded" to a *3 Residence Inn, which I'll report back on. Might be good to add that to the Better Bidding Priceline list. Granted, Better Bidding can't have a complete hotel listing, which is of course fair enough, and this will work fine. It's the risk you take rolling with Priceline. I say "roll of the dice" noting that the lowest listed rate on the hotel website is $145 and gets some very nice reviews.
  6. Sure, amenities listed were: Boutique Airport shuttle Restaurant Swimming Pool
  7. I bid at $38 for a 2.5 star for downtown Memphis on Priceline.com, and I was rejected. I could have done the rebid thing, but I decided that after having done some research that it was likely that the Hotwire offer was for the French Quarter, I gave up on Priceline and went with Hotwire (a first). I was primarily looking for an affordable room, and since I'm doing med school interviews, being downtown was a must. 1 room(s) @ $41.00 per night x 1 night(s) $41.00 Taxes and fees: $12.95 Total Price $53.95 The AAA Discount rate was set at $80/night, including tax, so I don't think I did that poorly. I'm not too particular when it comes to hotels. As long as it's clean and cockroach free, I'm happy. Luxury is simply a luxury, and who needs that on a med school interview? I'll leave feedback, though.
