  1. Bid on 3.5* at Austin Airport for 2/6/09 for one night. Denied at $50, $52, and $54. Accepted at $55. At $50 and $52 offered hotel for $15 more than my bid and did not accept. Fuzzylogik
  2. Just bid on a property that appears to be new (not listed at least). The property is called Hyatt Place and if you haven't stayed at one yet, they are NICE (stayed at one in Kansas City a few months ago)!!! The price I paid was $76/night but it lowered to $73 within hours of my booking. Amenities listed (in order) are: ALL non-smoking rooms, complimentary breakfast, fitness center, pool, business center, and high speed internet. Good bidding, Fuzzylogik
  3. This appears to be a new addition to the hotels available through PRICELINE in the 2.5* category. I was trying to get the Residence Inn for July 12-18, but the lowest price I saw for it here for was $60. I bid $50 and was declined, $54 and was declined, and $58 was accepted. BTW, Tripadvisor ranks the Courtyard as the #1 property in the Columbia area (Residence Inn was 7th). I'm very happy. Fuzzylogik
  4. Bid on a last minute trip. First attempted IAH-area with a $35 attempt (attempted to get the Marriott at Greenspoint; rejected), then added downtown area ($50, rejected), and finally Hobby area ($52, accepted). Received the Doubltree in Downtown (also referred to as Allen Center). First, it's clear that the minimum threshold for this property is pretty close ($50 was rejected, $52 was accepted -- it might accept $51). Second, as of this moment, the Doubletree is not listed as a Downtown property (the Crowne Plaza is the only 3* listed in the Downtown area currently). Fuzzylogik
  5. Yes, that is correct; this Marriott was within a stone's throw of Greenspoint. The hotel was excellent and highly recommended. Fuzzylogik
  6. Bid $35 for Houston Marriott in the IAH area and accepted first bid for a one-night stay this evening (November 26, 2006; $35 was the lowest that I had found in the postings -- wished I'd tried $25 or $30 first!). Fuzzylogik
  7. BTW, for Entertainment Book members, they offer 50% off rack rates at the Intercontinental in Houston (Galleria area). Starting prices I've been offered with the discount begin at high $60s and range upward depending on day and such. Beware, however: they charge $10 per guest over one (so when my wife and I stay there, the price is the rate quoted plus $10/night) and parking is insane (I believe $14/night for self-park or $25/night for valet). Caveat emptor. For the record, this is the best hotel that I've found in that general area; better than the Renaissance off 59 IMHO (one of my favorite hotel chains). Fuzzylogik :)
  8. Yes, the Doubletree is a 3*. I saw the mistake in the title after I posted -- sorry! I'll get it right next time! Thx for the info on the restaurant. I don't remember them from when I lived there so I'll try and check it out. Fuzzylogik
  9. I needed a hotel between August 15-20 in the DC area. I just successfully bid for a hotel on Priceline that I believe is a new addition; it does not seem to appear in other parts of this forum. It's the Doubletree in Tyson's Corner (for those in the know, it's technically in Falls Chruch JUST inside the beltway at 7801 Leesburg Pike, 703-893-1340). I was trying for the Hyatt Fair Lakes, which is a 4*. I tried three days before and got turned down on all my $50 combination outside of the beltway (I-495), so I started with Fairfax 3* and 4* at $60 and was declined. I then added Tyson's Corner at $64 and was accepted. I like other Doubletree's and the general location, so this worked out great for me. And since the rack rate on the internet was $149/night, I got off easy (42% of rack rate). :) Fuzzylogik
