  1. I live in SF and parking is definitely a real pain especially downtown near the hotels. You really don't need a car if you are planning on staying within The City for your stay. It is also difficult to drive around with the one way streets and pedestrians (even for locals) so I would avoid taking a car into the city if possible. Even if you have a car you may find that you don't want to drive it b/c parking is difficult to find at your destination.

    I would recommend the BART option if your plans don't include day trips out of The City. If you are coming from the East go to a BART station in the East Bay and park for free and take BART into The City. If you are coming from the South and are diving up the Peninsula Park in Milbrae, Daly City, or South SF.

  2. Any idea what this hotel could be?:

    4-star in Atlanta (Buckhead)

    fitness, pool, restaurants, business center, customer favorite

    5/26/2007 - 5/28/2007

    $134

    The ammenities do not exactly match either the Hyatt or the Intercontinental. Could it be a new hotel not on the list? Or could the ammentities for the Hyatt or Intercontinental have changed?

    Any thoughts as to what hotel it may be are appreciated as I do not know the area.

  3. Thanks for all the help from everyone in this forum.

    I was eventually able to find a good rate on the Monte Carlo's website for $129 for Friday night and $149 for Saturday night. I booked directly through their website since it is a nice hote (4*) and the rates were excellent.

    I hope to make it back to Vegas soon and get one of those spectacular rates at the Venetian!

  4. I need help with a strategy for a hotel room in or near Santa Monica, CA (Los Angeles area) for this Saturday, January 7, 2006. The Santa Monica - Marina Del Ray area only has 3* hotels available for this night and none of the other areas in LA have anything less than a 3* so how can I maximize by bidding?

    We would prefer a 3* hotel as close as possible to Santa Monica for no more than $100 (Closer to $70 - $80 would be preferable). Do you think this is possible in this zone? Suggestions?

    I would be open to using either of the sites (P or H).

    Thanks!

  5. I just reserved the 4* Sofitel San Francisco Bay on priceline (via the SavingsBarn.com link, of course). I think this is a new hotel to add to the list in the San Mateo area.

    Date of Stay: 12/03/05 - 12/04/05

    I definitely maximized my free re-bid on this try and finally booked the room on my last shot:

    I'm Defining the Zones as the following to make it easier:

    A = San Mateo

    B = Cathedral Hill

    C = Civic Center

    D = South San Francisco

    Bid 1: Zone A, $43 -> rejected

    Bid 2: Zone A + B, $45 -> rejected

    Bid 3: Zone A + C, $48 -> rejected

    Bid 4: Zone A + D, $51 -> rejected

    Bid 5: Zone A + B + C, $53 -> rejected

    Bid 6: Zone A + B + D, $56 -> rejected

    Bid 7: Zone A + C + D, $61 -> rejected

    Bid 8: Zone A + B + C + D, $66 -> ACCEPTED

    Thanks for the previous advice on the permutation strategy ... it came in very hand this time around.

  6. My 4th bid was finally accepted at $53 and we got the 4* Marriott in San Mateo where we wanted to be. Here is how it played out...

    Bid $40 - 4* in San San Mateo Area -> Rejected

    Bid $45 - 4* Added South SF -> Rejected

    Bid $50 - 4* Added Civic Center -> Rejected

    Bid $53 - 4* Added Cathedral Hill -> ACCEPTED

    San Mateo Marriott Sfo Airport (4*)

    Check-In Date: Saturday, October 29, 2005

    Check-Out Date: Sunday, October 30, 2005

    But I'm not sure I completely understand the "permutation Stategy"... can anyone give me a full example so I understand it for future bidding? Thanks!

  7. I've bid 3 times using the strategy suggested and have been rejected each time.

    $40 - 4* in San San Mateo Area -> Rejected

    $45 - 4* Added South SF -> Rejected

    $50 - 4* Added Civic Center -> Rejected

    And on my 3rd and final rebid I plan on trying...

    $55 - 4* by adding Cathedral Hill

    I have one more free re-bid and since we are checking in this Saturday I don't want to bid too low and get rejected again because I don't have the luxury of waiting 72 hours to try bidding again.

    So I have a question about how priceline knows who you are when enforcing the rebidding rules in case I get rejected on my 3rd and final re-bid.

  8. I need help identifying this Vegas Strip hotel available from June 3rd - 5th, 2005. I didn't see a vegas hotel matching these amenities on your hotel list.

    4*: Casino, Restaurant(s), Pool(s), Fitness Center, Spa Services, Golf Nearby, Tennis Nearby, Business Center

    It is listed at $261/night.

    Thanks!

  9. Maybe this isn't the right forum for this, but could is there info somewhere on how easyclicktravel.com works? From nle24's first post, it sounds like it works somewhat like priceline.

    But what I am curious about is how to identify the hotels. For example, there is a 4* hotel available on easyclicktravel.com from June 3-5th for $250/night. Any idea what hotel it is? And are these prices posted here good rates?

    Thanks!

  10. Thanks for all the info!

    Both the Palms and Hardrock sound great, but the Palms is sold out for the weekend and the Hard Rock has a 4 night min for the weekend we will be in Vegas (June 3-5th; two nights). So, I figure I will start by giving priceline a try in the 5*category (i.e. to try to get the Venetian, Bellagio, or equivalent). Can anyone reccmmend a bidding strategy?

  11. hmmm, I just checked the Venetian website as a price guideline and for some reason the rates on the weekend of June 3 - 5th are really inflated. Both Fri and Sat night rates start at $699! Crazy! Yet the retail rates for the weekend before and the weekend after are listed on their website for much less. June 10 - 11th the retail rates are $239 for Fri and $299 for Sat.

    Any idea why the rates would be so high June 3 - 5th? Can we get reasonable rates (<$200/night) through

    priceline, hotwire, or any other consolidator?

    And are there advantages to using sites that link to PRICELINE instead of going directly to priceline.com?

  12. When I first saw some of the postings for Vegas, I noticed that many people were having luck during the month of April getting rooms at the Venetian for less than $150. Something in this price range would be ideal. But after reading more posts, it sounds like that same rate may not be possible during the first weekend of June. If we can find something for ~$200/night that would be acceptable.

  13. Any consolidators that you would recommend checking (websites, etc.)? We are going for my friends bachelor party June 3rd - 5th, 2005. I want to do something nice for him, so I would like to either stay on the strip or at the Palms or Hard Rock hotel..... good hotels for the 20-30 yr old crowd. But since we are young, the price of rooms makes a big difference.
