  1. Thanks again Lonestar. You've been right on since the begining and don't doubt you know. I'll try the Marroitt for the heck of it... We'll increase to 2.5* or 3* and bump up a bit. Fiber~
  2. I will lonestar and I will also post real pictures for all to see. fiber~
  3. By looking at the available pachages for April 20-22 for Kona, a number of 2* appear. My question as a newbie is, whats a bidding strategy to avoid lets say, Uncle Billy's and get accepted by Casstle Kona Reef 2*. What is the process that Priceline uses? Does it offer the bid to the better places for rejection (because the package price does vary, some places are more expensive than others within the same star level). So does price line fire off your bid to that star level and the first one to accept gets it. You wound think there is a priority order since I'm sure that this is all automated. ******Sorry about the lengthy querie, SO what should I do given those dates and availability. Hoping to get something around 50-65 dollars a day. Thanks lonestar and all.
  4. :) Lonstar was right. By looking at the packages, we had problem dates and rearranged our stay to get the Hilton Village resort. 1st bid rejected 135.00 accepted at 138.00 per night. Average going price is 219.00 per night.
  5. OK thereuare, I'll start a new thread for the second part of my trip on the Big Island. Thanks again! fiber~
  6. Lone star, Thanks for responding to my inquiry. Your suugestions will be very helpful in planning our stay. After your comment and a little more research, my wife and I will probably shift more days to the West Coast. I'll let the board know of my bidding success or failure. thanks again. This board is the best thing since sliced bread for travelers! fiberleaf
  7. A few weeks ago some members were being rejected for 70 dollars a night. It appears now that they are going into April with a higher occupancy rate than they would like. If you comfortable with this 3* rating, the deal is there right NOW for this time period. I'll be posting pictures and a brief synposis of the accomodations of the hotels when I get back. thanks to all who post!
  8. :) Waikiki North -started at 55 dollars - rejected winning bid 58 dollars Renaissance Ilikai 4/10-4/15 Renaissance is a Marriott and should be clean and well maintained. http://marriott.com/property/propertypage/...?WT_Ref=mi_left
  9. I think I get it. There is a Topic title and a Topic Description and I should use one post for each winning bid. I'll put the hotel name in the title and a brief description of the winning bid in the title description. Is this OK? Fiberleaf
  10. Thank you for responding so quickly. Our dates are april 15th-18th on the East (Hilo) side and 19th through the 22nd on the west side (kamuela) thanks, fiberleaf
  11. What would be a good strategy for the following scenerio? We what to bump up our accomodations to resort level on the West side. But first we are going to spend 3 or 4 days on the east side to visit the main attractions near Hilo. We are willing to spend no more than 150 a night (resort level) to live it up on the last for 4 days of our vacation. Any Suggestion on a Priceline strategy? Thanks, Fiberleaf
  12. Thanks to you all for the posts. It was very helpful in getting a great affordable price.
