  1. I will be making a trip to Alexandria, VA 6/29/08-07/04/08. I've been watching HOTWIRE and I consistently get a 3.5* hotel for $89 per night. With that in mind, I've been bidding on PRICELINE for about a week now. Doing 4*, then 3*, then 2.5* bids at $55-$65 with no luck. Today I placed bids from $65-$67 in 4*, 3* and 2.5*. On the 2.5* first bid at $65, I got an offer for free rebid at $82 (which I ignored and placed 2 more bids at $66 and $67). Are my bids just too low for this time of year?
  2. Ok. I was thrown off by the "suite" in Springfield. You're saying that could be an ESA-type hotel?
  3. Springfield 2* Suite Laundry $73 Alexandria and Old Town 2* Laundry $64 Any ideas?
  4. Last minute searching last night for somewhere between Philly and Cape May led me to this win. Placed bids for $60-65 for 4* down to 2* in Cape May, Somes Point, Atlantic City Downtown and Vineland-Millville. All losing bids. Received counteroffers on the Vineland bids at 2.5* and 2* to rebid for free for $77. Ignored it and upped my bid to $70 and won. The strategy was pretty methodical until the end where I just thought - for $5 more I'll probably get a hotel in Vineland - and I did. I think for a last minute hotel on the way to the beach I did all right and am happy with the win. Used PRICELINE link.
  5. Another new hotel for the list!!!! Resort Beachfront Fitness Center Pool Restaurant Business Center High-Speed Internet Access Spa Services The Shores Resort and Spa 2637 South Atlantic Avenue Daytona Beach, Florida 32118 (386) 767-7350 Used HOTWIRE link.
  6. I won this bid 3/21/08 and forgot to post it sooner. Was looking for a hotel near Staten Island, NY. My first choice on HOTWIRE was a 3* for $75, so that was my upper limit in price on Priceline. With 2 free rebids, I placed my first bid at $65 and won. Radisson Hotel Carteret 30 Minue Street Carteret, New Jersey 07008
  7. Actually, I may have answered my own question by doing a little research. I did a search for hotel and rental car and came up with 3.5* in Downtown-Soho with Fitness, Internet and Laundry as the Club Quarters Downtown. Looks like it's possible that HOTWIRE has upgraded them from a 3* to a 3.5*. I'm not going to buy this deal since I believe it to probably be the Club Quarters. I REALLY like the hotel, but it's a little too far from where I want to be.
  8. Amenities: Fitness Center, Laundry Facilities, High-Speed Internet $219
  9. I bid up to $55 for 2.5* in Alexandria, and Crystal City a few days ago and was rejected. This morning I placed one bid for a 2.5* in Alexandria-Old Town and I won with an upgrade to a 3*.
  10. Airport Shuttle Complimentary Breakfast Pool Laundry Facilities High-Speed Internet Access Was bidding up to $55 for a 3* on Priceline - no success Used the board's HOTWIRE link
  11. Question: Is it $258 or $285? Your subject says $285 but message says $258.
  12. Boutique Hotel Fitness Center Pool Restaurant Business Center FYI... On Priceline I bid up to $77 for 3* and $94 in 4* before biting on this one. There are at least 2 events happening in ATL that weekend (rock concert and bike race) which appear to be driving the prices up. A friend of mine got her 3* hotel (Georgian Terrace) for $61 on Priceline just days ago. :) This also answers the question regarding which 3.5* Midtown hotel this is. :)
  13. Tried for 2 rooms for 3* and 4* at $50, $55, $60, and $65. At $65 I was offered a free reoffer at $17 higher. I ignored it, bid $5 higher and won at $70 for the Sheraton.
  14. Yesterday I place 2 unsuccessful bids at $60 and $65 for 3* and $45 and $50 for 2.5*. Today placed bids at $66 and $71 (win). All bids placed through savingsbarn.com
  15. LOL! Yes, that information might help. :) 4/19/08-4/20/08
  16. I just placed bids for 3* Orlando Airport starting at $41 and in $2 increments using my rebids through $53. Should I wait a few months and retry? Am I too early?
  17. I usually park at Hamilton, but it is no longer an option. All non-garage parking is now permit parking only (unless the garage is full) and the garage now costs $9 per 24 hours! According to West Windsor Parking Authority, the group who own the parking at Princeton Junction, I can park a maximum of 14 days in their daily parking lots at $4 a day. So I think that's my best bet! Thanks dahammer!
  18. 4 day(s) @ $11.95 per day Total:$47.80 Tax recovery charge and fees $24.08 Car subtotal $71.88 Booked via BB HOTWIRE link
  19. Hi - I will be staying at a hotel (which I will priceline soon) near EWR on Dec. 30th. I will be catching a flight to London 8AM on Dec. 31st and will be gone for 1 week. Any advice on where to leave my car? Is there POSSIBLY somewhere free? Is it safe to leave my car in a hotel parking lot for a week? If not, I may just get someone to drive me the 1 1/2 hrs to Newark from my home. Thanks!
